I see they are doing off days after Game 2 and after Game 5. I thought they originally said every series would be played with no off days? Coulda swore they said the season will be complete no later than October 26. Maybe I missed something. Or they're just winging it.

Was altered from original.
Don't know why there's a need. Guess they didn't want to butt heads with the Thursday events

Manfred wants the full expanded playoffs

AND the extra inning regular season format.

Was just gonna ask about this
Was hoping for every night
Wasn't anything wrong with that
Wrap er up

Now I'll have to watch the debate.[sm=vomit.gif]

Good game Rays!
We got us a barnburner here
Cash is loaded with young good arms
The days off will change things

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/22/2020 7:28:29 AM)

If Lowe and Adames heat up …..

Crazy how they have kept winning, while a couple of their best have been scuffling
Just a solid org top to bottom

And the Dodgers have better talent coming off the bench than almost any team has starting
We've got some more roster building to do

Snell was very good.

But still couldn't make it through 5 innings.

Pitching is changing. This year with expanded rosters and more bullpen guys, it's become acceptable to just get into the fifth inning.

IMO doesn't bode well for the future.

OMG Yes. Pederson or Taylor. One sits

Meanwhile Jake Cave strikes out at a massive clip and hits .220 off the bench.

Just one example.

Mr. Ed -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/22/2020 8:01:03 AM)

And we can't have more than one of the OF/1B kids on the bench because, you know, they wouldn't get enough at bats.
VS simulation games in St. Paul?

Ummmm

Ok

A lot of the guys considered "aces" now, just don't make it more than 5 innings most nights
As you say, different world
Snell hadn't pitched more than 5 since early 2019 (injury in there tho)
But still, as you say, pens loaded with young lively arms is the way to go
And I really like how TB mixes it up
Some nights the so-called closer (or best reliever) gets the middle of the lineup, in the 6th inning
So smart. They are the Patriots/Spurs of MLB
Nothing is conventional, they read situations and react accordingly
The anti-Twins

That's what was good about the early part of 2019

Rocco said no one had a specific role and he went with that.

For a while.

Then it became a pecking order, right out of the managerial cook book.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/22/2020 9:32:04 AM)

John Smoltz has never been someone I single out while watching, but damn, that guy is good
He was about 45 for 47 last night on calling what was coming.
Outstanding analysis of the situations and what should be coming
He was simply nailing every breaking ball or fastball or location, along with every other thing we need them to do for us.
In a way that isn't favoring or slobbering over either team. He's humble and informative. And he's somehow balancing out Buck which we know is difficult as hell.
Smoltz and Aikman should be the highest paid guys in the gig, just because they have to sit next to that clown.

SoMnFan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/22/2020 11:34:47 AM)

Just an incredible moment
Eckersley has always been one of my favorite non-Twins
Class act who can talk about things like this and realize it's not worth dying over
Pretty much a miracle swing that worked out
And the rest is history

Cool to hear the scouts involvement. They can affect the game, and do.

BACK TO BASEBALL please.
Should have 5 good games left

Rob Manfred says on the @dpshow that shifts could be limited in future: "A lot of people feel that the extreme shifting that you’re talking about has changed the game in ways that are not positive and it remains a really hot topic in terms of conversation within that committee.”

pathetic.

drop a firm bunt and walk to 1st..

makes the hitters look like fools, that's why they want to limit it

It would raise Eddie Rosario's average a couple points

Sano's probably as well.
When he makes contact.

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/23/2020 5:34:00 PM)

There should be no requirements on where a fielder positions himself, other than the pitcher and catcher.

MDK -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/24/2020 7:19:24 PM)

What the hell is wrong with MLB pitchers?
Can they no longer pitch hard inside and make batters feel uncomfortable?
Gophers have to row hard.
Their boat is sinking

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/24/2020 7:56:13 PM)

Justin Turner always makes a pitcher pay for his mistake.

It was fun watching Kiermaeir try to rob the HR. He almost got it!

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/24/2020 7:58:20 PM)

Seager is a stud. Bad pitch though.

twinsfan -> RE: MLB General Information PT 4 (10/24/2020 8:02:57 PM)

They said Turner is the first player to ever have 1st inning HRs in back-to-back World Series games. That's hard to believe.
