The Titans had no comment Sunday about a published report that they loaned former running back Travis Henry $9,800 for child support payments. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Henry, 28, fell behind on support payments for a child in DeKalb County, Ga., to Jameshia Beacham, 29, that were mandated by a previous order. Threatened with jail, he borrowed the money from the Titans to pay the bill, according to court records. Henry, a former University of Tennessee star, played for the Titans in 2005-06. He was acquired in a trade with Buffalo in the summer of 2005, and received a base salary of $1.25 million that season. Last year Henry made the NFL veteran minimum of $585,000. The newspaper reported that Henry, 28, has fathered nine children by nine women in Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina and Georgia. He has been ordered to provide child support for seven of them, according to court records involving the child living in DeKalb County. Henry, who now plays for the Broncos, has a $25 million contract and a base monthly salary approaching $50,000. Court records show that he spent $100,000 for a Mercedes and $146,000 for jewelry. Trust fund ordered Last week, DeKalb Superior Court Judge Clarence Seeliger ordered Henry to provide $3,000 a month for the 3-year-old boy he fathered out of wedlock with Beacham. However, the judge added an unusual provision to the order, which is believed to be unprecedented in Georgia. The judge wants to ensure payment by having Henry establish a $250,000 trust fund for the boy by next spring. That way, the judge said, Beacham will get timely payment if Henry falls behind on his installments again. Henry's lawyer, Sheil Edlin, said the trust fund amount could force Henry to appeal the ruling. "He has some concerns and he's weighing his options," Edlin said. Beacham's lawyer, Robert Wellon, said requested the trust because Henry rarely made payments of required by the earlier order, which were $800 a month. Edlin said even though Henry received a $1 million signing bonus from the Broncos, he collected much less than that after taxes, and much of it went to debts. "He doesn't have any money," Edlin said. "The guy has significant financial issues." Wellon, said that Henry wanted all of the children to visit him at training camp. Part of the custody arrangement with Beacham requires two weekend visits with Henry when he is playing. "I know these are a lot of kids, and there might be some questions about it," Edlin said, "but he's a really committed father."

Illinois State Police today were investigating an overnight crash on the Edens Expressway of a Lamborghini luxury sports car belonging to Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs. The heavily damaged 2007 Lamborghini Roadster was found around 3:14 a.m. off the northbound lanes of Interstate Highway 94 near Devon Avenue, Illinois State Police Sgt. Theodore Whittier said. No one was found inside the car and there was no indication that anyone was injured in the crash, Whittier said. Temporary Texas license plates were on the car, but permanent Illinois license plates registering the vehicle to Briggs were found inside, Whittier said. It was not immediately clear whether Briggs was driving the Lamborghini at the time of the crash or whether anyone else was in the car. The vehicle had not been reported stolen, Whittier said. A Chicago Bears team spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment early this morning.

REPORT: BRIGGS AT NIGHTCLUB BEFORE CRASH ...Bears coach Lovie Smith got mad yesterday when reporters asked him if alcohol was involved in the crash. "How did we get to that?" Smith asked. "We have a one-car accident, and now alcohol is involved? I think that's stretching it a little bit." ProFootballTalk Gee, Lovie, I don't know how anyone could possibly think that alcohol was involved. I mean, all the guy did was flee the scene of an accident at 3 AM in the morning, abandoning a $350,000 car, after visiting several nightclubs. Gosh, why would anyone think alcohol could be involved.... :lame:

Okay but you have to PROMISE ! ----------------------------- Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority crews yesterday determined that sediment in the plumbing system at Heinz Field was responsible for water pressure problems that caused the closing of some restrooms during Sunday night's preseason game. Early in the game, Heinz Field officials learned that flushometers on the urinals on the stadium's main concourse, club level and fifth level of seating were open and running continuously. Some restrooms were closed and stalls were closed in some men's rooms. Fans were permitted to use other restrooms on the condition that they not flush. Heinz Field crews eventually were able to isolate the problem areas and gradually restore pressure. Holly B. Wojcik, spokeswoman for the water and sewer authority, said the source of the sediment in the lines was unknown and officials could not predict how and when the problem would be solved.

Good column. You can never get back those important moments with your family, especially when they are absolutely screaming for help (ala Reid's sons).

Jeff Jesser -> RE:NFL News (8/29/2007 8:58:08 PM)

That is bad news and Reid should be ashamed of himself for not being there. To me it reeks of him passing off the responsibility of a father on someone else. I don't expect him to sit there and coddle his son(s) but he should be there at his side telling him A. You aren't alone, we'll get through this and B. I am here watching you and I, as the father figure, will not sit around passively and let you destroy yours, and possible others lives. A good father would be there for support with a boot up his ass. Tough love, if you will, but you can't administer it when you are at preseason games.

Jeff Jesser -> RE:NFL News (8/29/2007 8:59:50 PM)

A different question because I only know of bits of that story. Why is that man (he's 24 now, Kid doesn't apply) not in jail? I don't know the specifics of the whole thing but just in that article he: DWI Pulled a gun on a man Had drugs in his car If that were you or I, we would be doing some form of jail time.

I disagree. My kids will always be my responsibility. Plus, they live at home, they are not working, and he buys them cars and things. Britt is now locked up. His bail was revoked after the DUI and they found 200 pills on him! He was out on parole awaiting sentencing for the first string of incidents when he did the second one. The judge then pulled the bail and ordered him held. He may end up getting 1-2 years in prison for this.

They aren't his responsibility as far as society goes but they will always be his responsibility as far as family goes. That may not make sense but hopefully you know what I mean. There is a point in all peoples lives where you need to cut the chord and let them hit rock bottom. If they won't try to help themselves, our help will only mask the real problem(s). I don't think that's the case here. These sound like little rich white kids who were father starved and acting out for attention. That in itself is a bad issue but it's at a point now (and it sounds it's been there for a while) where Andy needs to be there as a father figure and let his kids know "not on my watch". Firm yet supportive until it turns around. If he doesn't there are 2 paths. 1. kids in jail for life 2. kids dead 3. innocent people dead and kids in jail for life

I'm not advocating using steroids, I just think people have a misconception about what they do. You don't take a pill and magically grow muscles, you are able to work out longer and decrease the time between workouts. People who use steroids do so in order to work out harder and longer than others. So they don't enhance talent, or skill, or anything else. The allow you to work out like a maniac and "grow" more muscle, if you put in the extra time.
