Imagine what the Indy fans are saying now. Wouldn't want to be one.

Lynn G. -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/22/2015 9:44:26 AM)

I never feel sorry for any fanbase that has a recent Superbowl in their pocket.

marty -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/25/2015 1:53:30 AM)

Seattle gets away with lot of contact with their defensive 2ndary, just like the Packers have for much of the last 20 years.

The Packers have also stretched the league rules a little bit with their offense, but one writer noticed it, and wrote about it yesterday:

Appears that blockers have already engaged before the ball has even entered the viewing screen let alone being caught by the receiver. That shit needs to be cleaned up.

This is me complaining about bias again, but I have a question. How often does a team get two home prime time games in a row? The Packers played at home last Sunday night and play at home again on Monday night this week. That can't be a very frequent thing, right?

JC2015 -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/28/2015 10:34:26 AM)

How does a ref get away with obvious bias against Cam Newton?

QUOTE: Referee Ed Hochuli could be subject to discipline if it is proved that he told Panthers quarterback Cam Newton he "wasn't old enough'' to get a call in Sunday's 27-22 victory over the Saints.

David Levine -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/28/2015 11:52:19 AM)

I hope they come down hard on him.

I'm sick of Hochuli's "bigger than the game" attitude.

If true Hochuli should be shut down for the year as a ref.

Joking or serious, every call should be made without regard to color of jersey or age of player or whatever. I am sick to death of officiating in sports changing based on the players involved. It's one of the reasons I so despise basketball. Ed Hochuli used to be one of the games best. Now, I wouldn't want him reffing my kid's 8th grade team.

Does it give them a competitive edge?

Lynn G. -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/28/2015 11:14:08 PM)

Maybe. But it's just more of an example of the slathering that the talking heads on sports networks give them. Aren't you sufficiently sick of that?

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/29/2015 9:58:41 AM)

I haven't made it over to the other threads so my apologies if this is being spoken of already. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of last night but the Puke got another "gimme". It doesn't matter if the OT jumps because the defender "draws him" or not. If an Olineman moves, it's a dead ball, period. Another blown call in the Pukes favor.

El Duderino -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/29/2015 12:12:32 PM)

I saw that, too, Jeff. Had the same exact thought. And you just know that had that been the Vikings (or really, any number of teams other than GB), they would have called it back even if they didn't stop the play immediately.

Tim Cady -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/29/2015 12:58:10 PM)

They explain it well here:

The key is the non movement of the line and the quick snap.

I agree on the surface it seems like fun banter, but in reality it is an example of a subliminal bias that would give credence to what Marty has been trying to tell us for years.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/29/2015 2:25:03 PM)

Tim, thanks but that article makes no mention of the OT moving. It states, in fact, that they can't (and they say they don't when they clearly do).

Except the LT DID move, clearly and with the intent of getting the whistle blown before the defender could get back onside. The defender jumps, then the LT jumps (pointing at the offsides defender), then the ball is snapped. Should have been blown dead.

And now that I re-watch the second one of those, the same thing happened, though there was a bit less time between movement and snap.

El Duderino -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (9/29/2015 2:50:50 PM)

My thought is, if they're going to give Rodgers the continuation, our players need to also continue, and knock him on his ass. Make him pay with blood - no play is free!

Oh Don't get me wrong I think they move too. It just appears that they are subtler then other teams. Teddy supposedly tried it on the interception. SD player was lined up in the neutral zone but flag was never thrown. Rodgers and Greenbay though have mastered the no pointing just snap as soon as player bites with pointing happens after the snap. I did not see the Packers point.

I also realize I jumped in on different cheater conversation about the Packers and the pre ball blocking Offensive PIs that rarely get called. I thought you guys were talking about the free plays this morning.

Yes that is what floors me is the defenders stop and just let him survey and throw. Does anybody else get the continuation play that Rodgers gets. He is the best without that advantage.

It's unlikely Teddy could have been aware that the SD defender was lined up offsides, certainly not with any level of confidence.

We aren't the only team having trouble with deep balls!

QUOTE: People who rewatched last Sunday's 24-17 victory over the New York Jets, in which Bradford completed 14 for 28 for 118 yards, saw a quarterback standing in a clean pocket, usually, often facing receivers who seemed to be open deep - and then repeatedly throwing underneath. Often not really throwing very accurately underneath. Not getting the ball to outside receivers.

Bradford's response yesterday seemed to be that he is running the offense the way the coaches are calling it. He said he would like to go deep more, but at no point did he evidence a belief that he is the one keeping that from happening.

Great QBs see guys open deep, they hit them. They don't hide behind what the offensive gameplan is. Favre would have thrown deep if he had receiver open not underneath.

Bradford continues to get the Golden Boy treatment.

Keep your mouth shut Sam, and collect your game checks. You are a bigger bust than Ponder.

Chip has a little Brad Childress in him. He really thinks his system is more important than the players.

You nailed it bro!

Bradford has been in the NFL for 5 years and has sucked for 4 out of 5 years yet people still treat him like a franchise QB

It is painful

Stupid Chip

SL was probably going to cut him

If he can't throw deep on Washington's sorry secondary he really is Ponder II
