Northwestern clinched the B1G West today.

His long passes have too much loft usually.

Yeah, there's no way he tried to put that pass where it ended up. The irony is if he had put it where he should have, it could have been picked off.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (11/10/2018 4:51:55 PM)

If this was a fight, they'd stop it.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/10/2018 5:05:01 PM)

I'd get Ibrahim out of there. Last thing we need is an injury.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (11/10/2018 5:08:26 PM)

41-3 [:-][:-][:-]

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/10/2018 5:09:39 PM)

Being up 41-3 makes no sense.

Bill Jandro -> RE: Gopher Football (11/10/2018 5:25:59 PM)

Are their any other coaches we can fire?

To think what this defense was capable of all year.

Steve Lentz -> RE: Gopher Football (11/10/2018 6:10:43 PM)

Nice win over a pretty dang good QB and Coach.

Thibs.

None of the end result of this game makes much sense, given 2018 results.

D that was getting shredded vs offense that beat Ohio State.

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (11/11/2018 8:55:47 AM)

I watched bits and pieces of the game, but I'm betting that anyone who saw the score without having watched the game was sure that someone just transposed which team had 41 and which team had 3.

All we can hope is that we eventually look back at this game as the moment everything fell together for the team and was the start of a run that became legend.

How's that for positivity?

Wow Lynn, that's exactly what I thought when I got to a restaurant and looked up at the TV and saw the score. Had to take a double take to be sure I read it correctly, LOL.

Sounds like the new DC just simplified the crap out of it. That let the players focus on their techniques and use their athleticism to make plays.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (11/11/2018 10:26:19 AM)

They kept saying it all game "this is the fastest I've ever seen this Gopher's D play". It was bizarre to watch just how different they were yesterday compared to the past couple of weeks. The final was out of control but the first half was still pretty close.

O wasn't doing much but the D just wouldn't let them get on track. Hell, we damn near blocked about 4 punts we were so aggressive. The back breaker was the fumble return TD. After that the snow started falling harder and you could see Purdue had mailed it in at that point.

I like the fact that PJ didn't let up off of them. The OLine was dominating towards the end. That 400 pound Frosh has made a big difference (no pun intended).

That kid is a giant. Lean too. Our oline certainly passes the eye test.

Blough taps his chest, "that's on me." Really? Who else could it be on? I shouldn't be so harsh. I used to do that all the time when I played basketball.

Swear to God ... spent the entire game with my mouth open.
Still makes no sense.
But, this Blough kid was horrific.
Couldn't have been more "Leidner" if he had tried. Looked so familiar.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/13/2018 11:28:28 AM)

This was a really good defense at the end of last year and at the start of this one.
Losing Winfield was a terrible blow, but should not have derailed things that badly.
Fleck alluded to some tough events really knocking this team for a loop during the year.
Lets hope things have gotten straightened out. This was a nice start. This weekend and next will be a real test.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (11/13/2018 11:32:50 AM)

To be fair, it was more than just Winfield. They had to replace almost the entire starting d backfield. The problem was that until last week there was absolutely zero improvement from what was supposed to be a real good group of athletes at those position. That's on the coaching.

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (11/17/2018 11:24:39 AM)

Someone needs to tell Morgan that Nate Hall doesn't play for the Gophers...

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (11/17/2018 12:40:03 PM)

Haven't played well so far and we're in the game. Hope the 2nd half goes better. Like to see us run more, maybe some screens to slow down the pass rush. Burned too many TO's early and didn't have one when we needed it on the final drive. Cost us at least a FG attempt.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (11/17/2018 1:00:17 PM)

3rd and inches out of the shotgun, lose 2 yds. Kick FG and miss! [X(][X(][X(]

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/17/2018 1:11:24 PM)

Carpenter needs to quit missing easy FGs.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/17/2018 1:12:03 PM)

The Ax is getting the shaft.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/17/2018 1:13:46 PM)

If Ibrahim goes left instead of stretching it to the right there, I think it's a huge run.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (11/17/2018 1:16:10 PM)

2 yd pass on 3rd and 10.
