Brewster gets a commitment from Tramaine Brock, a safety from Mississippi Gulf Coast CC
I tired to google him to see if I could get any info, but no luck.

Really? I got him. http://mississippi.scout.com/a.z?s=177&p=8&c=1&nid=1839309
Really? I got him. http://mississippi.scout.com/a.z?s=177&p=8&c=1&nid=1839309
OK, a 2 star player, but there is room for improvement. I id follow a link and found this as very interesting http://mississippi.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=4&yr=2008

Jim Frenette -> RE:Gopher Football (12/11/2007 7:26:24 PM)

The Gophers just got another commitment from a 4 star QB out of Pasadena City College. I don't remember his name and looked on the KFAN site for it to no avail. I'm wondering why they are going after a Juco QB when they just had a Freshman look pretty good and they still have the coaches son waiting in the wings. I can see another freshman and red shirt him for the future but not a guy with only 2 years left.

TJSweens -> RE:Gopher Football (12/11/2007 7:28:39 PM)

They added a 4 star JUCO line backer. Originally committed to Auburn in 2005. Sounds like he will move right into the starting lineup with Sam Maresh. http://blogs.twincities.com/gophers/2007/12/gophers_add_another_talented_l.html

Are you listening this morning to PA & Dubay? Since Brad deals with Juco players on the west coast, I left a message for him in the college thread about this QB.

Mr. Ed -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (12/20/2007 9:20:21 AM)

I saw inthe Press the Juco QB says he's coming to play QB, but Brewster says no. Sounds like they're going to get along real well.

ESPN has a story on gifts kids get at the bowl games.

up to 500 dollars per player. Nice.

He's only 5-9 and kind of small for a QB but supposedly very athletic.

Jim Frenette -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (1/4/2008 5:16:43 PM)

Anyone know if any future Gophers are suppose to play in the HS All Star game tomorrow? I did hear Brewsters son Nolan is.

Jim Frenette -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (1/5/2008 1:56:26 PM)

Actually two HS AS games today. In the one sponsored by the Army, the Gophers got a commitment from a 4* QB from Indiana, Marques Gray

For years I've been looking for some beef for the defensive line and in the UnderArmor game, the Gophers have a kid, Edwards, from Penn that weigh in over 300 and he is showing some quickness

So.Mn.Fan -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (1/5/2008 2:41:54 PM)

Nice run for a td by Mr Gray.
Quick, athletic kid.
Let's find a whole bunch more like that, please?

TJSweens -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (1/18/2008 4:09:42 PM)

From Grandpa Sports' column this morning:

"Linebacker Gary Tinsley of Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast, who committed to the Gophers in October, was named the MVP of the Florida Athletic Coaches Association all-star football game. Another future Gopher, Spencer Reeves of Dallas Skyline High, was named the outstanding linebacker in the Dallas-Fort Worth area."

Jim Frenette -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (1/24/2008 11:53:31 AM)

The newest Gopher recruit, from San Mateo Calif. RB DeLeon Eskridge.

Check out the video

TJSweens -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (1/24/2008 11:59:25 AM)

Rivals has the Gopher class ranked 21 in the nation and #4 in the Big Ten. It may get better as Brewster is continuing to recruit and may pick up his son Nolan and long shot that Willie Mobley might switch his commitment to Minnesota.

Jim Frenette -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (1/31/2008 9:40:43 AM)

In Todays paper they mention the Gophers added two more verbals to make it to 32. But then they mention only 28 will be able to enter in the fall. I don't understand this. Will the Gophers have to tell 4 that they changed their minds about wanting them or just invite them as walk ons?

TJSweens -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (1/31/2008 9:51:04 AM)

There is some goofy format for exceptions because some of them are juco's with some  eligibility used up.

Brewster gets 7 - 4* recruits to sign up today?
Sweet. Lots of work to do.
Nice to see they are getting after them tho.
Offer that pt right away, it'll hook some good ones.

Which is apparently 3 more than Mason's last 5 recruititng classes combined. They added a 4 star safety out of Dallas yesterday. Moves the Gophers from 24th nationally and 4th in the Big Ten to 19th and 3rd. The comments from the national scouting services are absolutely gushing over the job Brewster did. A couple of them are saying Minnesota is the recruiting story of the year nationally. Tom Lemming says Brewster is "one of the 10 greatest recruiters he has ever seen".

So.Mn.Fan -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (2/6/2008 10:00:09 AM)

You just made my day, Tim.
Maybe one day this program will be important.
I had given up for awhile.
Those are damn impressive numbers.
Has to be the promise of immediate playing time, dontcha think?
Or have they finally relaxed the "requirements" over there?

Jim Frenette -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (2/6/2008 10:28:35 AM)

I saw the list of players in the paper this morning and noticed an absence. The Gophers had a verbal from a QB in Calif that no longer is on the list. Another thing I noticed is that they must be happy with what they have on the O-Line because they don't have any signing today.

I found this interesting from Pat Forde of ESPN

According to Scouts Inc., ESPN.com's recruiting bureau, 156 players have de-committed from one school in favor of another this recruiting season. Fourteen of those players de-committed more than once. Eleven of the de-commits rank among the ESPN 150.

TJSweens -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (2/6/2008 10:29:32 AM)

KFAN is reporting that the only signed letter of intent that Texas is still waiting for is from 4 star DB Nolan Brewster. Son of Tim Brewster. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. This recruiting class could be getting even better.

Jim Frenette -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (2/6/2008 10:35:26 AM)

9:25 a.m.: 15 national letters of intent have been received and confirmed. Xzavian Brandon, MarQueis Gray, Broderick Smith, John Nance, Jonathan Johnson, Tim Dandridge, Shady Salamon, Sam Maresh, Jewhan Edwards, Brandon Green, Troy Stoudermire, Keanon Cooper, Da'Jon McKnight, Terrell Combs and Donald White are part of the 2008 recruiting class.

I was hoping to see Nolan's name. But they with the Gophers signing Gray might mean son Clint might not play would make second son hesitant

TJSweens -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (2/6/2008 10:57:38 AM)

I think Brewster just signed his letter to Texas.

djskillz -> RE: RE:Gopher Football (2/6/2008 12:56:16 PM)

Brewster's a stud.  Can't wait to see what this team is capable of in a couple years.

Hope my Michigan boys get Pryor today.  That would be huge to get Vince Young II for the option offense.

I heard he cancelled his plans to announce today and that he's going to visit Penn State.  Can't imagine him fitting in that system.
