The Gophers appear to have traded up at QB. Max Brosmer is transferring to Minnesota for his final year of eligibility.

Brosmer's last 2 seasons:
2022: 3,154 yards, 27 TDs and 8 INTs.
2023: 3,459 yards, which was best in the FCS level, 29 TDs and 6 INTs All-CAA.

Brosmer was the 5th rated QB available in the portal, Kaliakmanis was rated #10.

I'm a bit surprised Fleck can get a QB of any merit to run his stone age offense.

Fleck trusted him less than he did last year....Athan really wasn't accurate.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (12/4/2023 11:29:04 AM)

His "weapons" also dropped a crap ton of balls. It was unreal at times. It would be really interesting if he ended up at Oregon (just an example) to see where he would get to. He can sling it but is like Wild Thing Vaughn without the glasses.

Yep. Corey Crooms in particular was flat out brutal. Even worse, he was very good at getting open, meaning Kaliakmanis gave him a lot of opportunities to drop passes. Which he did.

Brad H -> RE: Gopher Football (12/5/2023 8:29:46 AM)

I heard Kaliakmanis entered the transfer portal.

Good riddance.

So did Viotto, leaving the program with one quarterback under scholarship.

The Gophers' game is ranked the worst of the bowl games. That's lazy journalism.

Seems fair to me.

"Minnesota is the only sub-.500 team in a bowl game thanks to its Academic Progress Rate. The Gophers will play without QB Athan Kaliakmanis after he entered the transfer portal. Minnesota averages just 303 yards a game and gives up six yards a play."

Perhaps the worst quarterback I've ever seen in a game for Minnesota.

Joe Rossi is bailing on Fleck and going to be the DC at Michigan State.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (12/11/2023 10:56:05 AM)

I think Fleck is in his boat without a paddle. [:o]

Greek Freak is going to Rutgers.

twinsfan -> RE: Gopher Football (12/22/2023 10:26:24 AM)

What is it with crappy Gopher quarterbacks always ending up at Rutgers?

Hey, Rutgers is Air Coryell compared to the.Gophers. The only teams that run more than Fleck are the military academies.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (12/22/2023 4:18:08 PM)

Would be hilariously funny if it wasn't true [:o]

Phil Riewer -> RE: Gopher Football (12/26/2023 4:47:43 PM)

Gophers with their third Quick Lane Bowl win.....[:-]

Lynn G. -> RE: Gopher Football (12/26/2023 8:11:19 PM)

Seventh bowl win in a row. Sure, it wasn't the Rose Bowl, but I'm happy for the guys on the team.

bstinger -> RE: Gopher Football (12/26/2023 10:40:58 PM)

College football is broken.

How Bowls and TV networks are paying anything for the product they get is beyond me. How anyone but a family member would pay to travel to a game like this one is also beyond me.

NIL
The Portal
Sitting Out the Bowl Game

Have all led to the demise.

I wonder if PJ realizes what he does to these top recruit RBs when he runs them into the ground....

Special circumstances. Last game of the year, all off-season to recover. And virtually no other offensive options at his disposal. So he stuck with what worked.

If 26 yards passing, and 35 carries a game for the RB is the norm next season I'd agree with you. But it won't be.

This wasn't the only time he has done this to Taylor this year or Mo prior.

Karl, Fleck has been running these guys into submission since took over. It's pretty common for his #1 back to get over 30 carries a game. Just look at Ibrahim's carries per game. Over the last few years, only the military academies run the ball a higher percentage of the time than the Gophers.

Almost wonder if that was why Taylor was waffling about changing zip codes.
