That Colts defense looks really bad - they even made the lowly Bears look competitive, with Hoyer racking up nearly 400 yds passing and Howard averaging over 7 yds per carry.

Big change in Baltimore: Ravens firing OC Marc Trestman, replacing him with Marty Mornhinweg, per league sources.

SoMnFan -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (10/10/2016 11:10:02 AM)

Why do people keep recycling old Detroit Lion employees?
Shouldn't that be the last stop before you are OUT of the league?

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (10/10/2016 11:43:21 AM)

Sadly we went through that phase with Bears WR's [:o]

Happens all the time in sports.

How many years has Jeff Fisher been coaching? Over 30? Yet he hasn't been fired by the Rams yet. What's he got wrt superbowls? One appearance and and a Music city miracle play to get there...

hasn't done squat since Eddie George and Steve McNair carried the offense.

You see it all the time. The Wild and Timberwolves hired guys that had coached other teams just this offseason.

JC2015 -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (10/10/2016 2:41:49 PM)

Only 7 teams are undefeated at home after just 4 weeks

Steelers
Texans
Chiefs
Eagles
Vikings
Packers
Seahawks

David Levine -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (10/10/2016 7:07:44 PM)

Per ESPN: Cam has taken 900 hits since entering the league. 298 more than Russell Wilson.

G SUS.

3rd and 1 from the 6 for Tampa.

False start.
Delay of game.
Timeout to avoid 2nd consecutive delay of game.
Bad misfire.
Doinked the FG.

David Levine -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (10/10/2016 8:26:04 PM)

And their 2nd round (!) rookie kicker is now 2/5 on the season (and 8/9 on PATs).

Now 3/7 on FGs for the year....

David Levine -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (10/10/2016 10:29:07 PM)

And the rookie hits the game winner.

The Panthers are a MESS

Lots of decimated teams in the league right now.
Injuries rampant.

That was some bad football last night.
Entertaining, but bad.

Tim Cady -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (10/11/2016 8:53:36 AM)

Cute how Tampa QB talked as if they took out New England and Tom Brady in the middle of a SB run![&:] Hey Winston! It was 47 year old Derek Anderson, 3 unforced errors, and a decimated front on defense. But hey you go Girl!

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (10/11/2016 9:32:01 AM)

Carolina had the appearance of a team on the precipice of imploding before the season began. they just had an air about them that they thought the league would just roll over for them and let them win nearly every game again. That whole division is a mess.

Tim Cady -> RE: Around the NFL (News) - 2013 Season (10/11/2016 9:56:20 AM)

[X(] Still steaming about the schedule makers and the national talking heads regarding the Green Bay Packers! Start out season against a team that can't win on this continent. They get their asses kicked by the new Daddy in the North in a game that was not nearly as close as the score. Barely hang on to beat a schizophrenic Detroit Lions team. Then beat a Giants team, who just really got screwed by the schedule makers, based on that run of games. On road Monday night against Vikings and then on road in Green Bay Sunday night against the well rested 4th (feels like the 14th best team to me) in power rankings Green Bay Packers. I picked Packers in my Survivor league just so I could use them before the collapse. The collapse is coming for the Green and Gold. To quote Carl G, of Barreiro fame, they are just Tewwrable..." I really hope in the picks section of Fridays Bumper to Bumper they point this out Carl, help him with his lack of grasp of reality.

Actually I am not as steaming as I am excited about the impending fall of the Packers. By Thanksgiving my new in laws will have some things to be quiet to...[;)]

I think they had it last year and Denver exposed it in the Super Bowl. Zimmer planned on exposing it in the NFC championship game. Just shows we get past Seattle, thanks AD for fumble at 50, that helped them get field goal. I know people want to hang it all on BW, but that point gets lost way too often.

Anyway I digress, past Seattle this team at full strength playoff time would have pounded Arizona and the exposed Cam. Then we would have wreaked havoc on Peyton Manning. That was our Super Bowl last year! This year would have been the repeat! With that said I think we are getting better each game and are better offensively with Sam Bradford and No AD. The only team that can beat the Vikings right now are the Vikings. Randy Moss thinks our only two challenges remaining are at Philly and at Green Bay. I think Dallas could be annoying to us.

Tim Laudner’s Football ranking: Through week 5

Back in 1987 when the Twins won the series, Tim Laudner was asked about football. He said football has the biggest home field advantage of any sport (debatable). Then he explained his own system for ranking football teams. You’re favored to win at home so no points for that, but -1 point if you lose at home. For away games, the home team is favored so you get 0 points if you lose an away game, but if if you win, you get 1 point. So, you only get a point if you win on the road and you only lose points if you lose at home.

If you win at home: 0
If you lose at home: -1
If you win on the road: 1
If you lose on the road: 0

So the best a team can rank for the regular season is 8 points - they won all their games.

At least, that's how I remember it. Its a goofy system, but fun to look at how teams rank using it. Here it is after 5 weeks.

NE: 1
BUF: 1
NYJ: -1
MIA: -1

PIT: 1
BAL: 0
CIN: 0
CLE: -2

HOU: 0
TEN: 0
IND: -1
JAX: -2

OAK: 2
DEN: 1
KC: 0
SD: -1

PHI: 1
DAL: 1
WAS: 0
NYG: 0

MIN: 2
GB: 1
DET: 0
CHI: -1

ATL: 2
TB: 0
NO: -1
CAR: -2

LA: 1

THIS is exactly how the local stud is SUPPOSED to roll.

PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles rookie quarterback Carson Wentz demonstrated his winning ways during the team's bye week.

Wentz, 23, was drafted out of North Dakota State and returned to Fargo during the Eagles' off week on Oct. 1, running up a $1,000 tab with a group of friends. He then picked up the tab and left a $500 tip.

According to CSN Philly, Wentz hosted a private party in a back room at Herd & Horns Bar and Grill last Saturday night after watching his alma mater beat Illinois State 31-10.

Wentz has surprised me so far. I have watched every NDSU game since Brock Jenson started and always thought he was better than Wentz, after all, he was the QB for 3 of those 5 championships. But Jenson didn't make it at Miami and is now 2nd or 3rd string in Canada. It is rare a Div II player makes it. But Wentz is a big boy and showing his brains as well as his arms and legs. I wish him well unless he's up against the Vikings.

For some reason, I've only watched one NDSU game this season and they still look good. Its possible they could win a 6th championship.
