JC2015 -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (8/31/2015 1:15:37 PM)

A few teams I saw that surprised me in the preseason

Philadelphia - I know it is only preseason and I am not a Chip fan but they are destroying every first team defense they face. The defense looks mediocre and lacks depth but Bradford, I guy I didn't even like in college, looks devastatingly good

Seattle - they look completely inept on offense. They can't move the ball on anyone. I know Lynch didn't play but you would think Wilson/Graham could move the ball a little but. The defense has been OK but the secondary has been out

Dallas - letting Murray go was dumb. Don't see them contending this year

Green bay - major injuries knocks them down from NFC favorite

Carolina - no weapons on offense = long year

I think the NFC is wide open

I hope the guy (RGIII) gets to go somewhere next year and try and build a career. What an absolute joke the franchise is for that move and the way the handled it all.

So he can poison another teams locker room? He's the original "it's all about me" guy.

Jeff alluded to the same thing. I didn't really know this was an issue.

Does it stem from being the 'chosen' one in the owner's eye? Or is that just who he is?

Bill Jandro -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (8/31/2015 3:49:28 PM)

I think Shannahan built and wrecked RGIII all in one season.

He had no business playing him in that playoff game on one leg.

That and being traded for practically the next "Herschel"

JC2015 -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/1/2015 4:37:40 PM)

QUOTE: In three games, the No. 1 offense has had 12 possessions. Those have resulted in four field goals, seven punts and one lost fumble.

Russell Wilson is 17 of 31 passing for 146 yards without a touchdown, while the team has rushed for 132 yards on 34 attempts with the No. 1 offense in the game. In what has been roughly five quarters of action overall, the No. 1 offense has 284 yards on 67 plays, a 4.2-yard average (Seattle averaged 5.88 yards per play last season, a franchise record).

After the San Diego game, in which the No. 1 offense had punts on its first four possessions and then two field goals, coach Pete Carroll said “we’re all a little frustrated with it.’’

Maybe call it the 1st team offense?

Another year, another former first-round pick flushed by the Cleveland Browns.

The team has announced that the contract of defensive lineman Phil Taylor has been terminated as part of the effort to get to 75 players.

A first-round pick in 2011, the Browns exercised the fifth-year option on Taylor in 2014. By not cutting him before March 10, his salary of $5.477 million is fully-guaranteed.

Imagine being a fan of this disaster of a team.

Fraud team

The real Browns play in Baltimore

They should have given them a new name

Pretending this is the team of Jim Brown, Brian Sipe, and Bernie Kosar is a joke

SAID THIS LAST WEEK
quote:

New York Jets receiver Brandon Marshall said Tuesday that many players in the NFL believe race played a role in Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspension being lifted.

"The race card," Marshall said. "There are a lot of players out there that believe that white players -- specifically, at the quarterback position -- are treated differently."

Duane Sampson -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/9/2015 8:49:20 AM)

That's not news. Only a moron would deny that race played a role.

JC2015 -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/9/2015 9:33:45 AM)

IMO

The Pats should have either lost a SB win or Bill B suspended for an entire year after spygate

This one was overreach to correct for that

quote:

AMONG THE FINDINGS
• Deflategate is seen by some owners as a "makeup call" over Spygate.

• From 2000 to 2007, the Patriots videotaped the signals of opposing coaches in 40 games.

• Goodell's handling of Deflategate turned around owners still simmering over Spygate; some say he is now more secure in his job.

JC2015 -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/9/2015 9:37:42 AM)

Once again, just because you don't believe race is a factor doesn't mean that others believe the same

So you are saying that if Tom Brady was black, then the judge would not have overturned the suspension.

Once again, just because you believe race is a factor doesn't mean that others believe the same. Also your belief does not necessarily match the facts, jack.

thebigo -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/9/2015 11:38:33 AM)

Frankly the article is idiotic. It doesn't really even link "the race card" that Marshall is talking about to the suspension being overturned, just as general "white players are favored over black players". If players are in fact convinced that the judge would not have overturned the suspension if the suspended player was black, well they just are not very well informed. And frankly, Brandon Marshall doesn't come off as the sharpest penny in the tree.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/9/2015 12:02:14 PM)

Seriously?

The reasoning behind the overturn had everything to do with lack of evidence and the league violating the terms of the CBA.

Until a black player is in exactly the same situation, that being banned four games for allegedly but maybe not, perhaps kind of, well it's hard to say, deflating footballs...we will never know if it would be different.

That being said, I find it hard to believe that the color of Brady's skin had anything to do with the Judge's ruling overturning the suspension.

I think it's sad that race was even brought into this discussion.

Brady shouldn't have been suspended. Only fined a small amount per the CBA. That was contractually agreed to and that's why the judge ruled the way he did...not because Gee Golly, Tommy's a pretty white boy and we can 't have those suspended for cheating...

I normally don't even respond to your nonsense but let me clear up a few things

1. I don't think race is a factor at all
2. PLAYERS think it is - you can look up many interviews

I know it is hard for you to follow along because all you can do is make smart ass remarks that are not funny but pay attention BEFORE you open your mouth (post)

Read carefully, you'll note no one stated that you believe race is a factor. Curb the paranoia. Considering your history though, you could hardly blame someone for believing that you would jump on the race card at any opportunity, the %s are overpowering. So, perhaps your paranoia is understandable.

Continue to read carefully, you'll note I stated that any players that believe that the Brady suspension overturn was due to some "race card" are just ignorant. That was the crux of the article, even though there was nothing in the article to back it up.

Nope. I'm saying it's the very FIRST thing that popped into my head when I heard it was overturned. If I thought about it, I'm pretty sure somewhere over the rainbow someone else thought of it.

Duane Sampson -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/9/2015 1:20:00 PM)

Just like EVERY time I hear that someone got beat up by a cop, I ASSUME the person that got thumped was black.

So your not saying that race played a role, your saying the thought initially occurred to you.

I don't know for sure either way. The thought occurred to me. I wonder why that was the first thing I thought?

Hmmm....
