That's what Portia De Rossi said.

Why are they reviewing this BSU goal? I saw nothing controversial.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (11/22/2013 8:44:32 PM)

I was just reading up on Lake Superior State because I remember watching them win the Nat'l Championship in 1994. They were in 3 consecutive Nat'l Championship games from '92 to '94, and won two of them? WOW! The WCHA is very fortunate to have them.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (11/22/2013 9:03:55 PM)

Fun fact:

Mike Greenlay (current Minnesota Wild commentator) was a member of the Lake Superior State Lakers 1988 NCAA Championship men's ice hockey team.

What the hell happened? Suddenly BSU is behind 3-2 with 14 minutes left. Something changed in a hurry and I missed it. [X(][X(][X(][X(][X(]

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (11/22/2013 9:54:29 PM)

Disturbing loss.

drew -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (11/23/2013 12:28:30 PM)

Same thing happened to me. I was watching most of the game and we were ahead 2-1, turn away for about 5 minutes and we're behind 3-2. And then we get 2 full minutes of 5 on 3 and can't score. Tough loss, gotta get those points at home. Better luck tonight I hope.

You ever been to a game at the Sanford Center Matt??

Nope. Drove through Bemidji a couple months ago for the first time in years. Made a point to find the Sanford Center and drove around the parking lot. Impressive building. Would love to go to a game there sometime. I assume you've been to a number of games, huh? Is there a restaurant in the building that's open before, during and after games? Otherwise I'd probably eat at Keith's Pizza before a game.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (11/23/2013 9:20:46 PM)

2-1 win for BSU. Nice split vs. a good team. But last night's loss was still a disappointment.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/2/2013 7:50:23 PM)

Not a bad showing for BSU against Miami. Tied the first one and lost the second (with our backup goalie making his first ever start). Having trouble getting a win in these non-conference games, but definitely playing them tough. Need a sweep at Michigan Tech next weekend to take control of 2nd place in the WCHA. Ferris State (8-0-2 in conference) almost has 1st place locked up already.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/6/2013 10:23:03 PM)

BSU was outshot 38-21 at Michigan Tech, so I guess we will take the tie and be happy. Oh well.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/6/2013 10:25:57 PM)

Why did BSU use its 3rd string goalie tonight? Is Walsh hurt?

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/6/2013 10:26:41 PM)

Walsh has not dressed the last 2 games. Wonder what's up?

drew -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/7/2013 3:20:46 PM)

I was wondering the same thing Matt. They usually ride him, so he must be hurt. Ties on the road aren't a bad thing at all.

Sorry I haven't replied to your post about Sanford. Yes, I've been to quite a few games, but none yet this year. No restaurant in the Sanford, but many very close to it. It's a pretty nice building considering the size of Bemidji, IMO.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/17/2013 9:55:02 AM)

Tough weekend for St. Cloud State and they lost their #1 ranking, slipping all the way to #4. Needed that win on Saturday to have any hope of holding onto #1, but after the drubbing on Friday, the #1 ranking was most likely gone no matter what.

Is Ferris State for real? They complete the first half of the WCHA season undefeated in the league. Their schedule hasn't been too tough. Is the #2 ranking warranted? It's hard to say. Pretty frustrating that Bemidji State had a chance to win one and maybe two at Ferris State earlier this season. No offense to the Beavers, but that makes me think Ferris State is a little over-ranked. But you can't argue with a perfect league record. They've done what they've had to do so far. We'll see if it continues.

BSU is hanging in there in 3rd place. It's probably the best they can hope for. There's a logjam in the middle of the WCHA...any of those 7 teams could easily finish in 3rd place or as low as 9th place. Ouch.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/17/2013 10:00:09 AM)

Any word on if Walsh was hurt, suspended or just in the doghouse?

I see he finally played again on Saturday, but did not play well.

A lot of ties for BSU lately. I wonder if those could have been wins if Walsh was in there and at the top of his game? I haven't been able to watch the alternative goalies. Anything there? Walsh is usually solid. Sucks to see the season middling away because he's been on the bench and/or somewhat streaky this season

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/17/2013 10:17:45 AM)

Based on numbers alone, Wilkins has outplayed Walsh. But the 0-0-3 record for Wilkins is a little frustrating. Wilkins hasn't given up a lot of goals, though, and his save % is extremely good.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/17/2013 2:05:27 PM)

So i'M hopeFul someone can shed some light on these college hockey questions I have.

SoMnFan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/17/2013 6:43:16 PM)

Looks to me like ....
Mr Serratore was not happy with Mr Walsh at the end of November.
I have no inside info but it appeared. to be a personality or behavior issue.
Mr Walsh wasn't just benched, he wasn't allowed to dress ( that's why I'm assuming there was an "issue")
Mr Wilkins got his big chance and shined for a weekend.
That's one way to get your coach to love you, when he makes a bold move and you come thru.
The shine has recently come off Mr Wilkins, but when he eventually went back to Mr Walsh, he dropped the ball as well (vs AK)
It happens. Coaches try to re-take authority in different ways. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes it works for a short time and then falls apart. [:D]

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/17/2013 7:08:47 PM)

Wow! And it was a public post! [:D] (not that anyone else is reading this thread anyway)

Thanks for the insight. Sounds about right. Not sure what they should do going forward.

See? You think you don't know anything about BSU hockey, but you do.

twinsfan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/17/2013 7:21:01 PM)

You missed one. What's your take on Ferris State?

Also, is St. Cloud State a legit contender for the National Championship?

SoMnFan -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/17/2013 7:48:53 PM)

Not to bail easily, but isn't everyone a contender?
ALL of the teams you mention can make noise all the way to the end.
The talent is so spread out, it's ridiculous.
Your well-known powers will all be tough, but only if their talent gels together.
That's why the Ferrises and RPIs of the world will always be able to scare the bejesus out of everyone.
It's a crapshoot. Fifteen pissed-off seniors and juniors on any DI team can pull together, believe in a system, and knock off anyone.
Especially if they believe in their goalie and he stands on his head.

Dave E -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/18/2013 4:17:23 PM)

Oh, I'm watching, Matt. I'm always watching.

[:-]

drew -> RE: Other college hockey (BSU, UND, SCSU, etc) (12/18/2013 8:20:46 PM)

Matt, I haven't heard or read anything about Walsh being injured so it makes me think it must have been something else. SMF probably nailed it, which is pretty impressive considering he said it much more clearly than I could have with me reading and looking for info on it. Brilliant hockey coaching mind!!

Wilkins did play really well in his 3 games, and Walsh got lit up like a Christmas tree on Saturday against Alaska. Good to have depth I guess, but I'd like to see Walsh take it over and get hot like he did at the end of last year against the U.
