I seriously don't understand the in the crease rules. #27 for UMD was definitely in the crease when he scored the last goal. But they reviewed it and it counted. Looked just like the infamous Brett Hull goal. Somebody please explain this rule to me. I will take the goal!

You can see why they were 1&2 one way or the other all season. This has been a great game for a championship game that's for sure.

?? I had the "right there" view on it.
Puck approaches the net, players move forward and attack the puck until it goes in or gets cleared.
Once the scoring opp is there, they aren't going to waive it off if you cant stay out of the blue
Forwards who get insode position are going to get shoved into the crease
You cant stop every play where that happens

I'll give Denver credit
They have become the sacrificing team lately
Gladly placing every body part in front of every shot

Good game. Perfect ending other than the loss. UMD put up one hell of a fight. A fight the Gophers never would have put up...sorry to say.

I'm not happy but I'm not mad. Great game, coulda gone either way, the better team (by a slim margin) probably won. Proud of our team. Any Minnesota team is a Minnesota team to me, even if the Twins Cities don't recognize it.

Appreciate it bud. Just ran out of game, had 'em on the ropes at the end.

Thankfully they have 2011 to fall back on. This one was slightly less painful than a certain Bowling Green game in 1984...

Crappy news. Lakeland TV is no longer going to be broadcasting BSU games. BSU squeezed them for more money, and Lakeland couldn't afford it.

What a bunch of idiots. Watch attendance decline next year. It will have the opposite effect of what those eggheads are thinking.

Bemidji State men’s hockey fans won’t be able to watch the Beavers on Lakeland Public Television next season.

Lakeland CEO Bill Sanford announced Wednesday that the station would not be televising BSU home games for the 2017-18 season.

“I think the issue...is BSU is squeezed for money and they’re trying to figure out how they can generate more revenue,” Sanford said. “They feel that our broadcasts might be impacting their gate revenue and so they were looking for a substantial rights fee payment from Lakeland, which we hadn’t had to do in the past.”

Lakeland had televised BSU home hockey games since the 2010-11 season. A press release issued by Lakeland said the station had several meetings with Dill and BSU President Faith Hensrud over the past few months. The release stated Dill recently wished to change the terms of the agreement to include a proposed rights fee payment.

“On behalf of BSU, I would like to thank Bill Sanford, Lakeland Public Television and the Lakeland Sports staff for producing high-quality BSU hockey broadcasts,” BSU athletic director Tracy Dill said in a release. “They have been the gold standard broadcast in the WCHA and have given us all something to be proud of.”

In addition to the cost of televising games, Sanford said Lakeland could not afford the rights fee the university was asking the station to pay.

“With the amount of revenue that we’re able to generate in rural Minnesota, we just weren’t able to come up with enough revenue to cover both the costs of doing the games, plus paying BSU a substantial fee for carriage of the games,” Sanford said.

Bemidji State previously partnered with Charter Communications to broadcast Beaver hockey games before Lakeland began televising games. Charter’s Bemidji cable system was acquired by Midcontinent Communications in 2008.

“They didn’t throw out a specific number,” Sanford said in regard to what BSU wanted Lakeland to pay in rights fees. Sanford said university officials thought the Charter deal was worth $50,000-$60,000 annually.

“That lasted a season or two and I think then Charter didn’t renew at that point either,” Sanford said. “But I think that’s the kind of number that they were looking for.”

Since Lakeland is a public television station, Sanford said it would have been difficult for the station to cover the costs of the rights fee in addition to production costs. Lakeland was “basically breaking even” broadcasting games, Sanford said.

“Maybe in a bigger market that kind of thing is possible, but for us as a public broadcaster, we can’t really do full advertising,” Sanford said. “We can do underwriting, which is a little different than advertising. So we were a little limited in the amount of revenue that we could generate with it and it wasn’t enough to do both -- cover the games and to make a big payment to BSU.”

BSU games were available to more than five million viewers across Minnesota, as well as parts of North Dakota and Wisconsin, because of agreements Lakeland had with other public TV stations.

Sanford, a BSU alum, said he is hopeful the university can generate more gate revenue.

“I just would like to make it clear that we’re certainly not upset with Bemidji State,” Sanford said. “We understand the reasoning for them doing this. They’re pressed for funding. They’re trying to run a top-notch program at a small school in a rural area and I know it’s challenging for them. I wish them the best going forward.”

Bemidji State also announced in a release Wednesday afternoon that the university will partner with its Department of Integrated Media to broadcast Beaver athletic events, including men’s hockey games. The department had previously broadcast home football and men’s and women’s basketball games and will now air home men’s and women’s hockey, baseball, softball and soccer games as well.

Students will work on game production, including camera work and directing. The department also intends to create additional Beaver athletics content for KBSU TV-17, the release said.

That means Beaver hockey games will continue to be available to stream online at WCHA.tv. Single-game and season-pass options will be available for WCHA contests while NSIC events for other sports will continue to be free. Prices for hockey games will be announced soon.

Fans will have the option to stream games on their computers, mobile devices or televisions through the use of a TV-connected streaming device -- including Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV -- through WCHA and NSIC apps that are in development.

“We are striving to meet our fans where they are,” Dill said in BSU’s release. “We are riding the wave of the future with our new streaming options. Through these services and apps, our students will be producing live, high-definition broadcasts of BSU athletic events and delivering them to anyone with an Internet connection or cell phone service.”

Dill couldn’t be reached for further comment.

The only connection I got with Beaver hockey was Lakeland
That sucks

SCSU with a nice 8-0 win against whatever Regina is. Is that a college or a minor league team? Could SCSU have a very explosive offense?
