Pretty disappointing stuff.

Anquan Boldin even less valuable than previously thought
By MJD

Not content to just have a screaming match with the offensive coordinator on the sidelines (which landed him on our list of five least valuable people of Championship Sunday), Anquan Boldin carried his hissy-fit to the Arizona Cardinals postgame celebration, too.
While most of the other Cardinals were still on the field being showered in confetti and picking up their NFC Championship trophy, Boldin had already bolted out of the locker room. The behavior prompted CBS's Mike Freeman to call him a naughty word.

He tried to ruin the Super Bowl celebration with his childishness.
In the game, Boldin got into a heated argument with offensive coordinator Todd Haley. After the game, instead of celebrating with his team, Boldin abruptly left the field, then abruptly left the locker room.
It was awful behavior.
[...] I have to say in nearly 20 years of doing this, I've never seen a player more concerned about his arguing with a coach over making a Super Bowl.

I just wonder if Boldin isn't costing himself some money here, too. He doesn't want to be a Cardinal anymore. I think he's made that pretty clear. But who's going to want to give a guy a huge contract when he's fighting with a coach when he should probably be happy about going to a Super Bowl?
Presumably, he's worried about his touches. Meanwhile, the team is going to the Super Bowl. Obviously, Boldin's placing a lot more importance on the former than the latter. Teams are on a character kick these days. It doesn't pay to be a selfish malcontent.
It's disappointing to see from Boldin. He showed such unbelievable selflessness and courage by coming back from a catastrophic injury earlier in the season. Maybe there's more to the story than I know, but looking at at it from the outside, I wouldn't have expected this from Boldin.

I'd still take him, Fitz got taken care of when Boldin was doing all the heavy lifting. Then this year he comes back when he looked dead only to be not needed. I am not justifing his behavior, I just think that he was has resentment that he never got over. Could be a great opportunity for a team like ours.

I disagree with his actions yesterday, but I have thought for the last 2 years the Cards don't appreiate him. There is probably way more we don't know.

I love the last line of this story...

MCNABB’S ARIZONA YARD WAS VANDALIZED LAST WEEK

Posted by Mike Florio on January 19, 2009, 10:39 p.m.

Somehow overlooked in the days leading up to Sunday’s NFC Championship game between the Eagles and the Cardinals was the fact that a group of juveniles vandalized the Arizona property owned by Philly quarterback Donovan McNabb. The disclosure comes from Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports.

“Go Cards” and related messages were burned into the lawn.

Per Silver, McNabb took a photo of the damaged lawn and used it as motivation for Sunday’s game.

One of the culprits was identified because they left a box at the scene that contained a mailing label with his name and address.

2 questions -

1.  who is stupid enough to leave something that incriminating at the scene?  [sm=Homer.gif]

2.  who the hell carries that around?  [&:]

If someone is going to vandalize someone yard by burning words into it, chances are they're morons with little reason to live.

Nice story here (skip this if you don't like sappy)-

KURTIS THE STOCK BOY AND
BRENDA THE CHECKOUT GIRL

In a supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busily working when a new voice came over the loud speaker asking for a carry out at register 4.  Kurtis was almost finished, and wanted to get some fresh air, and decided to answer the call. As he approached the check-out stand a distant smile caught his eye, the new check-out girl was beautiful. She was an older woman (maybe 26, and he was only 22) and he fell in love.

Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited by the punch clock to find out her name. She came into the break room, smiled softly at him, took her card and punched out, then left.  He looked at her card, BRENDA.  He walked out only to see her start walking up the road.  Next day, he waited outside as she left the supermarket, and offered her a ride home. He looked harmless enough, and she accepted.  When he dropped her off, he asked if maybe he could see her again, outside of work.  She simply said it wasn't possible.

He pressed and she explained she had two children and she couldn't afford a baby-sitter, so he offered to pay for the baby-sitter.  Reluctantly she accepted his offer for a date for the following Saturday.  That Saturday night he arrived at her door only to have her tell him that she was unable to go with him. The baby-sitter had called and canceled. To which Kurtis simply said, "Well, let's take the kids with us."

She tried to explain that taking the children was not an option, but again not taking no for an answer, he pressed.  Finally Brenda, brought him inside to meet her children.  She had an older daughter who was just as cute as a bug Kurtis thought . Then Brenda brought out her son, in a wheelchair.  He was born a paraplegic with Down Syndrome.

Kurtis asked Brenda, "I still don't understand why the kids can't come with us?"  Brenda was amazed. Most men would run  away from a woman with two kids,  especially if one had disabilities - just like her first husband and father of her children had done.   Kurtis was not ordinary - - - he had a different mindset.

That evening Kurtis and Brenda loaded up the kids, went to dinner and the movies.  When her son needed anything Kurtis would take care of him.  When he needed to use the restroom, he picked him up out of his wheelchair, took him and brought him back. The kids loved Kurtis.  At the end of the evening, Brenda knew his was the man she was going to marry and spend the rest of her life with.

