ORIGINAL: Mark Anderson If they stay home, they will have the same if not better chance of catching and spreading. Look at what happened to Oklahoma players. No, they don't. That's just absurd. And do you really think that we have had 150,000 additional suicides as a result of staying home. We never had a chance of saving half of the 150000 lives. The virus was probably here in Dec/Jan/Feb. Nursing Homes in some areas never had a chance. Think about these players for a second. In a controlled environment on a campus with mostly young people or back in urban areas where there is a good chance none are following the guidelines at all times. It has been one of the big problems on why we can't get in under control. Probably half of 18-25 year olds don't take it very seriously. As far as the suicides, depression, assaults at home. I would say that it is easier a higher number than the number of young kids who have died from the virus. Easily could have save a huge chunk of the 170,000 who died. Europe has proven that. Most countries over there have a far greater population density than most of the US. Cramming all these kids together in one place, having them practice, sweat and hit each other just creates a huge incubator. Practice facilities become petri dishes. Then they go forth and spread it to the rest of their communities. Kind of like all the invincible young folks during spring break. Suicides and depression vs young people dying or having lungs and hearts scarred? You'll have to show me actual numbers that show those things are occurring at a higher rate than normal this year. I don't know how well college could contain the Virus, but so far it seems like all the pro sports have things under control. I know the Marlins had a very bad outbreak, but apparently, unless they're doing a great job covering it up, they caught it before it affected family and friends of the team and staff and everybody is recovering nicely. The NBA and NHL with bubbles are reporting no cases at all. The NFL weeded out potential problems upon opening training camps and it seems that everybody that had to be quarantined has now been released. My inkling is that college sports can safely be resumed. I could be wrong about that and need to know more.
