Poindexter: Here's the deal Vick. If you plead guilty (to something guilt is 100% assured) not only will you NOT spend any more time in jail but it will pave the way for you to spend the last 6 months of your sentence in a halfway house.

Vick. Hmmm, let me think about that.

That will make Vick a 4 time felon when he applies for reinstatement.

Let's see, what Vick did was about 100 (generous) times worse than taking diuretics so 4x100 = 400 games.

From Fanhouse:

It's hard to say there is good news anywhere in the Michael Vick story. Vick sits in a federal penitentiary, Falcons owner Arthur Blank has seen his reputation take several hits over the past year, and the Falcons are starting over as they try to recover from their quarterback's conviction.

But one year after Vick was formally charged in connection with his dogfighting operation, there are 47 true winners. Of the 48 dogs that were found in Vick's kennels. Only one had to be put down because it was too vicious to save. As the Washington Post explains, 25 of Vick's dogs have been placed in foster homes, while 22 were deemed to vicious to immediately be placed in foster homes, but they are being retrained at a specialist facility that works with difficult dogs.

But several of the former fighting dogs have acclimated well to getting back into regular society. One is now a therapy dog who visits cancer victims while another is training to become a Frisbee catch competitor. Others have gone from fighting to now lounging on couches around other pets. And it looks like the majority of other dogs who were too ill-tempered to immediately give to foster families should eventually be able to get new owners as well.

So while Vick's now bankrupt and the Falcons will take years to recover from his guilty verdict, the true victims in the whole situation are doing a lot better a year later. Some of them still show the scars of their time at Vick's kennels, but they have apparently made some pretty remarkable recoveries.

If it was such an evil breed more than 1 dog would have had to be put down.

Nice story.  I am sick of hearing how awful this was for the Falcons though.  The criminal justice system did what the owner was too stupid to do.  They are so much better without him.

Whatever happened to Michael Vicks' dogs?

It's crazy but only 1 had to be put down because it was too aggressive.

I feel for the dogs, and am glad they're doing good and all, but I do think the media has gone a LITTLE bit over the top on all the Vick stuff.  At a certain point we all have to remember that at least these are dogs, not people, we're talking about.  Is what Mike Vick did worse than what Pacman Jones or others have done?  I don't think so.

I'll never forget that an uncle of mine years ago stepped in between a moose and a dog to save his dog.  Maybe my brain works differently or something, but geez, it's just a dog.  That's ludicrous IMO.

Not trying to be insensitive; sorry if it comes across that way.  Again, I do feel for the dogs and am glad they're doing well now for the most part.  But geez, don't we have more important issues/criminal acts to talk about?

Bingo!

There are guys playing in the NFL who have been part of MURDER plots against HUMANS!

PETA can kiss my rear

I hope someone signs Vick

Dog people don't care about people and people  people don't care about dogs.  It goes both ways.

I care a lot about dogs and used to breed them many years ago.

They still pale in comparison with a human life.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/6/2009 2:58:13 PM)

My wife and I work at an animal shelter and that post was serious.  Most (not all) real dog people don't like actual people.  It's just the way they are wired.  They can't relate to humans but they are a perfect match for animals.

Duane Sampson -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/6/2009 2:59:51 PM)

That's a coincidence. Toby's wife and my wife work at animal shelters also.

Seems we've got it covered. [;)]

The Canadian bloke has ties to one too.  Good company [sm=Smoker.gif]

IMO Vick should be forced to watch "Marley and Me" before he gets reinstated into the league.

Oh co'mon now, I love Jennifer Aniston and can tolerate Owen...you mean that movie is not good?[:@][;)][:-][&o]

Duane Sampson -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/8/2009 7:36:52 AM)

You'll have to let me know, Tim. You may find this astonishing, but... I don't watch those kinds of movies. [&:]

Lynn G. -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/8/2009 8:37:39 AM)

Imagine the following scenario:

A couple of years from now, sweet, adorable little girl comes to Grandpa Sammy and asks him to take her to see the movie about that doggy.

Slithering gob of goo grandpa says ...

"Sorry honey, I don't watch those kind of movies."

Call me crazy - - - I'm seeing a slightly different response.   [;)]

djskillz -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/8/2009 9:15:37 AM)

But I'd have more respect for Sammy if that WAS his response.  [;)]

Seriously, Owen Wilson in a kids dog movie.  That's pretty much my idea of hell.

Lynn G. -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/8/2009 9:30:33 AM)

It's all about the kids Dustin.   Seeing awful movies for their entertainment is just one of a zillion things you do for your kids.  I sat through one of those Ernest movies for goodness sakes!

I know, I know.

Duane Sampson -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/8/2009 10:15:42 AM)

I could do just about anything for kids. Hopefully my girl will cut me some slack. [:D]

Easy E -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/8/2009 11:56:39 AM)

I haven't seen it, but I heard that movie is not really a kid's movie at all.

John Childress -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/8/2009 12:03:55 PM)

Jennifer Aniston reminds of a Honda Accord - very good transportation but no excitement at all.

I guess Brad felt the same.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/8/2009 12:10:43 PM)

You make me want to go out and buy an Accord at lunch [:D]
