Helluva plan

for 1962 [:D]

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (1/13/2015 6:49:45 AM)

After seeing how winnable the Ohio State game was for the Gophers, I never would have predicted last night in a million years. Maybe the Big Ten is a lot better than we realized.

Then you have the egg the Gophs laid in the post season. One of few B10 failures. Nice.

Maxx's TD where he jumped over a guy was the #2 ESPN CFB play of the year.

Same thoughts
I'm speechless

YIKES [:-]

The improved play of the 2014 Gophers caught some broad national attention. The 2015 schedule alone is deserving of the same. The Gophers open with TCU, a team that was ranked No. 1 in the nation on Tuesday in ESPN’s “way too early” 2015 rankings. Hard to imagine a more high-profile opening game for Jerry Kill’s fifth season. After that Thursday nighter at TCF Bank Stadium comes a trip to Fort Collins, Colo., to face a Colorado State team that was 10-1 and ranked 21st before two season-ending losses.

And, oh yeah, there’s that Big Ten schedule, too. This year, the conference run will feature three new coaches at traditional powers Nebraska (Mike Riley), Michigan (Jim Harbaugh) and the season-ending Wisconsin (Paul Chryst) game, and a November trip to Columbus, Ohio, to face the newly crowned champs. Those Buckeyes are No. 2 in ESPN’s too-early rankings, by the way.

Will the Gophers improve on 8-5? Fall back? It should be fascinating to follow the ride, up or down:

Minnesota, 2015

Sept. 3* vs. TCU

Sept. 12 at Colorado State

Sept. 19 vs. Kent State

Sept. 26 vs. Ohio

Oct. 3 at Northwestern

Oct. 10 at Purdue

Oct. 17 vs. Nebraska

Oct. 24 Bye week

Oct. 31 vs. Michigan

Nov. 7 at Ohio State

Nov. 14 at Iowa

Nov. 21 vs. Illinois

Nov. 28 vs. Wisconsin

*Thursday night game

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (1/16/2015 7:33:49 AM)

I'm calling for 9-2 early. We lose the opener and at OSU.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (1/16/2015 8:09:05 AM)

With a good QB 8 or 9 wins is possible.

With a stupid not to lose mentality, 6 wins is possible.

I'll say my stupid "there is no answer" question for the hundredth time.....
In college football .......
WHY would you EVER play conservatively?
Its a "win only" sport, imo.
Keeping it close, or moral victories.... mean NOTHING
I may be overthinking it (clearly, I am, but) .... I don't really even understand why you punt late when you are behind, etc .....
You see these games all year long, they're down by ten, and yet they punt.
No one overvalues field position more than me, but still .... makes no sense to me.
Bowl games for years have reflected the trend.
If you cant wing it and score at will, you are irrelevant.
over/unders are nearing 80 these days.
Get with the plan, or get left behind.

You're counting on us winning every game we should win and a couple games we probably shouldn't. That's nuts. No way. 6-5.

This one still stuns me. I was literally sick to my stomach during the Mizzou game [X(]

Co St and maybe Iowa (always tough there). Everything else is very winnable or, at least, at home. I stand by it and will.

Sounds like we finish the year ranked #3? Guess I'm ok with that :-)

And it doesn't seem like that long ago when we paid a lot of money to get out of playing North Carolina!?!?

That puts CSU at 10-3 with no real quality wins, and 35 point loss to Utah in the bowl game. They are good, but I wouldn't be freaking out over this game.

The big problem? Kill's bowl game results. He really needs to win one.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Gopher Football (1/17/2015 3:29:54 PM)

We don't kno how many starters for CSU graduated to determine how good they might be

shows the recruits.

A couple of 6'5" WR

some mn kids and a RB from Fargo

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (2/4/2015 12:47:58 PM)

The big get was Demry Croft, a 6'5" QB. According to Tom Lemming at CBS Sports he is a 4 star recruit with 5 star potential. He didn't start playing QB until his junior year. Dior Johnson, the DB from Michigan is also supposed to be quite good. Rivals has him as a 4 star recruit for what it's worth. Nobody is rated lower than a 3 star ... also for what it's worth.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (2/4/2015 1:14:02 PM)

Been waiting for a knock-your-socks-off signing day. From Jerry.
Still waiting.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (2/4/2015 3:34:48 PM)

Don't hold your breath. It takes a long time to build a program to the point where you have any shot at competing with the royalty programs for the elite players. Barry Alverez built his vile program on the same caliber of recruits Kill is getting.

Man, disagree with a guy about Zucker and he gets all pissy on you. He must be Joe Mauer and you're Dustin.
