Well, if I never ever need medical help, I can start loving your cops, Lynn.

If you ever need a d*ckhead candyass hiding behind a badge, you can start hating my cops.

Jim Frenette -> RE: RE:Police Blotter (6/9/2008 11:30:34 AM)

I watch cops a lot, and at times I see the bad guy cooperating and they still feel they need to have 3 big sit on him including a knee with full weight on his head

Duane Sampson -> RE: RE:Police Blotter (6/9/2008 11:52:57 AM)

There's good and bad cops. I've just met most of the bad ones I guess.

My first post here was justing pointing out what a waste of time the field test are.

How about saying the alphabet backward? Who can or wants to do that sober? [&:] Ithink I'd be concerned about someone who could do it. And before you jump me Lynn, I do know what it's designed to do and seeing if you can do it is not what they're after. I just like making fun of it.

What's that Steve Martin movie where he has to walk on his hands, etc.? Man with Two Brains? Can't remember. JJesser will know. It's great!

Lynn G. -> RE: RE:Police Blotter (6/9/2008 1:20:28 PM)

I always get a kick out of the one where they ask someone to say the alphabet, but they're supposed to start somewhere in the middle - say at "j".  But the caveat the officer usually says is - "without singing it, can you say the alphabet ..."   It's funny how most people have trouble reciting the letters without the tune that goes along with it.

I have no doubt there are bad cops.   There is one in Bloomington I'd just as soon see get the boot.   But I think you start to appreciate them more when a) you call them for an emergency or b) you spend a lot of time watching what they do for us out there.

Police to Attempt to Question Lynch Today
Thu Jun 12, 2008

The Buffalo News reports investigators for the Buffalo police and Erie County District Attorney Frank J. Clark will attempt to question Bills RB Marshawn Lynch today at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Lynch and at least three other Bills players are believed to have information about the hit-and-run accident involving Lynch's sport utility vehicle and a pedestrian in the city's Chippewa Entertainment District. Police say they have received no cooperation from Lynch and little cooperation from his teammates in their probe of the accident that injured a 27-year-old Ontario woman who was struck while crossing the street at West Chippewa Street and Delaware Avenue on May 31. Buffalo Police Officer Allan A. Kasprzak will go to the stadium in Orchard Park this afternoon and try to question three or more Bills players about the night of the accident, authorities said. "I expect [Bills players] to be cooperative and truthful," Clark said. "If I get any indication that they are anything less than cooperative and truthful, I will go to the grand jury, which will compel them to testify." That could cause trouble — not only for Lynch, but for any other Bills player who is less than truthful. Police said a grand jury probe would turn what is normally a routine police matter into a confrontational, high-profile inquiry that could last for weeks, even months. As of late Wednesday, no charges had been filed in the case, and Lynch, 22, one of the NFL's top rookies last season, still had not spoken to police. Lynch's attorney, Michael P. Caffery, took issue with the idea that he and his client haven't cooperated with authorities. "I've had two conferences with the district attorney's office and several phone calls with the Buffalo police," Caffery said. "As far as I'm concerned, we've cooperated." Police said that Lynch has no arrest record in New York State and has a clean driving record in the state. But some police officers in Buffalo and Hamburg are not surprised to hear that Lynch is having legal difficulties. Lynch was tossed out of two Chippewa Street bars in recent months because he brought in his own bottle of liquor, which is illegal under state alcohol laws, according to three law enforcement officials. "[Buffalo police] have been told by bar owners that he'll walk in, order a glass of pop and pour his own liquor into it," one officer said. "He was told that you can't do that, and it doesn't matter if you're Marshawn Lynch." Law enforcement officials in the Southtowns said Lynch attended a meeting several months ago with three high-ranking members of the Town of Hamburg police. At least one member of Lynch's family and a Bills security official also attended. The meeting was arranged after Lynch complained that police were being tough on him and his family, said a police official who works closely with that department. "From what I understand, it was a case of 'Let's clear the air here,'" the source said. "They thought the police were picking on them." Town police impounded a vehicle that Lynch had been using and lent to a relative. Authorities said the vehicle was impounded after that relative was arrested for violating a vehicle and traffic law. After the impoundment, Lynch went to Police Headquarters to reclaim the vehicle, but police wouldn't give it to him, because it actually belonged to a local car dealer. Lynch had a disagreement with some police personnel over the release of the vehicle, apparently prompting the clear-the-air meeting, sources said. In addition, Orchard Park police investigated one minor incident, last Dec. 13, near the end of the Bills' season. A vehicle apparently driven by Lynch struck a pole outside Ralph Wilson Stadium. Police responded, but no charges were filed, according to Orchard Park police records. Town of Hamburg police have dealt with Lynch and his family on mostly minor matters, usually involving vehicle and traffic laws. That is why one law enforcement official was not surprised to hear about the latest incident involving Lynch's vehicle. "God, no, I wasn't surprised at all," the source said. "It follows a pattern. It's the kind of stuff he's been doing. He's just so cavalier about everything. That was always my impression."

