Yeap, and some here wondered aloud if he would fit our Tampa 2 system. OVERRATED...clap/clap.......clapclapclap.

He's good, not great, IMO.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (1/7/2013 10:03:13 PM)

Agree. Greenway is "good". We need at least 1 "great".

I think he's benefited a lot from Nix III on the nose. He may well be the best player on that defense. Mosely from 'bama looked every bit as good at ILB tonight.

Congrats NDSU
Helluva team for quite awhile now.

How do you think the Bison will do at Kansas St. next year? It could be an Appalachian St./ Michigan type upset.

SoMnFan -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (1/8/2013 7:39:22 AM)

Seeing Bamas athleticism last night, impresses me even more how Johnny Football looked against them.
Not a Bama fan, but glad someone pounded Overhyped U (the Golden Domers) last night.
Men vs boys.

Bama lost a lot of talent and looked even better. One of the best reload jobs I can recall.

Johnny Football wasn't scared of that Bama D, ND seemed to be.

Guest -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (1/8/2013 8:00:07 AM)

This playoff system can't get here soon enough.

Jason Dorn -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (1/8/2013 8:58:57 AM)

I know Warmack will be gone but plug him in and AD might get that 2500. WOW that is a LG. Trade up? j/k

He looks fantastic, maybe as much of a "can't miss" there is in this draft. He already knows what it's like to play against NFL quality Tackles, and it appears that his pass blocking has improved over last year.

Not sure if ND were scared they attacked Milliner and their secondary but they just couldn't make plays.

Precisely. A 44-day layoff before the BCS title game is a joke. They don't do that in any other sport on any level. Play that game during the regular season and the game is much closer.

Thats what I saw. Just collapsed that side of the line. Huge man plus freakish athletic ability to pull and as you stated his pass protections was solid. With Warmack are rush game would greatly improve.

Checking mocks he never last past 16 or so, didnt check that many, but if you love running the ball AD running behind Kalil/Warmack the rest of his career plus Felton at FB. Sky wouldnt be the limit it would be the expectation.

Alabama is on one heck of a run.
Reminds me a lot of the Nebraska teams in the mid 90's.

I loved this guy growing up.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Steve Davis, Oklahoma's starting quarterback when it won back-to-back national championships in the 1970s, was one of two people killed when a small aircraft smashed into three homes in northern Indiana, officials said Monday.
St. Joseph County Coroner Randy Magdalinski identified the victims of Sunday's crash in South Bend as 60-year-old Steven Davis and 58-year-old Wesley Caves, both of Tulsa, Okla. Davis' parents, Jim and Patsy Davis of Sallisaw, Okla., confirmed his death Monday.

AP PhotoSteve Davis, who quarterbacked Oklahoma to back-to-back national championships in the 1970s, was killed in a plane crash in Indiana.
"We lost a great Sooner," Tinker Owens, a receiver who played with Davis, said in a text to The Oklahoman. "Sad news."
Caves owned the Beechcraft Premier I twin-jet that clipped one house before slamming into two more Sunday afternoon. Caves had a pilot's license, but it was not immediately clear if he was flying the plane when it crashed.
Davis went 32-1-1 as the Sooners' starter from 1973 to 1975, starting every game of Barry Switzer's first three seasons as head coach. Oklahoma tied Southern Cal in the second game of the 1973 season, then ran off 28 straight victories with Davis under center. The Sooners went 11-0 in 1974, then won the national title again the following year after going 11-1.
Davis' school records for consecutive starts (34) and career victories (32) were surpassed only last season by Landry Jones, who started every game the past three seasons plus most of 2009.
In the process, Davis reached out to Jones, who had been criticized after an early season loss to Kansas State by writing him a letter; Davis had been booed during the only loss of his career, a 23-3 setback to Kansas in 1975. Jones would go on to break Davis' career record for wins by beating Texas, also joining Davis, Jimmy Harris and Jamelle Holieway as the only Sooners' quarterbacks to go 3-0 in Red River Rivalry starts.
"He just really wanted to encourage me," Jones recalled. "Just keep going, keep leading those guys and keep fighting, regardless of what happens in the next game or the last game. Your focus is on this game and always to lead those guys."
The plane leaked enough fuel to force the evacuation of hundreds of people from surrounding homes, but most residents were allowed to return Monday morning.

