Hoping Greinke beats out Arrieta for NL Cy Young.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman floated a particularly interesting idea: The Yankees sending closer Andrew Miller to Washington for starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg. It was so interesting because it involves a pair of huge names, and it would theoretically fill a big need for each team.

Heyman was quick to note that he was just speculating and that it wasn't known whether the Yankees and Nationals had actually discussed the idea.

AJ re-signs with Atlanta

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (11/12/2015 11:37:32 AM)

Unfortunate for the O's

and an example in MN why they try not to rush pitchers, and are probably scared for Duffey in 2016

Orioles righty Dylan Bundy has been shut down from Arizona Fall League action after experiencing forearm tightness, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports. It’s certainly possible that the move is primarily precautionary, as Baltimore will no doubt handle Bundy with extreme care, but it’s obviously not encouraging given his lengthy struggle with arm injuries.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (11/12/2015 12:59:15 PM)

The Mariners announced that they’ve acquired right-hander Joaquin Benoit from the Padres in exchange for minor league right-hander Enyel De Los Santos and infielder Nelson Ward.

The 38-year-old Benoit, presumably, will serve as a ninth-inning option for rookie manager Scott Servais in Seattle. The Padres recently exercised a $7.5MM option on Benoit for the 2016 season, after which he’ll be a free agent.

If Seattle is out of it at mid-season, and he has a good year, will be a huge trade bait guy.

Angels acquire Andrelton Simmons

The Braves sent the two-time Gold Glove SS and minor league C Jose Briceno out west for LHP Sean Newcomb, Keith Law's No. 25 prospect in his July rankings, veteran SS Erick Aybar, RHP Christopher Ellis and cash.

Nice. And the Braves get 2.5 mill to help pay the salary.

Twins need to cough up some $$$ to get someone to take Nolasco off their hands.

The Houston Astros' Colby Rasmus will become the first MLB free agent to accept a qualifying offer, Ken Rosenthal reports.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (11/13/2015 6:59:20 PM)

The Red Sox have reached a deal to acquire star closer Craig Kimbrel from the Padres, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports on Twitter.

Top prospect Manuel Margot and lefty Logan Allen are two pieces of the return going to San Diego, Josh Norris of Baseball America reports (Twitter links).

There are at least some indications that the deal may include other significant parts, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports adds on Twitter.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (11/13/2015 7:00:59 PM)

Lefty Brett Anderson has decided to accept the qualifying offer issued to him by the Dodgers, ESPN.com’s Buster Olney reports on Twitter. He becomes the third player to accept a qualifying offer this year, joining Colby Rasmus (Astros) and Matt Wieters (Orioles).

Note here,
Other teams acquire Closers.

Trade Perkins

Black 47 -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (11/14/2015 3:05:31 PM)

Would be just fine with trading Perkins and go closer by committee.

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (11/14/2015 5:08:53 PM)

I'll take it one step further. They NEED to trade Perkins. He alone cost us a playoff berth last season. He's not going to accept a role in the mid innings anymore. Trade him for whatever you can get.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (11/16/2015 5:11:11 PM)

The Mariners have reached a deal with the Rangers to acquire outfielder Leonys Martin in exchange for reliever Tom Wilhelmsen, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports tweets.

It’s a five player deal that is headlined by Martin and Wilhelmsen, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News tweets. Prospects will be going to the Rangers, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports on Twitter.
