Still have a chance.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:00:01 PM)

Try that trick play again.

Try that trick play again.

Or a slightly better one.

Let's just stop turning the damn ball over. We're moving it at will.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:05:57 PM)

Kick the FG.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:06:05 PM)

Is the wind an issue? Why not kick a FG with supposedly one of the best kickers in the country?

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:06:21 PM)

Burning TO's like they're unlimited!!! [X(][X(][X(]

Yeah, and now there's no way we kick a FG. Prove me wrong and get the 1st down, Fleck.

Karl Juhnke -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:07:51 PM)

Well the Gophers are kicking ass in Vegas. That's all that really matters.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:07:59 PM)

Oh, he changed his mind.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:08:25 PM)

What a choker.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:09:02 PM)

C'mon Emmit [X(]

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:10:06 PM)

We fricking had this game but puked it.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:11:23 PM)

Kicker was supposed to be our biggest strength. Today he has contributed greatly to the loss.

He should be sent home by bus.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:12:49 PM)

I don't expect you to make every 48-yarder. I do expect you to at least give it a chance in that situation. Especially coming off an uncharacteristic short miss.

Don't count your chickens yet.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:14:35 PM)

Game was much closer than the final will show. We have some reason for optimism. A much better showing than against Maryland or Iowa.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:16:37 PM)

I didn't see the Gophers score a single point. I saw OSU score 20.

You were the problem!

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 2:37:14 PM)

Nice choke job by Nebraska today.

Pete M. -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 3:13:18 PM)

A few thoughts:

(1) A very good effort. They stood toe to toe with #3, and frankly, won the line of scrimmage throughout the game. When is the last time the Gophers have done that against the big boys?

(2) The secondary just doesn't have enough athletes, especially with Winfield and Terrell Smith injured and Durr out early for targeting. The cavalry is coming, but it'll take another year or two.

(3) Plenty of growing pains for the young QB today. His deep ball needs so much work. But he hung in there and made some nice intermediate throws. And the WRs are simply dynamic.

(4) There's so much to like in terms of improvement. They've ramped up in opponent strength each of the last three weeks and have noticeably gotten better each week. For the Fleck haters, give him some time. If Gophers have a competent QB next year, I expect them to contend for a division crown.

If the red line is accurate, it was pretty close. I guess he did pull the ball back to his body, and maybe short of the red line, when his knee hit.

You could debate about the accuracy of the red line to the first down. What you can't debate is he was down short of it and the ref spotted him well past it.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/13/2018 5:49:36 PM)

You guys nailed it.

Biggest surprise:

The OLine. They were amazing at times.

Biggest dissapointments:

1. ZA and his bad throws again. It's to be expected but his mistakes are killing us. Again, you had to expect it. Hopefully he learns because you can see why he's in there. Kid has moxie and can wing it.
2. Kicker.....MN special

Shannon Brooks jailed on domestic assault allegation

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/14/2018 11:11:39 AM)

Minnesota Gophers running back Shannon Brooks was arrested early Sunday in Minneapolis on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic assault, according to authorities.

Brooks, a 22-year-old senior who has been sidelined all season with an injury, was booked into the Hennepin County jail about 2:40 a.m., according to the jail log.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Darcy Horn said the arrest occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. in the 600 block of 15th Avenue SE., the same block near campus where Brooks lives. Horn described the suspected offense as a misdemeanor.

Emergency dispatch audio revealed that Brooks assaulted a roommate, who was the person who called police.

Head coach P.J. Fleck said during an interview late Sunday morning on WCCO Radio, AM 830, that “at this point, with the process unfolding, I’m not able to comment about any aspect of it whatsoever. I wish I could, but I’m not able to do that at this time.’’

Brooks, who has more than 2,500 all-purpose yards in his career, is working his way back from a torn ligament in his knee.

He traveled to Columbus for Saturday’s game with Ohio State, participated in pregame warmups but did not play in the Gophers’ 30-14 defeat.
