Duane Sampson -> RE:The Packers (7/17/2007 5:43:23 PM)

F_CK J_ _ B_CK

Toby Stumbo -> RE:The Packers (7/17/2007 5:43:46 PM)

I would like to buy a vowel.

Duane Sampson -> RE:The Packers (7/17/2007 5:46:51 PM)

I have a shirt that says exactly that! ;)
F_CK J_ _ B_CK
Sammy... Sorry if I give this away, but, if the above spells 'Joe Buck', well Joe Buck is a nitwit. He should stick to baseball.

Recently an executive (Jones) within the Packers organization had to retire for 'health reasons.' The story on NFL.COM indicates that there was something else causing this? Does anyone know the TRUE reason?

Lynn G. -> RE:The Packers (7/24/2007 5:26:56 PM)

Thom, Even the Green Bay media doesn't know the true reason. I was in Green Bay this past weekend and listened to a bit of talk on the FAN in Green Bay, and they're very perplexed. When the news first broke that Jones was not going to be stepping in for Harlan as expected, Harlan was very adamant in his news conference that it was NOT a health issue. Now the team is releasing a statement that Jones is voluntarily stepping down for a health reason. Which time is the lie? Speculation is that Jones has a leadership style that is extremely obnoxious and no one could get along with him, which sounds pretty much exactly like the Fran Foley problem.

Cheesehead Craig -> RE:The Packers (7/30/2007 5:54:26 PM)

The kids are looking fairly good in camp already, especially the WRs. So far 3rd rd pick Jones has caught everything thrown at him. I know it's only camp, but it's sure better than seeing "looked lost and is having problems with drops".

Here's a clip of Aaron Schatz from "Football Outsiders" on ESPN yesterday. He has nice things to say about the Packers -and- a certain Vikings player as well. Watch the clip, then get your $$$$'s down in Vegas! :lol: http://www.youtube.com/v/yKhpWFw4scM

Lynn G. -> RE:The Packers (8/1/2007 5:20:36 PM)

The Packers as a superbowl possibility? And the guy doesn't even LOOK like he's on drugs. :D

Cheesehead Craig -> RE:The Packers (8/1/2007 9:00:52 PM)
The Packers as a superbowl possibility? And the guy doesn't even LOOK like he's on drugs. :D
Well, he did say they were a long shot. I'd be happy with playoffs. :beerfoam: There are a lot of encouraging things coming out of Packer camp. It's fun riding the wave of good news, but it's camp. No predictions from me until camp and preseason are done. To me, it's all on our OL. If they can get the ZBS working we'll be in real good shape.

Lynn G. -> RE:The Packers (8/2/2007 4:12:10 AM)

Yeah, just teasing Craig. I'm not going to count any team out in August (except maybe the Raiders). :D

Extra workload hindering Harrell By Tom Pelissero tpelisse@greenbaypressgazette.com Extra repetitions with the Green Bay Packers' short-handed defensive tackles group haven't expedited first-round draft pick Justin Harrell's progress. If anything, defensive tackles coach Robert Nunn said Tuesday morning, the added workload has slowed Harrell down. "When we've had to put more reps on him, that puts him deeper in the hole, really," Nunn said of Harrell, who missed all but three games last season at the University of Tennessee because of a ruptured biceps tendon. "He's not had recovery time. So that's what we've got to do, is get him a little more recovery time." The presence of Ryan Pickett and Johnny Jolly, who returned Tuesday morning after missing four practices because of a failed conditioning test, helps spread the workload for a group that lost rookie Daniel Muir to an ankle injury Monday. Corey Williams and Colin Cole continued to play with the first unit Tuesday morning, with Pickett and Jolly as the second pairing and Harrell seeing limited action and visibly struggling amid temperatures around 90 degrees.

Cheesehead Craig -> RE:The Packers (8/2/2007 4:26:00 PM)

Harrell is still working himself into football shape after being out for so long with his injury. Not exactly what one wants to hear about the first round pick, but it is what it is. I'm hoping once the other DT's get some more practice time and the load lightens on Harrell, he'll start looking better.

