So,  I don't remember who they were but some posters in here used to repeatedly suggest that we acquire Derek Anderson as our QB.  I always argued against that.  So do any of those posters still harbor those thoughts now?

Only starting QB in the NFL that's worse right now IMHO is JeMarcus Russell.

Good lord, Tim Couch would outplay this guy right now.

Anderson might be worse than Russell. Peter King made the same point about couch:

I've made this point in the last couple of weeks, and it's more true now than it has been all season: The Cleveland Browns are no better off today than they were 10 years ago, when they were an expansion team, in the middle of their first season back after a four-year absence from the league.

Just look at the quarterback play. In 1999, the season's midpoint came on Oct. 31. This year, it came on Nov. 1. Comparing the numbers of Tim Couch, who started Games 2 through 8 in 1999, and Derek Anderson, who has played all but the first 10 quarters this year:

1999 Tim Couch: Team win/loss: 1-7, Comp-Att: 104-196, Pct: .530, Yards: 1,161, TD: 7, Int: 5, Rating: 72.3
2009 D. Anderson : Team win/loss: 1-7, Comp-Att: 66-154, Pct: .429, Yards: 681, TD: 2, Int: 9, Rating: 36.2

Good to see Vince Young bounce back.

I hope he continues

Perhaps losing his friend McNair woke him up

Of the Eagles' 20 touchdown drives this season, just three have been longer than six plays. They had five TD drives yesterday. The longest one was four plays. Two were three plays, one was two plays and another was one play.

At the present, looks like Saints-Eagles-Cowboys are the main antagonists to be stomped in January.  That could change if the Giants or Cardinals get their acts together but right now neither is looking that good.

I expect the Cowboys to fall off in December again until they prove otherwise.

Romo almost always looks like a HoF QB early in the season before his annual collapse.

I agree on Dallas, but if all their running backs get healthy and their defense continues to improve they might be tough. I would take on the NY Giants or Cardinals any time, any place. Philly scares me, because we could dominate them and they could beat us with 3 or 4 huge plays. The Saints don't scare me, because I think our defensive line is better than theirs.

Chris Chambers cut loose by San Diego today .... any interest?
Insurance policy if Berrian can't stay healthy?
I'd put him in the "at-least-as-good-as" category with Greg Lewis.

Nope.

Berrian will have two weeks to heal up that Hammy...and it wasn't that bad since he played at GB.
Harvin is an emerging stud.
Rice is emerging as well.
Jaymar and Reynaud have done great with their roles.
Lewis has served his purpose, making a great catch to win us a game and being a 4th or 5th receiver.

We don't need the aging Chambers.  He's so good, the struggling Chargers dumped him.

Tim Cady -> RE: RE:NFL News (11/4/2009 10:32:49 AM)

Agree, Chambers always overated and never met his potential. He is better than Bobby Wade so KC makes since.[:'(]

I still say we dodged a big bullet when he signed with Seattle, he so not as smart as I thought he was. He is a dillusional baby, we just couldn't tell when he was on the same team as Chad Eightfive.

Tim Cady -> RE: RE:NFL News (11/8/2009 12:02:23 PM)

I am glad for Westbrooks sake that they are doing this. It won't matter I think the rookie will do just fine. Jackson will have big game as well and your favorite whipping boy Romo will come back down to earth.

John Childress -> RE: RE:NFL News (11/8/2009 12:07:18 PM)

Westbrook is no longer the focal point of the Eagles offense.  The less he plays during the regular season the better.

I expect the Cowboys to make a much better account of themselves this year in Philly.  I think the game will be close in the 4th with Romo making his usual game losing turnover.

Interesting how Jackson and Harvin are so similar in how they jump start their respective offenses:

Jackson
24 catches, 501 yards, 20.9 yards per catch, 4 TDs, long 71 yards
7 carries, 115 yards, 1 TD, long 67 yards
14 punt returns, 219 yards, 1 TD, long 85 yards
1 kickoff return, 0 yards

Harvin
28 catches, 369 yards, 13.2 yards per catch, 3 TDs, long 51 yards
8 carries, 39 yards, 0 TD, long 13 yards
0 punt returns
28 kickoff returns, 860 yards, 2 TD, long 101 yards

Harvin is better on kick returns and Jackson is a more polished WR at this point but the results are similar.

Oh, are you shitting me!!!!!

I saw Celeks (Eagles TE) TD pose (the Captain Morgan Stance) a couple weeks back and loved it ... and said to myself, "watch the weasels in the NFL FO flip out about that"
Yep, Czar Goodell and his crazies have outlawed it.
Unreal. Get a freaking life.
He's a 20-something kid playing the game he loves.
We aren't asking you to cure cancer, Roger, you over-officious, over-inflated, egotistical jackass of a jerk.
You can let some shit go, dude.

You think that's bad?  I heard that Goodel isn't going to suspend or fine Tommie Harris for punching the Cards Olineman in the head.

But he is still resolute in getting the suspensions for Kevin and Pat through.

So.Mn.Fan -> RE: RE:NFL News (11/12/2009 2:46:27 PM)

And I don't give a crap if Capt Morgan DID sneak a promo in there .... good for them.
Better stop letting players "run" as its a direct ploy by Adidas to sell shoes.
Or stop them from "throwing", in case people get the urge to buy frisbees.
Worry about the product you put out, Rog.
As TGS said, a punch in the head to an opponent is a little more pressing I would think.

Yeah OchoStinko gets 20k because he has a sense of humor that is not appreciated.Tommy Harris goon, but he already missed the game he inflicted the damage in so he is good to go.[&o]

We have to get the guys who took the diet pills to help with their bullshit weight clause contract requirement. They took a product that NFL teams used to hand out, that unknown anyone but the NFL changed ingredients. At this point we have taken a stance we cannot back away from. We must not ever let something like entenuating circumstances allow the Sheild to be wrong![:'(]

    ESPN Extends Jon Gruden
    Mon Nov 16, 2009

    ESPN "Monday Night Football" analyst and former longtime NFL HC Jon Gruden has agreed to a multiyear extension with the network. Gruden, who joined ESPN in September to replace Tony Kornheiser in the MNF booth, will also appear on ESPN's Super Bowl week and NFL Draft coverage, will call the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl and will serve as an analyst for ESPN Radio's 2010 Rose Bowl and BCS title game broadcasts, where he will again team with MNF play-by-play caller Mike Tirico. "Working with Mike, [Ron Jaworski] and our entire Monday Night Football team is the most fun I have had in years, and I am fired up to make this long-term commitment to ESPN," Gruden said in a statement. "Monday Night Football is special and I look forward to remaining a part of it and continuing to call these great games."

    Since MNF already sucks, might as well keep the faith. [&:]

Let the conspiracy theories begin!! I was out for drinks with several attorneys tonight and several of them have worked/still work for NFL franchises. After several cocktails they all mentioned how insincere the apology was for flipping the bird. When I inquired further, they all were in agreement that this incident was absolutely staged. They all agreed that Goodell set this up to earn some points with the players/players association for the upcoming negotiatoins.

John Childress -> RE: RE:NFL News (11/17/2009 6:45:06 AM)

Goodell is very inconsistent in his application of "justice".  In fact, the NFL should move that role to a committee instead of one man.
