"Ray didn't lie to the commissioner," a source with knowledge of the meeting told "Outside the Lines." "He told the full truth to Goodell -- he made it clear he had hit her, and he told Goodell he was sorry and that it wouldn't happen again."

"He told the truth," a second source said. "This is a public lynching of Ray."

A third source with knowledge of Rice's discussion with the commissioner said: "There was no ambiguity about what happened [in the elevator].

CBS pulls Rihanna song from tonight’s pregame show

In the wake of the Ray Rice domestic violence case, CBS has thought better of opening tonight’s pregame show in Baltimore with a feature including a song by one of America’s most prominent survivors of domestic violence.

CBS Sports officials told Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated that they will no longer use a planned opening segment featuring Rihanna’s “Run This Town.” Rihanna, like Janay Rice, was the victim in a high-profile domestic violence case.

Instead, CBS will begin the pregame show with a report from Norah O’Donnell, who interviewed NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday.

This was not the way CBS expected to open its coveted Thursday Night Football programming, but CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus told Deitsch that the Rice case is simply too big not to be the focal point of tonight’s game in Baltimore.

“It’s important to realize we are not overreacting to this story but it is as big a story as has faced the NFL,” said McManus. “We thought journalistically and from a tone standpoint, we needed to have the appropriate tone and coverage. A lot of the production elements we wanted in the show are being eliminated because of time or tone.”

This story has done something that few off-field stories in NFL history have managed to do: It has overshadowed the game. CBS has a tall order juggling the need to address that story with the need to satisfy fans who tune in to watch a football game.

Rice should have no problem sueing the NFL via CBA. In the end he will be a wealthy man. His playing days might well be over with.

The lynch mob has turned their focus to Goodell now. I wonder how he is going to worm his way out of this one.

Really unfortunate. RGIII was poised to have a monster game against the Jags. Perhaps this will be better for the Skins in the long run, Griffin could rest and Cousin's stock can rise so they can deal him for a good draft pick next season.

Looks to me like RG3 probably won't get the starting job back in DC. Unless Schneider steps in.

Right now, the job is Cousin's to lose

It starts Sunday against the dvision leading Eagles

He will have at least 2 months under center

If he plays well, RGIII will be the one on the trading block

I'm not sure I need the NFL to conduct independent investigations into any of these crimes. Let's let the law enforcement people and prosecutors do their job and the NFL commissioners office to theirs.

If 'Rog' survives this I may be out. With all the other injustices, on the field, that happens, it's hard to trust that the game isn't actually fixed. Up until now, I've been able to say "well, I guess that was just a bad call".


I'd be naïve to say I didn't know there was some level of corruption at play. It is, after all, big business. However, I never expected this level of corruption.