Trotter: Steve Davis Beat The Odds
[image]http://a.espncdn.com/i/columnists/trotter_jake_m.jpg[/image]Steve Davis almost never played for Oklahoma. After another player switched his commitment to Colorado, Davis was given OU's last scholarship. The rest is national championship history, writes Jake Trotter. Story

Frank Sojka, 84, who lives in the first home that was struck, went back to his home Monday morning so he could retrieve some items. A total of eight homes remain under mandatory evacuation.
"I'm surprised people survived that," he said as he sat in his car with his son, waiting for police to move the barricade on his street.
Sojka said he was in the front bedroom of the home he's lived in for 55 years when he heard a loud, dull sound.
"I got up and went into the living room and I could see the sky through the ceiling and all kinds of debris in the far end of the living room," he said.
The front part of the fuselage sat wedged inside the third house just southwest of the South Bend Regional Airport, where the pilot had tried to land the plane Sunday afternoon.
Two others on board the plane survived, South Bend Assistant Fire Chief John Corthier said. South Bend Memorial Hospital spokeswoman Maggie Scroope said Monday that Jim Rogers was in serious condition and Christopher Evans was in fair condition.

Steve Davis' Career at a Glance
Steve Davis ran the wishbone to perfection, leading the Big 8 in rushing touchdowns as a sophomore in 1973 with 18 and in combined rushing-passing TDs in 1973 and '74 with a combined 47. His career stats from 1973-75:

PYds

A woman who neighbors said lived in the middle house that was struck, Diana McKeown, was in fair condition, Scroope said.
The plane began its journey in Tulsa, Okla. It is registered to 7700 Enterprises in Helena, Mont., which does business in Tulsa as DigiCut Systems and is owned by Caves. Spoo said he did not know the connection between Davis and Caves.
"He absolutely loved getting in the air," Spoo said of Davis.
Davis had joined the about 3,600-member congregation a couple of decades ago, but his travels and work took him elsewhere, Spoo said. He noted that in the last few years, Davis had become a more active member of the church.
"As followers of Jesus, we have two commands: One is to love God; the other is to love people, and Steve fulfilled those commands with excellence," he said.
Mike Daigle, executive director of the St. Joseph County Airport Authority, said the plane attempted a landing at the South Bend airport about 4:15 p.m., then went back up and maneuvered south to try another landing, but eight minutes later, the airport learned the plane was no longer airborne.
He provided no information to indicate if the pilot said the plane was experiencing mechanical trouble.
Daigle said Monday he has no firsthand knowledge about what caused the crash.
National Transportation Safety Board investigator Todd Fox said late Sunday the agency will be looking for the cause of the crash and "to identify and remedy any issues that could have prevented this accident."

Extremely cool
This is a powerhouse program
National stuck-ups may be shocked at these results, but anyone who's seen them play ... isn't.

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Brock Jensen backed into the end zone for the go-ahead touchdown with 28 seconds left, and North Dakota State upset defending Big 12 champion Kansas State 24-21 Friday night.

Bison Stampede FBS Schools
[image]http://a.espncdn.com/i/teamlogos/ncaa/med/2449.gif[/image] North Dakota State, the two-time defending FCS champion, has beaten an FBS school for four straight seasons.
NDSU wins over FBS teams, last 4 years

2013

2012

2011

2010

The senior quarterback led the Bison on an 18-play, 80-yard march that ate up 8 1/2 minutes, helping them convert four third downs along the way, and left the Wildcats with virtually no time left to set up a tying field-goal try.
Jensen threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns for the Bison, the two-time defending FCS national champions who have beaten Colorado State, Minnesota and Kansas in the last three years.
Jake Waters threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns for the Wildcats, who built a 21-7 lead by the third quarter before everything fell apart. Waters was picked off twice, including a desperation heave after the Bison had taken the lead to wrap up the biggest win in North Dakota State history.

NDSU would be a bowl team in the B1G.

They're a hell of a lot better than a lot of the "national stuck-ups" would dare give them credit for. Though I will say that Lou Holth called this upset earlier in the day.

drew -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (8/31/2013 9:15:26 AM)

Watching that game last night was very impressive. I think the Gophers have improved quite a bit in the last 2 years, but I still think NDSU is a better team than we are. Absolutely agree Gonz, if the Bison were an FBS team, they would be going to bowls annually. Those 2 RB's they have look like they would fit in on any B1G team.

This could finally be the year that an FBS school hires Craig Bohl away from us.

I'm surprised it hasn't already happened.

As a UNI season ticket holder I sure as hell wish somebody would.

Geeeez my Ducks scheduled Nichols State in their opener?

Best WR in the country, IMO.

AAAhh! the beauty of the Bison. unfortunately Bohl will be gone soon; tremendous success makes available for a bigger payday. What a coach he is.

JT2 -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (9/1/2013 3:03:00 PM)

Bridgewater sure doesn't look rusty. 9/9 122 yards 2 TD's, half way through the first Q.