Marcus Vick Charged with DUI and...
Thu Jun 12, 2008

AP reports former Virginia Tech QB Marcus Vick has been charged with driving under the influence and eluding police. Police said a uniformed bicycle patrol officer observed Vick and a female involved in an altercation in the car early Friday. When the officer asked for a driver's license, police say Vick sped away but was stopped minutes later. Vick failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI, misdemeanor eluding police, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. The passenger, Delicia Cordon of Miami, Fla., was charged with being drunk in public. Vick was released by the Miami Dolphins in 2007. He is the brother of former Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick.

Damn and the Packers were hoping to draft Lynch last year![:'(]

Why would a guy making his bank, be so cheap he has to bring his own bottle in? Kind of a throwback to old ballroom crowds of the midwest where they just sold setups.

Just pay bar prices for the bottle Marshawn! I think you can afford it.

This hit and run leaving scene thing is going to be bad for the whole Bills team I suspect. I really thought they were in a position to do something this year, but this kind of crap will probably translate poorly.

    Surveillance Tape Fails to Confirm Javon Walker's Story
    Sat Jun 21, 2008

    The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Oakland Raiders WR Javon Walker's assault story is deemed suspicious after a surveillance tape didn't match Walker's account. Walker was seen entering a car under his own power at the Bellagio the morning he was found beaten and unconscious. Metro police have surveillance tape of Walker going to the car, and it doesn't match the abduction story he told a Web site Tuesday, the source said. It does not appear on the tape that Walker is being coerced, the source said. Walker was found in a pool of blood around 7:30 a.m. Monday about a block east of Las Vegas Boulevard. The Hard Rock Hotel has confirmed Walker left Body English nightclub sometime after 3 a.m., after spraying clubgoers with champagne. Walker also was seen at an after-party in the Hard Rock's penthouse suite. A Hard Rock public relations representative said the hotel had no information on when Walker left the property. "I was just back at my room, and at about 5:30 in the morning," Walker told TheDirty.com, "I got a knock at the door. I opened it, and three guys with guns were there. They cracked me in the head a few times, knocking me unconscious. They then robbed me of everything I had; my watch, money, everything. Somehow they got me to a car and dropped me off in the street. That's what happened." Nik Richie, who reported the abduction story on his Web site, TheDirty.com, confirmed in an interview with Vegas Confidential that he talked to Walker on Tuesday, the day after the alleged incident. "He's a good friend of mine," Richie said in a telephone interview from Scottsdale, Ariz. Richie said he called Walker to see how he was doing and the former NFL All-Pro wideout agreed to talk about what happened on one condition: Walker wanted to shoot down the rumors, Richie said, that the champagne spraying had created issues with boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., who was with his entourage at a nearby table at Body English. Walker, who suffered a moderate concussion, a broken eye socket and other facial injuries, was released from Sunrise Hospital on Wednesday. He had been found in a driveway at the Summer's Bay Resort on Winnick Avenue and Koval Lane. Walker's abduction story has been met with skepticism, given the 2,000 video surveillance cameras in the Bellagio, including valet areas, elevators, elevator lobbies and public lobbies.

Lynn G. -> RE: RE:Police Blotter (6/22/2008 10:19:25 AM)

Walker's story and the follow-up are VERY weird.   I see at the bottom of that article it says he suffered a broken eye socket, but I thought that the latest update was that it was NOT broken, which is why they felt he'd be good to go for training camp in the fall.

Some of these guys lead such messed up lives ...

The Walker signing STILL boggles my mind.

That much guaranteed money for damaged goods that's been an attitude problem everywhere he's been.

Great talent, but the guys on NFL Network nailed it - He wants to be considered a GREAT WR, but he's unwilling to do the things necessary to get there.

Brian Williams' Drunken Driving Trial Begins
Wed Jul 9, 2008

The Florida Times-Union reports Jacksonville Jaguars FS/CB Brian Williams' trial for drunken driving began Monday. A half dozen potential jurors said they remembered hearing about his 2006 drunken driving arrest. But only one said that would affect his view of the case, and he wasn't picked. Testimony begins Wednesday, nearly two years after Williams pleaded guilty and apologized to the community for driving drunk in his 2006 Bentley near The Jacksonville Landing after a night out at Club Paris. He was allowed to withdraw the plea, saying he didn't understand the process. Duval County Judge Brent Shore will decide today whether jurors will hear about those proceedings or a racial, sexist, profanity-laced rant that arresting Officer Ernest Bridges said Williams, 29, directed at him during the short ride to the jail. According to the officer's notes, Williams threatened sex acts with the officer's family, belittled Bridges with racial and sexual epithets and offered to let the officer sleep with his date in exchange for letting him go. Williams denies any such outburst, and another officer who showed up during the stop at Bay and Julia streets said he didn't hear Williams acting belligerently. The jury of five women and one man essentially will be asked to weigh Williams' word against Bridges' because other officers weren't present during the initial traffic stop or en route to the jail. Bridges testified Monday that he didn't have a video camera in his car because he had only been in the drunken driving unit six or seven months and was still using his patrol car. Williams also refused a blood alcohol test, so the only evidence of impairment is officers' observations. Bridges said during a motion hearing he had "not a clue" Williams was a Jaguar until the next morning and arrested him based on erratic driving, the odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes and a poor performance on initial field sobriety tests. Williams refused to complete the field test.

