Pacman Jones Drops Three INTs
Sun Oct 5, 2008

The Dallas Morning News reports Cowboys CB Adam "Pacman" Jones dropped three interceptions today against the Bengals. He doesn't have a single pick yet this season. "Man, I don't know what's wrong with my hands," he said. "I'll be on the JUGGS machine this week. Those push-ups aren't working, so I need to go to the JUGGS."

I wonder what "Juggs" Rainman is going to. [&:]

Interconference thru week 5-

The NFC leads the AFC by 2 games
The NFC leads the AFC in point differential by 68 points (even though DET & STL are by far the 2 worst teams)

From Mark Craig's blog-

Have you seen the next three games for the surprisingly 4-1 Redskins: home against 0-4 St. Louis; home against 1-3 Cleveland; at 0-4 Detroit. Can you say the soon-to-be surprisingly 7-1 Redskins?

And they've already played AT Dallas, NYG and Philly.

They're ok I guess, if you like a team whose coaching staff learns from its mistakes, puts players in positions to succeed and keeps improving!?!

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you just said. Can you translate it into "Triangle of Authority" or "Kick-ass Offense" talk?

Jake Carlson -> RE: RE:NFL News (10/6/2008 4:08:56 PM)

No problem.  The KAO translation is as follows: Success is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Easy E -> RE: RE:NFL News (10/6/2008 4:30:53 PM)

Yup, Zorn and his team looked like they were unprepared and still learning the first game of the season. They also look to have imporved and made adjustments in their first few games. Something we're still waiting for Chilly to do after his first few years.

Won't happen, he should go.

Easy E -> RE: RE:NFL News (10/6/2008 7:03:19 PM)

Plax Burress trying his best to derail the Giants. They might be too good for him to do it. Mort just said he's been fined 40 or 50 times for tardiness since he's been with them. Maybe be mispoke and meant 4 or 5? In any event, the Plax man's comments on being benched were eyeopening. He got to take some time off and relax, get away from it... no apology. Wierd.

And they use their workhorse RB.  Campbell hasn't thrown a pick yet.  They've played a couple of games with their best defenders on the sideline.

Had 3 top defenders out against Philly
Lost their CBs against Dallas mid-game
Still winning

My feelings exactly E.

I love Zorn, but I really thought he would struggle get together with Campbell and have growing pains early. Like you say first game looked to be the case, then the get 10 days off and learned it seems like a season's worth. Giants are actually lucky they aren't playing the Skins this week as I think Washington would roll them.

I read an article on ESPN about Zorn, and his use of the West Coast offense.  One of the things they talked about was that Campbell was learning that it is OK to take the 8 yard pass.  It sounded disturbingly familiar to our KAO until they talked about Zorn's "go for it" attitude.  Being willing to take some chances is what makes that work, rather than playing to keep it close.

Raiders Subject to Penalties due to Al Davis' Tampering Accusations
Wed Oct 8, 2008

The San Francisco Chronicle, citing the National Football Post, reports Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis has received a formal letter from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informing him that the franchise is subject to penalties for last week's public accusation of tampering against the Patriots in regard to the Randy Moss trade in April 2007. According to a June 5, 2008, memo Goodell distributed to NFL clubs entitled "Policy on Integrity of the Game and Enforcement of Competitive Rules," the commissioner informed NFL team officials that any competitive rules violations must be made in a timely manner. Davis accused the Patriots of tampering 18 months after the transaction occurred. The memo also warns team owners and officials that making false claims against other clubs leaves them open to NFL-imposed sanctions. Here is the section - under Section 3, "Duty to Disclose" - that Goodell is citing regarding Davis' accusations. "Any club or individual reporting a violation is expected to do so in good faith, to have a reasonable basis for believing a violation occurred, and to produce (or to identify) evidence to substantiate the claim. In the event I determine that a claim is made in bad faith, is frivolous or that the club or person making the complaint is unable or unwilling to produce evidence to support the charge, I will impose appropriate sanctions." NFL sources said the punishment could range from a substantial fine - $250,000 or more - to possibly docking the Raiders one or more draft picks, or both.

Couldn't agree more. I grew up on the West Coast and Jim Zorn and Steve Largent, along with Jack Patera, made following the franchise Seahawks fun. Patera was a character and he gave Jim Zorn a lot of Freedom.

My favorite play ever was a fake field goal, where Efron Herrera(sp?, the kicker) went out for a pass(Zorn the holder) and I think caught it for a touchdown, maybe just a first down, anyway just absolutely fun.

Childress runs trick plays like that too, bdcause we can't seem to be able to score in redzone without them, the difference is we are not an expansion team and we should be expected to not need them to win.

Tim Cady -> RE: RE:NFL News (10/9/2008 9:59:05 AM)

Mike P, the fraud head of officials, was on his weekly review on  Total Access.

No mention of Greenway facemask on Reggie[&:]

Spineless!

Oh top player of the week was our own AWinfield, with his touchdown, 2 frced fumbles[;)].

The problem is he runs one trick play a year and thinks that is enough to make the other team think twice.

Ouch.  That hurts with TB, NYG and Washington coming up.  Looks like Jerry Jones may find a way to fire Phillips and hire Garrett after they miss the playoffs this year.

[&:][&:]

This is seriously going to be funny.  I'll actually WANT to watch Dallas games now.

In some ways this actually could be good for them though; you have to figure they'll go to Barber more now.  Maybe then they'll finally realize that HE is the key to them winning.

Seriously, they underappreciate/underutilize him like we do AD.  It's just that the rest of their team is better than ours.

Todd M -> RE: Brad Johnson back starting? (10/13/2008 11:52:45 AM)

I was a Brad guy when he was here but the thought of the Cowboys going on a losing skid and the fans hating on him pleases me.

Jake Carlson -> RE: Brad Johnson back starting? (10/13/2008 11:54:40 AM)

Or are we all underestimating Brooks Bollinger as he leapfrogs Johnson this week in practice and tears up the league the rest of the year?!

djskillz -> RE: Brad Johnson back starting? (10/13/2008 11:57:02 AM)

This is pretty interesting as well:

I have a stronger arm than John [Elway], hands down,” Cutler said.  “I’ll bet on it against anybody’s in the league.  Brett Favre’s got a cannon.  But on game days, there’s nobody in the league who’s going to throw it harder than I am at all.”
Yikes.  It sounds like T.O. isn’t the only guy in the league who loves him some him.
(Then again, Cutler isn’t the only guy on the Broncos’ offense who has a high opinion of himself.  Asked by Greenberg to list the five best receivers in the game, Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall first said “me.”  And then he paused before saying “me, me, me, and me.”)
Cutler also said that there isn’t a team in the AFC with a better chance of making it to the Super Bowl than the Broncos, and that he would be “[v]ery surprised” if the Broncos don’t win the AFC West.
