Man, Yankee bats just do not give in
WEARS a staff out

So many people seem to hate him, but Gardner is a grinder. A tough grinder with some pop.

Too good to give in to ... ask Twins pitchers.
He changed that game in NY for us.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/11/2017 10:28:45 PM)

And the wheels come off for Cleveland [:-]

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/11/2017 10:29:08 PM)

That at-bat will go down in Yankee lore.
Yes, even the DEEP Yankee lore.

Is that six E's in the last two games?

He's become the unofficial captain.

Great AB.

Big moments. Some love it.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/11/2017 10:33:52 PM)

Here we go .... 5-2 Yanks, bottom of nine

Ramirez
Encarnacion
Santana

vs Chapman

For all da marbles.

THAT kind of steely resolve, in a situation like that ... is unteachable, uncoachable, you have it or you do not.
Most do not.
Gardner REFUSED to lose there. Wasn't going to happen, to him.

Fun stuff, and I'm nervous.

Thought they'd hit for Jackson. What do I know.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/11/2017 10:48:34 PM)

*** The Pen. Get er done.
** Gardner. Wow, what an at-bat. Solid play all series
* C.C. Ouch, Cleveland, ouch. That's something we'd let happen to us.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/11/2017 10:48:46 PM)

Good talking to you Pete
Good to have the Yankees back where they belong ... pissing everyone off. [:D]

Yanks and Stros could be a great series.

JT2 -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/11/2017 10:54:02 PM)

That was exciting and enjoyable. Obviously I'm biased, but I love that 0-2 comeback.

Indians were heavily favored to win the series. -180 tonight.

I wonder what win % Nate Silver put on the Indians after two games.

Same here Scott. Appreciate your participation, even when it's just you. Warrior!

Houston seems to have the pitching issues in better order. Tough match up for the Yankees.

Looking forward to it. Fun time of the year..... Post Season Baseball, NFL in full swing, NBA just about to start, Donald Trump keeping us entertained or sick, I heard the NHL has started too.

I don't know about you, but I'm standing and singing the anthem right now, to myself. Wonder if that gets me any extra special patriot points? I also wonder, should it be illegal for me to kneel while I sing the anthem?

Aaron Cross -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 7:16:23 AM)

Or maybe they should just follow the NFL rule that says players must stand for the anthem. The anthem is not the time or place for protests. It’s disrespectful whether they intend it to be or not.

Strange how the person who started this movement wore socks depicting cops as pigs. He also said the flag is a symbol of oppression. Yet the kneelers say they’re not protesting the flag?

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 8:36:44 AM)

Strasburg shines .... And they're still whacking on him about reportedly being too sick to pitch the day before.

The TV ratings are incredibly high this post season.
Interesting.

Interesting.

Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs and Dodgers.

Even Houston and Nats good draws (hurricane, population, Harper).

Also the Indians vs Yankees a good national story because of Indians history and coming so close last year.

Look for the Cubs to get the benefit of all doubts tonight.

Couldn't have worked out much better for MLB.

Gotta make up for the Red Sox exit from the playoffs.

Who are you to decide the proper time for protests? Get pulled over 50 times in 10 years for driving while black and get back to me on disrespectful. The words and deeds of one man do not necessarily reflect the opinions of all the kneelers. This is no different to me than Muhammad Ali throwing his Olympic gold medal in the river after returning from representing his country and being refused service in a restaurant. Or the black power salutes during the anthem at the 68 Olympics. These are a people who 50 years later still feel like there are two Americas. If they want to exercise the ultimate form of freedom, freedom of speech, to make their point they should go right ahead.

I don't know how old you are, but I remember Ali being possibly the most hated man in America. Those filled with hate were wrong, and learned little, it seems.

Sweens is pretty damn old. But I completely agree with his outstanding post. White America expects those who aren't white to eat the shit we dish out on them and then to smile while doing it.

We have treated the American Indian in much the same way we have treated African Americans. We rounded them up, put them on the worst god awful land in America, and expected them to completely change their nomadic ways of living and eek out a living farming and ranching on the worst land we could find. Put them on the res so we can keep our eye on them.

Segregate Blacks so we can keep our eye on them.

Smith and Carlos were right during their protest. At least there is a reason in the Olympics to play the anthem. There is no reason whatsoever to play the anthem before sporting events. Honor the military and first responders? As Bob Costas put it, have they ever honored an overworked underpaid nurse or teacher during these events of patriotism.

We were told by our government that if you didn't support the second Iraq war, you were unpatriotic. Now we are being told by an orange orangatang that if you don't stand at attention during the anthem as an athlete, you should be fired. The same man who called McCain less than heroic because he was captured. The same man who told Howard Stern that his Vietnam was having unprotected sex in the 80's. He is telling us what to do on not to do to honor our flag.

NFL rules state you stand for the national anthem. Don’t like it, change the rule. But as I said, kneeling for the anthem is disrespectful whether they intend it to be or not. On foreign soil kneeling for our anthem and standing for God bless the queen? That’s blatant disrespect.

If they want to protest racial inequality, how in thee hell do they hope to bring change by offending more than half the country?

Aaron Cross -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 10:07:55 AM)

Not to mention the absolute buffoonery of killing their own league in the process.

TJSweens -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 10:18:37 AM)

Kneeling is not killing the NFL by any stretch of the imagination. Why do you think the NFL is not enforcing anything? Disrespectful is your opinion, not a fact. The protesters see it as an accurate reflection of what America is. Two Americas. One for the white and affluent. Another one for the minorities. The flag stands for all the rights granted under the constitution. And I will condemn anyone for exercising those rights. You want to end the protests? Do something about the issues that are behind them.

ewen21 -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/12/2017 11:50:07 AM)

Some people can't seem to get from point a to point B on this whole protest thing. If I decided to put my fist up during a conference and proclaim that I did it for XYZ reason and did this over and over again the constitution won't protect me from being fired. You can't go around to saying free speech and free expression is OK all the time. Your freedom of expression is curtailed at work. Beside the protest being unfocused and disorganized it's also bad for business. I said the NFL should gather up five of their smartest guys and have him speak in Congress on this issue. Time to move onto the next phase before the league loses a lot more fans. Already lost me for this season. I'm not going to support that bullshit.

You want to sit at a table and discuss racial inequalities and work on solutions? I'm all in. I've been on the front line for years
