I don't think so.  They have two possible bad weather games left and I personally think that NE will be making a point to work on their running game.  Also, I don't think Brady or Moss care about those particular records, and I'd bet a bundle that Belichick doesn't care about them.

They were definately going fo the record today as Brady was heaving them up for Randy, but the Phins played him well. I know one play Brady heaved it from his own endzone, imagine Brady and Moss both tying the record on a 99 yarder!

I hope they both do it in NY next week especially after hearing Rice's comments.

I didn't think Miami played it as well as advertised.  A couple of times Moss didn't even jump.  I thought those were passes that he used to go up and get.

I can see that in December he doesn't have the same spring in his step that he did the first 3 months.  Of course people take criticism of Moss and go overboard in the other direction.  Yes, he is still fast enough to dominate the rest of the NFL.  Yes, he is still the best WR in the NFL. 

I liken Moss to Dr. J in the 80s - not quite the incredible show stopper every quarter like he was but still my favorite and still one of the best in the game.

I think we'll see 3 Brady to Moss TD's this week....An Jerry can whine and cry all he wants.....Injuries happen in the NFL and if it was an injury that prevented him from getting more than 22 then those are the breaks...Moss has had his fair share of injuries......

Where have all the media critics gone. Not only have they shut up about Moss, they won't even acknowledge his greatness because they know how off base they were. The same guys that applauded the Vikes for trading him and being able to acquire a young speedster in TW to bolster the squad (a guy who has scored less TDs in the past 40 games than Randy did in a playoff game against the Vikes most hated rival on 1 leg). Of course these guys said Randy had lost it during that 2004 season failing ot realize Randy would have come close to breaking Rice's TD record that year had the Saints DB not under cut him, forcing him to play the rest of the year hobbled. Now they must witness arguably the greatest offense shatter records mostly due to this key acquisition.

I will be cheering for Randy to hoist the Lombardi eventhough I don't really like New England.

Randy Moss gets his dream come true today with his Super Bowl appearance, the biggest stage of his football career. But Vikings fans have bragged about his talent for 10 years. We relive his rookie season with the Vikings with the top 10 photos to conjure up memories of Purple greatness.


True confessions on a Sunday morning: I didn’t get nostalgic about Randy Moss’ days in Minnesota until late last week. I was editing an article on the Vikings’ magical 1998 season and started the search for accompanying artwork. There it was – all kinds of images of the SuperFreak in 1998.

Normally, during the course of a typically hectic work day, it would be a quick search for the best photo, select it and move on. This time, however, it was not so quick. The melodic meander down memory lane sent the quick work project on a detour of the mind.

After a few dozen photos conjuring up memories of receiving dominance, it hit me. Why be selfish? Why not have let the subscribers relive the good times, too, even if it is in the context of Moss playing for another team … and finally making his Super Bowl dream come true.

So here they are, my favorite photos from Moss during his rookie season of 1998, a season every Vikings fan remembers as one of extreme highs punctuated with a thumping punch to the gut with the overtime loss to Atlanta in the NFC Championship Game. But back to the mostly good memories of Moss in purple on this Super Bowl Sunday:

Randy Moss and his routine of hanging his gloves from his helmet were already on display during his days at Marshall. In April 1998, the Vikings franchise got its first taste of Moss.

Remember Moss arriving and originally wearing jersey number 18 in minicamps? In this shot, he talks with quarterback Brad Johnson, who was expected to be the starter for the 1998 season until he got hurt and Randall Cunningham got hot.

Moss wasn't expected be quite the big hit he was, but he, Cris Carter (80) and Jake Reed (86) quickly combined to become known as "Three Deep."

Moss' talent showed in his first game, but it wasn't until the fifth game of his rookie season, a 37-24 win at Green Bay, that he had his first 100-yard game. It turned out to be a 190-yard performance that put him in the starting lineup thereafter. Even his late friend, Korey Stringer (77), had reason to celebrate after one of his two touchdowns in that Oct. 5 game.

The more he scored, the more Vikings fans became used to catching him as he jumped into the stands. For some, it became a ritual to cherish.

Speaking of rituals to cherish, Moss and Carter became one of the best receiving tandems in the history of the NFL.

If Moss' performance against the Packers wasn't enough to convince fans watching on national television, his three-catch, 163-yard, three-touchdown game at Dallas should have done the trick.

His big game against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day left the television crew celebrating his effort with a turkey and a post-game interview.

Moss' magical rookie season came to an end with a loss every Vikings fan remembers and would like to forget, a 30-27 overtime loss to Atlanta in the NFC Championship Game. Moss had 75 yards receiving and one touchdown.

I say Pony up the cash and go get him.......Doubtful he would come though as I think now thats he's sniffed a ring he will go where he believe's his best shot to get back there is.....most likely New England as I can't see there is any way they don't retool with some major FA aquisitions...and the #7? pick in the draft!

If Moss aint coming home I hope he stays in the AFC at least. Don't not come home and then end up going to a hated rival.


If he goes to the Packers I will only remember the good old days Moss, the Packers Moss will be an enemy.

He should be the one to want to come back. He said he wanted to retire a Viking and since leaving has had a chance to see a real dysfuntional organization and then a top notch one that did every thing we did in 98 and more and STILL couldn't come up with a ring.

You could not stop a 3 receiver set of Moss/Berrian/Rice with AD in the backfield. WITH a top 10 defense to boot!


Yeah I'm dreaming. At least I put it here.

There are only a few places Moss makes sense:

New England: Although they're losing players at an alarming rate.

Jacksonville: They were WR starved last year, and Porter doesn't put them over the top

Indy: Does Harrison have anything left?

Philly: Dying for a #1 WR, but Andy Reid seems to hate having star WRs.

Pittsburgh: SB quality team, although that field wouldn't do Randy any favors.

Cowboys: Moss and TO? It could either work spectacularly or it could be the greatest meltdown ever seen on TV.

Moss will attend a ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday at the Cultural Center for the unveiling of the envelope.
He'll be only the third West Virginia athlete to grace a special envelope issued by the postal service.
The other two - Los Angeles Lakers legend Jerry West and Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton - had envelopes honoring them in the early 1990s.

"Moss is a well-respected sports figure in the West Virginia area," said David Walton, spokesman for the post office's Appalachian District. "We just wanted to pay tribute to him and recognize him for his achievements."
Moss has set several NFL records during his career, including one for most touchdown receptions in a regular season. He set that record this year with 23 touchdowns.

He also holds the NFL record for single-season touchdown receptions for a rookie - 17 in 1998 as a Minnesota Viking.

"Randy Moss is to football what Tiger Woods is to golf," said District Manager Karen Schenck, who will make a presentation to Moss. "The Postal Service wanted to honor Mr. Moss, so we designed a commemorative envelope as a fitting tribute to his many talents."

They will be sold for $6 starting Friday and will be available at post offices throughout the state.
"This does not happen often," Walton said. "He's joining some great company with Mary Lou Retton and Jerry West."

Moss rebranded himself with the Patriots, who went undefeated during the regular season. Moss' single-season stats with his new team surpassed his performance for the Oakland Raiders, where he scored just 11 touchdowns during his two-year stint there.

He had played the seven previous seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, and recently inked a three-year, $27 million deal to stay with the Patriots.
