Gophers more than hanging in there late in the 3rd....

Kill can definitely coach. Just wait until he has his recruits with a few years of his coaching.

Yep

Hell of a job today.
Not big into moral victories, but this was a great effort today.

drew -> RE: Gopher Football (11/5/2011 3:31:10 PM)

It's been very enjoyable to watch these last two games, even though today was a loss. The progress these guys have made is remarkable, almost unbelievable.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/5/2011 3:33:47 PM)

I liked everything I saw from Gray today. Too bad about the miscommunication/mistake on the final throw of the game. Those things happen. Good effort anyway.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (11/5/2011 5:07:50 PM)

Turns out there's some fight in this dog after all.

Pete M. -> RE: Gopher Football (11/5/2011 7:21:28 PM)

Kill has the one thing that I think most correlates to coaching sense - a phenomenal attention to detail. The great ones ALL have it. Now let's see whether he can get the recruits.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (11/5/2011 7:25:53 PM)

If our punter is on scholarship the U owes me about 9 degrees.

Dave E -> RE: Gopher Football (11/5/2011 10:50:47 PM)

Signs of kids getting coached up...encouraging. Fun game to watch.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Gopher Football (11/6/2011 9:12:42 PM)

The improved play is a strong indication that the new coaching staff is worth being patient with.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Gopher Football (11/7/2011 11:08:31 PM)

Even with improved play, it's not likely to be very pretty vs. the Badgers. Sure would be sweet to steal the "Ax", though.

Most disappointing thing to me .. he's actually killed us a couple games
Thought he was supposed to be better. he's been putrid at times.

Thats what I keep thinking ... maybe a couple of seeing that we "have much better athletic ability" ... weren't wrong.
Our sidelines is filled with guys who LOOK like they can play, but obviously the last staff didn't get squat from them.
Earlier years when we were getting killed, you could see obvious signs that we had non-talented guys.
I don't see that as much now. I see some size, some muscle, some strut. Still seee wrong angles, and wrong reads, but at least I see better ability.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Football (11/11/2011 11:40:01 AM)

While I don't expect the Gophers to win, and would bet against them even with the spread if I were forced to place a bet, it is not completely out of the realm of possibility that they steal the Axe. This doesn't seem to be the same team that had ZERO chance of getting the jug when they lost 50 whatever to 0 against Michigan. They seem to have figured out some things since then.

Could it still be a blowout? Sure. But it could also be a competitive game like the last two weeks against two good football teams. They played Michigan State down to the wire on the road, and MSU is every bit as good as Wisconsin. In fact they beat Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago.

Gopher QB Recruit Phil Nelson had another good night, leading his Mkto West team to a dominating win over S St Paul.
Nelson and West advance to the Dome for the 4A title game.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (11/12/2011 10:16:30 AM)

Although he did throw a couple of picks.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/12/2011 2:07:55 PM)

I preferred the 2 TDs rushing, the 2 TDs throwing, leading the team in both categories ... that kind of stuff.  [;)]

Steve Lentz -> RE: Gopher Football (11/12/2011 3:08:24 PM)

Wisconsin has blown all of it's hopes to be in the National Championship race, but still seem to me easily the class of the Big 10. Minnesota looks like it will be completely blown out.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/12/2011 3:09:55 PM)

Agree SteveO
COMPLETELY different league than the Gophs, imo.
Wisconsins roster looks NFL-like
I'm still shocked they dropped two games this year. Running the table would not have shocked me one bit on their part.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/12/2011 3:11:07 PM)

Congrats on the win today SteveO
You guys needed that one.
Tough place to win, even tougher after this weeks events.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/12/2011 3:13:22 PM)

This is the kind of game you simply don't want to see .... it slike we have no defense out there, cracking off 15 yds EVERY play
Embarassing.
That hadn't been happening lately.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/12/2011 3:15:09 PM)

Mr Gray ... you HAVE to make some plays today.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/12/2011 3:16:26 PM)

The continued failure of the punt game has been probably the biggest joke .... find a damn walk-on
There's kids in every dorm can kick better than we have this season. Unacceptable.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/12/2011 3:18:44 PM)

[:o][:o][:o]
Beyond embarassing.