A year later, they were married and Kurtis adopted both of her children.   Since then they have added two more kids.

So what happened to Kurtis the stock boy and Brenda the check-out girl?

Well, Mr. & Mrs. Kurt Warner now live in Arizona, where he is currently employed as the quarterback of the National Football League Arizona Cardinals and has his Cardinals in the hunt for a possible appearance in theSuper Bowl.   Is this a surprise ending or could you have guessed that he was not an ordinary person.

It should be noted that he also quarterbacked the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.  He has also been the NLF's Most Valuable Player twice and the Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player.

The real story is even more amazing-

Tim Cady -> RE: NFL News (1/23/2009 1:23:41 PM)

Brenda was hot, until the haircut that transformed her into Alice!!!!!!!!Of the Brady Bunch.

Seriously great story, thanks Don, would love to write another chapter in Minnesota next year, if you know what I mean.

Herm Edwards gets the eventual axe in KC.
Hey Wilf ...
Herm as DC, Frazier as HC, Gruden as OC.
Put Chilly on "New Stadium Drive" Guru duty.
Vikings win SB.

I was on board with your plan until this part, man.

We'd just have to say goodbye to the Vikes then, probably by NEXT year.

So.Mn.Fan -> RE: NFL News (1/23/2009 5:09:02 PM)

I was simply trying to get him as far off the map as possible. (while still on payroll)
Let him frustrate/exasperate/fumigate every branch of the legislative process in MN for a year.
Then hire a sharp dude who will walk in like a shining knight and get the job done.
They'll be so happy to finally deal with someone with a clue, it'll be a cinch to get the stadium deal done.

So.Mn.Fan -> RE: NFL News (1/23/2009 5:14:12 PM)

Linehan hired as OC in Detroit. Thats a fit.
Shanahan reportedly almost in as new HC in KC.
Dan Reeves close to being hired as OC for Singletary in San Fran.
Interesting moves.

Wow.  Very interesting.

I would hate to be Denver right now.  Shanahan will be angry as hell and will coach the hell out of KC vs. Denver twice a year now for the forseeable future.

Yep.
He almost single-handedly dismantled the Raiders organization for years after they canned him.
He refused to lose to them.
He'll probably do the same to Denver.

Agreed

Lost in Herm's terrible record was the fact that KC led many of those games late and lost heartbreakers.

Shanny may take them over the top in a lot of those games - two in particular!

Tim Cady -> RE: NFL News (1/23/2009 9:41:49 PM)

I think Denver will regret the day they dumped Shanahan. I can't stand the arrogant prick, but the daydream of him coaching here was to unbelievable to get my hopes up. The thought of Shanny with AD and I don't if others remember this, but Denver was one of the teams that were rumored to like TJack the year they successfully traded up for Cutler.

Great move by KC. Pioli is going to enjoy his new coach against his old co-worker.

Lynn G. -> RE: NFL News (1/24/2009 11:53:29 AM)

As of yesterday evening they were correcting earlier reports and said that Shanahan was NOT in line for the KC job. I haven't checked today to see if that has changed, but it sounds like Mortenson might have jumped the gun on that report.

marty -> RE: NFL News (1/24/2009 12:44:44 PM)

Let's start a rumor that the Vikings are now talking to Shanahan.

Something like, "the Vikes seem content with Childress, but are considering an upgrade to Shanahan, if they can make it happen.  They can't believe Shanahan is available, and are just seeing what he might want to come to Minnesota."

John Childress -> RE: NFL News (1/24/2009 3:14:16 PM)

I don't think he would want KC with Dallas still a strong possibility for 2010.

Take a year off and then take over the highest profile job in the business.

Tim Cady -> RE: NFL News (1/24/2009 4:23:34 PM)

I could also see Shanahan taking the Dallas job or just staying retired since he already had pretty much the best job in the NFL.

Probably a pipedream to think he would go to Mlps or KC.

He already took a turn with a nutjob owner. Jerry Jones is one bump on the head and about 5 years away from being the next Al Davis. I don't know if Jerry has the money Shanahan would probably require to rebuild that job, and trust me that is a rebuild, not a reload job. They will win nothing with Romo.

Don T in CO -> RE: NFL News (1/24/2009 4:25:36 PM)

Shanahan and Jerry Jones could not co-exist, just like Parcells & JJ couldn't.

Then KA will start sending emails to the media, publicly questioning Wilfs loyalty...

djskillz -> RE: NFL News (1/24/2009 5:18:23 PM)

I think KC actually offers Shanahan a great job.  They have amazing fans there, some of the best in the NFL, and they do have some talent, including Thigpen.  [X(]

Plus he'd get to face owners that he has to hate at this point 4 times a year.  He could easily get 4 guaranteed wins/year against those 2 teams.
