The "not ripping the Broncos" part I have a hard time believing...but if they fired him before the completion of his contract...they are on the hook to pay that.  Same thing happened for 2 years after the Vikes canned Da-Knee.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Mike Vick case (7/20/2009 1:30:52 PM)

I think it was a goof playing off the fact that GB wanted to pay off Farve last year not to play.

I think the conditions of Vick's reinstatement will prevent a team from signing him.

I don't see anyone signing him unless a starter goes down in preseason.

No doubt

And I would NEVER EVER guess the Eagles would take him

Never in a million years

the good news is we can stop talking about the Vikes taking him...and we can go back to the acquiring Favre discussions.

In 2009, law enforcement completed the biggest bust of dogfighting operations in American history, pulling 427 animals out of rings in Missouri and surrounding states. Dogs rescued from the "Missouri 500" case, as it became known because some of the dogs subsequently gave birth, were given shelter and cared for by the Humane Society of Missouri.
In the past, it's likely none of the dogs would have even been given a chance. But over the span of months and years, the Humane Society tried to rehabilitate and find new homes for all the animals.
As of now, 247 of them have made it.

I really can't cry over some dogs when there are human beings homeless and hungry in America. Maybe they could feed the dogs to them?

Jeff Jesser -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/30/2011 8:38:41 PM)

True dat.

I can't really cry over over some humans being hungry in the fatest country in the world when there are jackasses abusing animals. Maybe we can grind them up and feed the homeless animals? At least the homeless animals aren't sucking Americas tits dry with welfair. But, to each his/her own I guess.

See how that works?

Still amazed that people pass this off as nothing.

That's like frying people up to a crisp by setting a fire and locking them in and then taking credit for bringing it to attention.

Yes, Vick raised the profile of dogs being mutilated and strangled for kicks. Not sure how much I'd "credit" I'd personally give him for it. It's not like he was on a crusade for good, he was in it for the sick, twisted, demented kicks.

I wouldn't want him to get credit for shit, but I think the point is, no matter how heinous the whole deal was SOME positive did come out of it.

I just read an article today about the most hated athletes. Lebron James was #1 btw so that kind of shows how little worth the piece has, but to the point when describing Vick, the knock on him was that he "participated" in a dog fighting operation.

IMHO that is exactly the reason why some pass off what Vick did. Some people probably don't even know all the gory details. It gets stated over and over, and heck his criminal charges reflect only that, the interstate gambling; or as in this article - the "involvement" in dog fighting.

Vick getting things glossed over and peoples inability to recognize the things he actually did, or ignorance, is doing his cred a lot of good. He's a feel good story mainly for the reasons I just stated.

100 sled dogs slaughtered in Whistler when tourism slumped: Report

The man responsible for the "execution-style" cull of 100 sled dogs that were no longer of use to the Whistler-based Outdoor Adventures "due to a slow winter" season had known a lot of the dogs and was traumatized so much by the slaughter he now suffers from nightmares, panic attacks and depression, according to a confidential workers compensation review decision obtained by the Vancouver Sun.

No different than shooting helpless animals

He killed dogs

Whoopee

Lynn G. -> RE: Mike Vick case (1/31/2011 10:21:14 PM)

Killing dogs - no big deal.

Any thoughts on first torturing them? Does that reflect the character of a man?

Vick's skills, personality make him popular within NFL fraternity

The people who matter have moved on.

Some folks here should do the same.

GW Bush can kill 100,000 innocent Iraqis with no beef.

It is the same as all the nonsense about Tiger Woods. Meanwhile, John Edwards, a guy running for President - not a golfer, is banging an aide while his wife is dying with cancer!

Same ole same ole

Some people have the racism so deeply inbedded in them they don't even see it.

Now that OJ is locked up and MJ is dead they must find a new Black man to hate.

Enter Michael Vick

Todd M -> RE: RE:Mike Vick case (1/31/2011 11:32:23 PM)

Could have gone my whole life without hearing that sled dog killing spree article. Not sure what the point of it was. No sympathy for me towards this guy.

Traumatized after killing 100 dogs.

1-30 just a day at the job
40-60 having a rough day
97 I HATE MY LIFE
98 THIS IS HORRIBLE
99 I CAN'T HANDLE IT
100 traumatized

**** that guy. I guarantee there are channels for that sort of thing. What a waste of life.
