Rays go off on the Jays last night.
Man, that East is going to be a dogfight.

Houston has scored more runs this year than the NY Yankees. So have the Twins.

Dwight Goodens new bio should be a good read.
Someone read it and let me know ...

Cubs have DFA'd Marmol and 9mill/year contract.

Over-paying closers=bad idea.

He has a new one?  I read his autobiography Heat last year.  I think it was from the late 90s.  He was pitching for Cleveland at the time.  It was awesome!

In a nutshell ..... Why I love Leyland.

Stacey King -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/26/2013 10:31:54 AM)

In the debut season for the Hillsboro (Ore.) Hops, everything’s a franchise first. The Arizona Diamondbacks’ new short-season affiliate opened the doors to Hillsboro Ballpark last week with a Major League Baseball authenticator on hand anticipating momentous memorabilia — at least by minor league standards.

But after Diamondbacks prospect Jordan Parr smacked the first home run at the new park, the club and the authenticator ran into an unanticipated problem: A teenage fan with a shrewd understanding of his newfound leverage.

The team offered the 15-year-old who caught the homer a signed bat and jersey in return for the ball, but he held out for more. By the end of the game, the teenager was demanding the bat, the jersey and season tickets for his entire family, at which point team officials called the kid’s bluff and let him keep the prized baseball.

Rich bastards wouldn't spring for season tickets for the kid.  I guess that's why they're rich bastards.

One more reason I love him.

He advocates for making all of MLB play under the same rules.  He's managed in both...and wants them both the same.  Says this different rules for different leagues is wrong.  Either Use the DH throughout all of baseball or eliminate it entirely.

I agree w/himto make it uniform. Players should WANT the DH. Look at the career opportunities it presents.

MLB Trade Rumors

3:06pm: At a press conference, Teixeira confirmed to reporters, including Andy McCullough of the Star Ledger, that he's done for the season (Twitter link). Bryan Hoch of MLB.com tweets that the surgery will require 4-5 months of rest and rehab. Teixeira is hoping to be 100 percent in six months.

2:54pm: The Yankees announced today that doctors have recommended surgery for the torn sheath tendon in Mark Teixeira's right wrist. Such a procedure would almost certainly mean that his season is over.

I think that sheath thing is what started Mark DeRosa's career path going from solid regular to constant wrist problem journeyman.

Bad injury

Stacey King -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (6/26/2013 5:22:18 PM)

Josh Donaldson slugged his 12th home run of the season Wednesday in the A's defeat of the Reds. He's now batting .308/.376/.507 through 78 games this season, and he is currently on pace for 24 home runs and 103 RBI.

Converted from catcher at 26. Now a 3rd baseman, 27-years old, struggled at 3rd initially. Team didn't bail on him or freak out if his defensive ceiling is average to below. Learned on the job last season.

Now they have an adequate player.
