For everyone who thinks you have to beat the shit out of your opponent ...

Hawks hit hard in playoffs

The Blackhawks took 18 hits in the first period of Game 3 on Monday. They have now taken 809 hits in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, 149 more than any other team (war-on-ice.com).

I swear I've seen 4 year olds in the park skate better than Crawford. What a goon!

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 8:52:12 PM)

Cannot believe the talent level sometimes ...
4th lines in todays NHL are so damn good.
4th lines used to be a plumber, a gimp, and an ox.
Not so anymore.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 8:53:19 PM)

Bickell and Sharp are two huge salaries that have been terrible in the playoffs this year.

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 8:55:27 PM)

I just lost my DirectV due to the rain. Just as well, I guess. I'm getting more frustrated by the second.

Really surprised how quiet they have been.
And that Chicago has won without them.
Even Hossa is quieter than normal. Still great, but ...
Just becomes such a tight checking game when the stakes get this high
Room for error is so minute .....

Yeah. The fourth lines used to be used to eat up minutes for the other guys to get a rest. Now, a lot of fourth liners are really good two way players.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 9:25:11 PM)

Gotta give Bishop the props .... its still a game.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 9:37:07 PM)

Can we just say; how good is this series?

Corleone -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 9:53:27 PM)

Huge!!!!

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 9:57:08 PM)

Holy crap, I SEVERELY underestimated Tampa.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 9:58:02 PM)

HEDMAN is a beast

I actually feel sorry for Chicagos 5th and 6th D men
They inevitably get scored on while on ice, not always their fault ...

Ok, lying ... but you know what I mean ...

HUGE WIN

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 10:04:40 PM)

Wasn't sure they could win in ChiTown
Glad to be wrong.
Unfortunately they're not a sure thing at home either, but at least they have re-started the series.
And given themselves a chance.

Corleone -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 10:21:09 PM)

I'm justifying my Tampa fandom thusly....I plan to retire in the area someday. [&:]

Works for me.....

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (6/8/2015 11:01:54 PM)

Couple things after rewatching highlights ....

* incredible pass from Hedman to Cally. 3/4 ice, a thing of beauty.
* incredible snipe by Cally, those are unstoppable. By you before you can flinch.
* Saad quickly climbing my list of me-no-likeys ... cheap two hander to Bishops head, pal. No, you didn't hide it well.
* Crawford looked like an '80s tender on that final goal .... "I try to keeeek it away, but my feets, they fails me"

joejitsu -> RE: General NHL (6/9/2015 9:55:11 AM)

I'm not cranking up the air raid siren yet, but tampa will win the series if the Hawks continue to play without the necessary effort and energy. It's nice to get scrappy goals from your third and fourth line guys, but a lot of the big money players on the Hawks roster are not bringing their "A" game every night. Bickell and Sharp have been next to invisible for most of the playoffs. Hossa is playing hard, but his shot is not there right now. And you're right, SoMn. Saad is very talented and is probably one of the big future guys for Chicago, but he has a ton of growing up to do.

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (6/10/2015 6:54:42 PM)

Not expecting much tonight.
Hawks are pissed, that usually bodes poorly for opponents.
Smells like a 5-1 laugher.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL (6/10/2015 7:20:12 PM)

I got a funny feeling it's Tampa [:-]

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (6/10/2015 7:22:16 PM)

Hoping someone would say that! [:D]

Kinda trying the old , ya you're too good ..... Can't beat ya ..... Routine. [:D]

SoMnFan -> RE: General NHL (6/10/2015 7:46:30 PM)

No Bishop
Rally found the backup boys

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL (6/10/2015 8:31:34 PM)

#88 got saved by the backup goalie, Johnny Post, twice. He then gave up a terrible rebound that led to 1-0 Hawks. Tampa needs a response.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General NHL (6/10/2015 8:44:53 PM)

Really nice response from Tampa. This is a game man, won't be 5-1. Tampa can hang.
