A true moment of pride for Gopher Nation. Ranked #5 in ESPN's Bottom 10.

I always looked at these and worried that one day we'd be there, and the end would be near.
So here we are. We "made" it. [X(]
As bad as we have been, it's never been this obvious and embarassing, nation-wide.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (9/30/2010 8:03:18 AM)

My only question is; are there really 4 programs worse than ours?

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2010 6:41:34 AM)

Northwestern is gonna kick the crap out of us Saturday.

TJSweens -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2010 8:32:04 AM)

FWIW Glen Mason is predicting a Gopher win.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2010 10:06:35 AM)

NW
Wis
Purdue
Penn St
OSU
Mich St
Illi
Iowa

We may, and I mean MAY get one more win out of this season.  What a disaster.

Stacey King -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2010 11:04:45 AM)

I remember being in grade school, listening to the radio on a fall Saturday afternoon as Marion Barber and Garry White led a ground attack as the Gophers upset #1 Michigan 16 - 0.

That was 1977.

Who would have thought 33 years later that was maybe the high point of following Gopher Football for me.

Back then Northwestern was the dregs....everybody's Homecoming Game opponent.

We have now become the laughingstock of the Big 10.

Embarassing.

SoMnFan -> RE: Gopher Football (10/1/2010 11:43:45 PM)

Loved that '77 upset game, maybe the top Gopher FB memory for me.
Mark Carlson had a great day. I remember our entire family was working on the harvest, and we were all just giddy about it, everyone had the radios blaring and we kept saying ... "I can't believe we're gonna win this thing".
Great memories of that day.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 10:02:58 AM)

I read in morning paper where Brewster says them having a tough schedule will payoff. I had to scratch my head thinking of the tough games they played. I see only 1 and that was USC

Look at the Gophers' record right now and you will have to agree that it was indeed a tough schedule for the Gophers.

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 11:14:52 AM)

Northwestern is 31-12 under Fitzgerald.

It is possible to win at the 'smaller' Big 10 schools.

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 11:30:36 AM)

14 trips into the Red Zone in 4 non conference games?

Amazing. Even more amazing when you figure in we're second in the nation in Time of Possession.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 11:48:06 AM)

No one watching today?  So far the offense looks alright but the defense has only one hope of stopping Northwestern.  Turnovers...and they got 2.  End of 1st qtr

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 12:15:04 PM)

Stunned that its 14-14 right now.

We need more fumbles.

How about now?  21-14 Gophs.

Weber is having by far his best passing game of the year.  Where has THIS guy been for the last 20 or so games?  Even the deep incompletions were spot on.

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 12:39:08 PM)

I have no idea what happened. He looked bad on his first few throws, but he suddenly got...good.

Big question now is if Brewster can match NW's halftime adjustments and keep it going.

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 12:39:50 PM)

This looks like a team that should have been 3-1 in con conference.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 12:49:17 PM)

I still don't think we can consistantly stop Northwestern.  And not crazy about spying Persa with Tinsley.  They have won that matchup several times including a 3rd and 17.  Also, our lack of pass rush from the DE's continues to kill us.  They are one on one and can't generate much pressure.  Maybe it's to give Leston Simpson a chance.  If anyone has been double teamed, it's been Kirksey!

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 1:02:47 PM)

That looked easy...

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 1:24:53 PM)

Michael (Don't call me Tyrone) Carter with the pick!  Gophers hanging on by two fingernails.....21-20

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 1:31:09 PM)

That was a HUGE pick.

Karl H -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 1:35:52 PM)

Weber to Lair........... 28-20 MN

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 1:38:03 PM)

What the hell is going on?

Its like Bizarro World...

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 1:47:09 PM)

Wow.

How did he throw that accurately? And how did we not at least break it up?

David Levine -> RE: Gopher Football (10/2/2010 2:09:47 PM)

And we turn back into the Gophers and Weber turns back into Weber...
