Days later

P.J. Fleck must prove he can win with his own defensive recruits

Souhan is so awesome. [&:]

Pretty accurate stuff, no?

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/29/2020 2:45:40 PM)

Apparently why the Wisconsin game is cancelled and not a forfeit:

Per Big Ten policies, any game not played this season due to COVID-19 will be declared a no contest, meaning that a winner or loser will not be declared. The game simply does not exist and each team involved now will play only eight games with the conference not building in any contingency plans and bye weeks for cancelations.

Gophers cornerback Benny Sapp III has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

The Eden Prairie native announced his decision Thursday on Twitter, writing he is open to recruitment. He is a former three-star recruit.

Sapp played in all 13 games as a freshman and appeared in 11 as a sophomore. The son of former Vikings player Benjamin Sapp II mostly contributed to the Gophers special teams. He did not play in this past Saturday's 49-24 loss to Michigan.

Had no idea he had been so highly recruited at one point:

Sapp was sought-after recruit in high school, drawing scholarship offers from Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, and a bevy of other Power 5 programs after his sophomore season before knee injuries and multiple surgeries derailed his recruitment. He ended up signing with Minnesota, but struggled to see meaningful snaps in his first two seasons of limited action with the Gophers. Sapp had been competing with sophomore Tyler Nubin for the vacant starting safety spot, but did not see the field against Michigan in last week’s season opener.

The Gophers will now only have four scholarship safeties on the roster the rest of the way: Nubin, Jordan Howden, Michael Dixon, and Abner Dubar.

Whoa, yeah, that's as recruited as you can get these days …. [:-]

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/29/2020 2:49:50 PM)

I'm glad they are gone, but damnnnn
Kill and Claeys found some BLUE CHIPPERS

GAME DAY

See what happens on the East Coast tonight.

Feels like an ambush
We're probably still feeling sorry for ourselves.
Not getting a good vibe.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 8:38:07 AM)

Looks like the right side of our line won't be intact for the rest of the year. Dunlap has a torn Achilles tendon and Faalele is apparently staying out because of Covid-19 concerns. We'll just have to find out if the depth is good enough.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 6:32:53 PM)

Another loose ball we didn't get.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 6:47:27 PM)

Ugly early. The opposite of last week. Hoping the rest of the game is also the opposite of last week.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 6:57:58 PM)

Ground caused that fumble.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:05:08 PM)

Thank goodness for the overturn and the nice drive that followed. Before I saw the replay I was about to post that the damn boat has a hole in it, but it's a game for now. D has to show up.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:07:12 PM)

No D yet.

stfrank -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:08:07 PM)

Wow, even a little defense would help...... [:-]

Steve Lentz -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:08:28 PM)

Gophers look like Nebraska so far.
That's not a good thing and with the Vikes playing the same way makes watching football tough.
Unbelievable.

Steve Lentz -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:25:31 PM)

Keep running the ball. OL looking dominant.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:25:42 PM)

At least the O is churning along nicely right now, gotta keep pace.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:38:16 PM)

Hey there's a D play. Chug it big fella.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:44:50 PM)

When you need 1/2 a foot I don't know why you start in the shotgun.

Finally got it in. Tie game.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:52:54 PM)

Another stop! Let's take the lead going into half and we get the ball 1st.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:56:11 PM)

Should've been a flag for unnecessary roughness on that tackle out of bounds.

Steve Lentz -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:58:01 PM)

No answer for Ibrahim!!

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (10/30/2020 7:58:30 PM)

Nice drive for the score. A very fast 90 yd drive, left too much time on the clock though. Many snaps at the end with a lot of seconds left.

May set the school record for attempts in a game.