Matt Jones Arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance
Thu Jul 10, 2008

FirstCoastNews.com reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Matt Jones was arrested early this morning in Washington County, Arkansas for possession of a controlled substance. According to the Washington County Detention Center's website, the former University of Arkansas standout was booked at 4:11 AM today. Jones is entering his 4th season with the Jaguars. He was the 21st overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. Since making the transition from college quarterback to NFL wide receiver, Jones' career in Jacksonville has mostly been a disappointment. The Washington County Sheriff's Office says officers arrested Jones and two other men as they sat in a Toyota 4Runner in an unlit parking lot in a known drug area. The preliminary arrest report shows an officer saw Jones sitting in the back seat of the car with a white card with a white powdery substance on it, and a credit card in his other hand.

Matt Jones's "issues" became clearer today.
It's no wonder the guy has had trouble producing.
Obviously a very troubled individual. And thats a shame.
Million-dollar body, 10-cent brain.

Travis Henry Tests Positive for Pot Again; Facing Year Suspension
Fri Jul 11, 2008
MyFOXColorado.com reports a highly-placed NFL source says former Denver Broncos RB Travis Henry has tested positive again for marijuana. FOX 31 Sports reporter Josina Anderson learned about the positive test late Thursday night. That information came from the same highly-placed NFL source that broke news of failed drug tests by both Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams and Henry to FOX 31 in the past. “He is coming up for a year suspension,” the source told Josina Anderson.

    Brian Williams Not Guilty of DUI
    Thu Jul 10, 2008

    AP reports Jacksonville Jaguars DB Brian Williams has been found not guilty of drunk driving after a night of partying. The athlete showed no reaction as the verdict was read Thursday. Had he been convicted, he faced up to a year in jail. Officers say Williams swerved his Jaguar in front of a patrol car and had watery and bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol when he was arrested in September 2006. Authorities also said Williams was verbally abusive. Williams testified he was not intoxicated, but acknowledged he lied when an officer asked him if he had any drinks. Williams first pleaded no contest, but was allowed to drop his plea and go to trial.

    Matt Jones Denys Drugs Were His
    Sat Jul 12, 2008

    The Florida Times-Union reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Matt Jones isn't speaking about being charged with felony possession of cocaine. But his father, Steve Jones, issued a statement to KNWA-TV in Fayetteville, Ark., in which the receiver denied having any responsibility for the six grams of cocaine that were found in a sport-utility vehicle and ultimately led to his arrest early Thursday morning. "Matt is anxious to make a statement and wants to make a statement," said the statement issued to the television station. "His attorney has advised him to not say anything until they have had a chance to speak together. They will release a statement at the appropriate time. We want to make it clear that Matt was not in possession of any drugs, but that there were drugs in the vehicle and were located in the closest proximity to Matt. He does not claim any responsibility for the drugs." According to the police report, Jones was spotted in the backseat of a Toyota 4Runner when an officer on foot patrol saw him with a "white powdery substance and in his hand, a credit card that he was using to chop up and scrape the powder." When asked by the officer if the powder was cocaine, Jones said, "Yes." A first-round draft pick by the Jaguars in 2005, Jones has a court hearing set for Aug. 11. The Jaguars have declined to comment on the matter until they receive more facts concerning the case. Jones and the Jaguars could now face punishment from the NFL. The league recently added new rules that would result in fines for teams whose players run afoul of the law in incidents occurring after June 1. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell also has said that at some point he might ultimately begin taking away draft choices from teams with multiple player violations. The Jaguars have been involved in nine arrests since September 2006.

Lynn G. -> RE: RE:Police Blotter (7/12/2008 12:34:59 PM)

Okay, so the drugs weren't his.   But he was still snorting them (see the powdery substance in his hand and the credit card to cut lines).  All that means is he was snorting his buddy's cocaine.

Doesn't change the charge.

Jim Frenette -> RE: RE:Police Blotter (7/12/2008 1:20:06 PM)

Also if they were in his SUV, he is just as responsible as the person that owns the stuff. Do we know who's car it was?

PACKERS’ JOLLY FACES FELONY DRUG CHARGES
Posted by Michael David Smith on July 12, 2008, 10:39 p.m.
Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Johnny Jolly was arrested this week in Houston on felony drug possession charges, the Houston Chronicle is reporting.

Jolly, who is from Houston and played at Texas A&M, was arrested July 8 for possession of at least 200 grams of codeine, the paper reports. He posted bail of $10,000.

Jolly started seven games for the Packers last season. He is recovering from a shoulder injury and has been very limited during off-season workouts.

Neither the Packers nor Jolly has made any public comment about the arrest.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: RE:Police Blotter (7/14/2008 10:46:43 AM)

It's kind of ironic that a guy named Johnny Jolly needs codeine to get through life.
