The more I watch college football, the less I think kids should be playing college football this season.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2020 12:11:22 PM)

Really strange thing going on right now. Michigan's offense isn't marching up and down the field. They must have forgotten the playbook. It's the only tangible excuse I can come up with between last week and this.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2020 3:24:36 PM)

Michigan loses by 3

at home

to a team that lost to Rutgers

NW
Who crushed Maryland

down 17-0 at iowa

going to be tough sledding for the No-defense Gophers.

Steve Lentz -> RE: Gopher Football (10/31/2020 6:48:41 PM)

How do you say the "Real Deal"
Took Ohio State 3 plays to score a TD against Penn State.

Had to laugh, I watched a lot of that one and the Michigan guys actually were looking around like "hey, wait, these guys are tackling us, is that allowed?"

Maryland scored 45 points and amassed 675 total yards of offense, one week after scoring 3 points and totaling 207 yards of offense against Northwestern.

Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa was 26-of-35 for 394 passing yards and four touchdowns, in addition to 8 carries for 64 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Running back Jake Funk rushed for a career-high 216 yards on 21 carries, averaging 10.3 yards per carry, and scored one touchdown on the ground.

They'll need to be told … "things won't be that easy from here out fellas"

Jake is not relation. [;)] Kept seeing that and thought, "a kid named Funk" running through a D1 defense.

Found out I have relation QB-ing Chanhassen HS this fall. Riley Funk is a lefty. Son of one of my first cousins. Pretty cool.

Late to the party on discussing the game, but damn that was brutal. That was far worse than the Michigan game. I get that there are a lot of new starters on defense this year. We lost some top end starters on the defense including two who stepped right into starting roles in the NFL.

That said, Fleck was allegedly recruiting better players than we had seen in these parts since the early 60's. I get that it takes a few years to build the kind of quality depth that the perennial powers have, but these kids haven't even put up a fight in 7 of the 8 quarters they have played.

Fleck didn't help matters by making the offense as predictable as possible once we got ahead.

Two years ago Rossi turned this defense around seemingly overnight. He needs to do that again or we are in for a long miserable Basement Brew type of season.

They have not prepped them to be ready. IMO most of the blame is on the lack of coaching up the kids.

There is no disputing that take Ed. We were supposed to be witnessing an influx of superior athletes that we are used to seeing go elsewhere. If they are underperforming, that's on the coaches. Fleck has least owned it. He said the defense's failure starts with him.

Great. You've publicly owned it. Now do something about it!

Phil Riewer -> RE: Gopher Football (11/2/2020 9:36:26 AM)

As much as we miss Winfield and Coughlin....you can sure see the difference at LB w/o Martin and Barber.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (11/2/2020 9:45:22 AM)

I said that right away Phil, about Barber
That kid had faults, but he was in on every good D play for us for YEARS
You really miss dudes like that

Steve Lentz -> RE: Gopher Football (11/3/2020 1:03:14 PM)

Wisconsin vs. Purdue cancelled.

Bill Jandro -> RE: Gopher Football (11/5/2020 6:58:54 AM)

Sounding like UW might just throw in the towel for the season. They have to play at least 6 games to be bowl eligible.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Gopher Football (11/5/2020 10:36:26 AM)

Rossi will miss the Illinois game with Covid

And the kickers too.

Tough year for some. Badgers losing games they haven't played, Gophers not showing up to the ones they play.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (11/5/2020 8:44:06 PM)

Covid protocols have worked reasonably well for pro sports. I had my doubts college kids could behave as well. By and large they are proving me right.

Everybody beats Illinois

The Michigan defeat looking worse with every game Mich plays. Sounding like Harbaugh is on borrowed time.

Bill Jandro -> RE: Gopher Football (11/8/2020 7:41:01 AM)

Took in the ND/Clemson game.

I can't stand Dabo he looks insulted if officials flag his team no matter how blatant. The ref's even picked up one flag they absolutely shouldn't have (PI call late in 4th) due to being influenced by his whining. ND got jobbed on a lot of calls. I was elated that they ended up winning.

Agreed. We should have been celebrating that Mo Ibraham achieved his second Al Bundy in as many weeks.

Looks like Iowa is rolling
Just our luck

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (11/9/2020 10:57:02 AM)

Have I mentioned that Kirk Ferentz is a dick?
