There's no way Evans doesn't go in round 1.

I think he will be the 2nd WR selected. Watkins first.

It seems Jamies Winston is in some trouble (just investigating right now).

Heisman Frontrunner Reportedly Investigated For Alleged Sexual Assault

It also must be said that it doesn't seem that there is much of a case.

Ryan "Son of Don" Taylor

Winston's attorney, who indicated the football star had not been interviewed by police. The report did not mention Winston by name and described the suspect as between 5' 9" and 5' 11" tall and weighing 240 pounds, according to the Tallahassee Democrat. Florida State's official athletic website lists Winston as 6' 4" and 224 pounds.

He fits the description of the suspect perfectly.

I'm sure fans in Florida, Stanford, Ohio State and Baylor think so.

I am in a college fantasy football league and I happen to have both Mariota and Manziel, so I watch as many of their games as possible. Manziel is like Tarkenton was. He runs to get away from defenders. He scrambles all over the place and all the while keeps his eyes downfield waiting for his receivers to come open. When they do, he throws a nice accurate pass. Last year he got panicked a little easier and would then just take off running. This year he looks like he's really trying to stay in the pocket and pass the ball a lot more. I would love nothing more than to have the next Tarkenton in Purple! Mariota is a good passer, but he does seem to rely more on his skills as a runner. Now that his MCL is messed up a bit, we are seeing that the offense isn't quite as dynamic without his ability to just take off running. If given the choice, I take Manziel in a heart beat.

That's awesome Ben, fits my assessment to a 'T'. I just hope the Vikes have a chance at drafting Manziel.

I didn't realize Evans was so highly regarded. Maybe the Vikes trade back into the end of the 1st round again (3 years straight), and grab him ?

JT2 -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (11/14/2013 9:15:30 PM)

The 2014 QB draft might be getting less deep. Renner down with shoulder injury. Boyd just went down with shoulder/collar bone injury. Mariota with the knee.

Lee is still a 1st rounder, IMO, but he may have to have a fantastic combine to be the 2nd WR drafted.

As I've stated a few times, I really was trying not to like Johnny Football, but the more I watch him, he just seems to have "IT"...

And part of the "IT" is how incredibly similiar to Tarkenton he looks. He doesn't have to necessarily wind up to throw like Fran did, but he scrambles to pass...

The spin moves, are eerily the same as Tark, but the thing that has started to win me over is how freakin accurate he is. Just watch how little his receivers have to adjust to almost every ball he throws.

I could be all wet on this, and my first impression of him being a too small, weak armed, immature college systems QB could very well be what he is, but all Viking fans should do themselves a favor, and just watch this kid play a couple games....

He really is incredibly accurate. Especially considering how many of his passes are on the run without his feet being planted... and as I mentioned before while he is running around his eyes are always sweeping the field looking for an open receiver. Hell Ponder only looks for one receiver, even if he has 4 seconds all alone in the pocket.

If you like Russell Wilson there is no reason not to like Manziel.

Prescott -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (11/15/2013 1:28:20 PM)

I take issue with the Russell = Manziel comparisons.

Russell is a passing QB who is mobile and occasionally runs well. Manzeil is a running QB who can also pass well (in college at least).

It's like saying if you like John Elway, you're going to love Michael Vick or Randall Cunningham.

In 4 years of college, Russell Wilson had 1481 yards and 23 TDs. Manziel had 1410 and 21 TDs his first year. And their body types are different. Maybe not Percy Harvin/Tavon Austin different, but different enough.

Manziel might end up being a great NFL QB, but I don't think of him as a Wilson clone at all.

He has thrown for 3,300 yards and 31 touchdowns this season, completing 73% of his passes. I would hardly call him a running quarterback that can also pass well. He often runs because his offensive line isn't very good.

Zoilo -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (11/15/2013 1:50:26 PM)

Wilson doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would get inito off the field trouble.
Manziel may be a question mark in that area.

He is fun to watch, though.

Tajh Boyd's game is more similar in style to Wilson.

Being that Wilson isn't available in the draft, I'll take Manziel.

Brad H -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (11/15/2013 4:10:36 PM)

If I were the Vikings, I would draft two quarterbacks.

Given their past debacles on draft day, however, they will probably not take a quarterback until later in the draft when the fans are ready to put them under the guillotine.

"With the third pick in the 5th round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Vikings select Rakeem Cato, quarterback, Marshall."

Mel Kiper chimes in: "This is a guy with some problems with his mechanics, and there is questions about his durability."

Although it is unlikely I'd like to see this as well. This years crop is just so rich.

Crazy finish in GA/Aub game. Auburn saved their season. A win in the Iron Bowl would make things real interesting.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (11/16/2013 7:06:00 PM)

That last play sealed the deal on Murray to me. NO THANKS. He "avoided" the same phantom pressure Ponder does and promptly slid in to the real one. Game over.

That's a little harsh. Murray lead them to the lead from 20 points down in the 4th quarter. He did look like Ponder on the last play, but I certainly wouldn't judge him that harshly based on one play, especially in a game where he was very good coming from way behind to take the lead.

Having said that, I don't know that Murray is even a 2nd round talent. I was hoping he would improve over last season, but he really hasn't.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (11/16/2013 8:52:26 PM)

Me? Pretty harsh???? [;)]

You're right, of course. I was being a bit sillly. I've not seen Murray enough to make a real call. Hell of a game though and he was money in the 4th.

Saw the kid play live once and one other time on TV. Truth be told, he isn't very good............yet.

John Childress -> RE: College Football (Future Vikings!) (11/17/2013 11:18:41 AM)

He has gotten a lot less time throwing the ball than his dad did at this age

He needs a lot more reps throwing the ball

He has the potential but needs the time

Agreed. He is not a running QB, he is just a very mobile QB. He really does stay in the pocket as long as he can. As Brad mentioned his O-line kinda sucks and he is forced to run around. Even when he runs around, he's still looking to pass first instead of just taking off.
