Michigan coach is done for. Darn, that's too bad that Michigan football is struggling.

Can't remember ever seeing open seats in the Big House. Brady Hoke will never make it through the year. If we can't win back the Brown Jug during this era, we never will.

Bradley H -> RE: Gopher Football (9/21/2014 10:00:28 AM)

This is amazing. Through four games, the leading receiver for the Gophers has six catches.

2014 guys, not 1914

And yet they have at least 2 QB's who would start for the Gophers....possibly more.

I hope Hoke sticks around (or course he won't). We have a better chance at beating them.

He was 1st choice for Gophers but turned them down

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (9/21/2014 12:06:04 PM)

I don't know where Hoke ranked on the list of options of coaches who turned the Gophers down before Kill accepted. What I remember about Hoke is that Maturi created a big stink by talking to Hoke without the permission of the other AD. That prompted a dump Maturi campaign by a bunch of alumna.

Bruce Johnson -> RE: Gopher Football (9/21/2014 9:38:57 PM)

I missed the game, yesterday. How did the Gophers look? The score looks like they played pretty good D.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/22/2014 11:28:50 AM)

Brady Hoke presser coming up.
I like to call it
DEAD MAN TALKING

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/22/2014 11:51:37 AM)

Hoke just gives his best Goodell.
Doesn't see much wrong, moving forward ......
Probably happy to see the Gophers on the sched

ronhextall -> RE: Gopher Football (9/22/2014 12:42:13 PM)

Kill has been the coach way too long to have a sorry excuse of a passing game. The program is on the way down, just smells better than it did in the past.

Dave E -> RE: Gopher Football (9/25/2014 11:07:46 AM)

A lot of short memories in here. The lack of QB who can complete a forward pass is embarrassing, but to suggest the program isn't in a far better position than Brewster had it in is ludicrous.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (9/25/2014 12:10:11 PM)

I've said Mason and not Punky. His program was a f'ing disaster.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (9/25/2014 12:45:43 PM)

Like I said before, Kill is pretty much matching Mason's track record to date. Well see if it takes off after 5 years.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/25/2014 4:34:23 PM)

He's had time to push the defense the right way
It appears he has
It's time now to figure out where we are heading offensively
Because we have taken massive steps backward in that area.
Nelson appears to have been better than he was given credit for.

And Gray looked like Joe Montana compared to the new guys.

Agreed

Reusse with a great story about Kent Kitzmann's 57-carry game in 1977 in the Strib today.
Those late-70s teams weren't great, but were damn fun to follow.
Some great memories at old Memorial Stadium.
The 16-0 win over national power Michigan was probably the finest moment of Gopher FB in my lifetime.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/27/2014 12:14:15 AM)

Another very interesting test for the Gophers.
They will be walking into a hornets nest, filled with pissed-off players, coaches, and fans.
Could bode poorly. Especially for a team as inept at moving the ball as we are.

drew -> RE: Gopher Football (9/27/2014 8:19:13 AM)

I'm with you SMF. This is a team we should be competitive, but I have a feeling today is going to be ugly. Maybe it's the taste of 1 completion for 7 yards is still in my mouth.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (9/27/2014 8:27:58 AM)

The D better be ready. This ongoing saga of "give up some early points and then settle"....crap, needs to end. Our offense isn't built to come from behind on the road.

I believe that fans will be pissed off. The players and coaches could be a different story. They could be pissed off or they could be shell shocked and wondering if they are that good or questioning belief in their coach. They have been steadily declining under Hoke and he has to worrying about job security. The Gophers have already played a much better team than Michigan (especially defensively) on the road, so they shouldn't be intimidated. If the Wolverines start out poorly those pissed off fans may turn on them quickly.

This power running team isn't built to come from behind at home either. It's a clock management offense.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Gopher Football (9/27/2014 2:15:41 PM)

Liedner and Williams both starting.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/27/2014 2:29:22 PM)

Good to see Penn State lay a huge egg.
NW went in to a Happy Valley and pounded them.
Another myth busted.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/27/2014 2:40:06 PM)

Don't F up the good start!

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (9/27/2014 2:42:11 PM)

Dang, Cobb.
So close to being good.
Yet so far. Has huge holes. Doesn't always make the right cut.
Could've easily taken this drive to the house.
Now instead, huge 4th down here.