Sydney Speaks! Too much hype By Harry Sydney mybrotherskeeperinc@hotmail.com Posted Aug 7, 2007 Mike McCarthy has been saying all the right things about this year's Green Bay Packers, but is he being realistic about the team's ability to win games? PackerReport.com's Harry Sydney offers his thoughts. With more than one week of training camp complete, I believe Mike McCarthy likes what he has seen and, for the most part, so have I. Please understand, this camp won’t be about the usual suspects because we know how they will do. We have seen them time and time again. Trust me, I didn’t need to see Donald Driver run routes and make catches at Family Night because I know he will show up in games and he’s earned the new contract extension the Packers just gave him. Good job to whoever made that call! On those same lines, the fans at Family Night got to see Brett run out onto the field for the start of maybe his last year, especially if they normally don’t get to attend games during the regular season, so that night might have been priceless. But again we know about Brett Favre and Donald Driver. They are proven we know what they are made of we know that they can pass the test, but can others? Also, remember Family Night is designed to be successful because Mike McCarthy and his staff put the offenses and defenses in position to be successful. That’s why they will play the number one offense against the number two or three defense, and vice versa. That’s why I didn’t get too caught up in that scrimmage because it’s just the first week of practice. Believe it or not the guy that has probably gotten my attention more than any player has been Mike McCarthy himself. I don’t know about you but the way he makes this team sound you would think it was primed for a Super Bowl run. I like positive, believe it or not, but sometimes it sounds so much like false chatter. It’s like he is still trying to convince himself as well as the players, but unfortunately that can come back to bite him in the butt. Here’s how that can happen: Don’t think that either Vernand Morency or Brandon Jackson will be the answer because that won’t happen. They will be just good enough to be average. I know Mike McCarthy believes in what he says and he’s supposed to because if he doesn’t who will? But I wish he would take notes from some of the others that coach the game. Guys like the late Bill Walsh, Mike Holmgren, and Andy Reid and, for that matter, Bill Belichick. They always want more from their teams and are never satisfied, not even close, they need more. Nothing is a substitute for perfection. Mike McCarthy seems too happy and satisfied with just going in the right direction. Don’t get me wrong, he is a very likable guy and I respect his philosophy. I like the way he practices because he appears to cover every detail. I have seen some very out-the-box great drills that may seem like a waste of time, but he has a reason and objective in everything he does. There is no wasted time. I just worry that in his excitement and enthusiasm that he doesn’t create an atmosphere of raised expectations and can’t deliver. I don’t want him to go through the curse of the young coach who starts to doubt himself because the results aren’t what he thought they would be. Then throw on having to face a tough schedule without having the luxury of being able to start slow. I know in the past I have talked about ‘coach talk,’ but in this case I think Mike McCarthy just might be going over the top. I am looking forward to an interesting season that will bring about many ups and downs I just want everyone to be clear on what their expectations should be and don’t believe everything positive that comes out the mouths of coaches because, think about it, what are they supposed to say? Like I have said I am a fan of Mike McCarthy, but let’s not think this offense is going to transform into a powerhouse just because the offensive linemen have worked together for a year. I just don’t want Mike McCarthy to be so good of a salesman that eventually because of the talent, or lack of it, he can’t deliver. That would be a shame. The reality of the situation is that in order for this team to win, it is going to have to play over its heads and catch every break, and win on defense, hoping they get something from the offense. In other words, please don’t BELIEVE ALL THE HYPE!!!!!!!!!! I don't :beer:

Cheesehead Craig -> RE:The Packers (8/8/2007 10:36:40 PM)

Harry Sydney has been a fairly pessimistic Packer writer for quite a while. Just like one takes what the coaches say with a grain of salt, I take what Harry says with a grain of salt as well.

Todd M -> RE:The Packers (8/12/2007 8:04:40 PM)

Brett Favre goes 2/7 for 7 yards. :comfort: It's ok Favre, atleast you didn't throw any picks.

I've known people who call in on his show and question his take on things and he berates them and has hung up on them. A lot of things he has written have been pessimistic. Granted, there hasn't been a whole lot of positives in the last 2 seasons, but he generally goes over the top.

-- Robert Ferguson Done as a Packer -- Thu Aug 16, 2007 The Press Gazette reports WR Robert Ferguson's career as a Green Bay Packer is over. HC Mike McCarthy said after practice tonight the team is talking with several teams about a possible trade, but even if one is not worked out, Ferguson will not play for the Packers again. A final decision is expected Friday morning. "We're going to go another direction," McCarthy said. "That's where we are right now. That's all I've got for you." McCarthy said he met with Ferguson about 5 p.m. to inform him of the decision and tell him not to come for the 6:30 p.m. practice. McCarthy mentioned the improved play of WR Ruvell Martin and WR Carlyle Holiday as factors. "Just like I told him today, I think Robert Ferguson's a talented young man," McCarthy said. "I thought he busted his ass the whole time was here. I think he's a true professional. But we've gone another direction, and that's where we're at right now." I wonder how an Ass-Buster would fit into a Kick-Ass offense? :lol:

Cheesehead Craig -> RE:The Packers (8/17/2007 4:56:26 PM)

There is great rejoicing in Packer land today. Finally we can rid ourselves of this waste of a roster space.
