The Ravens just bailed out Goodell and cut Rice.

They're culpable. Like they didn't know,either???

Agree. There had been reporting that they also had seen the video. And even if not...to support him so strongly, thinking it couldn't have looked that bad?!

Embarrassing for them.

Well, this is the same org that supported Ray Lewis after he carved up some guy in Atlanta and got away with it.

Dave E -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/8/2014 1:33:47 PM)

Good point, they do have a history.

Kinda started all this shit.
The original and ultimate "let's act like nothing happened" event.

@MasterStrib I get that the video is disgusting, but 20 domestic violence arrests in NFL since 2010. Issue is much bigger than Ray Rice.

Dave E -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/8/2014 1:43:24 PM)

...and now Goodell suspends him indefinitely.

He is just the worst.

Dave E -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/8/2014 1:46:24 PM)

I meant Goodell by that, but Rice is the worst too.

MDK -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/8/2014 1:51:28 PM)

I remember my school mate who was in golden gloves......he said that if he was fighting outside the ring, he would get suspended from participating in Golden Gloves.

The NFL truly is a joke in terms of its positions it takes.......they wouldn't owe up to the problem of concussions until it was finally forced upon them.

Now, they don't think beating the hell out of a girlfriend is serious until there is a public outcry and they worry about the PR fallout from this thing.

Maybe Tom Osborne is advising the NFL on how to deal with players that are woman beaters.

Just remember. Ray was never convicted [;)]

ESPN broadcaster Ray Lewis, in his first public statements on former teammate Ray Rice, said on Monday that his emotions were torn after news broke that the Ravens had released Rice and the NFL had suspended him indefinitely.

"I am disappointed; this is personal for me," Lewis said on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown. "So I’m torn. This is a guy, a young man I really took under my wing and tried to mentor and tried to make sure he had a successful career and stayed away from things like this.

Wow the story doesn't even mention Ray's non-issues [&o]

The idea of getting it right has been a stated goal of late in the NFL office, but the league deserves no kudos for this latest and belated development in the Rice case. The NFL and the Ravens both apparently investigated this situation like they wanted it to just go away, but it wouldn’t. Somehow we’re asked to believe that the league and the team couldn’t get their hands on that surveillance video -- a notion I’m not buying -- and took Rice at his word when he described some milder version of events that took place in that elevator.

Umm, Ray Lewis had some issues?
I have no recollection of that, sir.

Hope the Giants can pull the upset tonight.
I enjoy the Lions better when they're in disarray. [&:]

I'm amazed, actually. Kind of funny because my brother is in San Diego on business and he is out at a sports bar with my old friend from high school (he lives in Chula Vista). I have been getting texts from them. Pretty odd

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/9/2014 8:52:26 AM)

My favorite part of the coverage re the Vikings nice win .... Captain Munnerlyn said that many of the guys on defense felt good, but were extremely upset about the numbers of garbage yards they gave up late.
THAT, to me .... Is a winning attitude.
Red flags go up for me, when coaches, players, and even fans spend time defending let-downs, no matter what the score.
There should always be a personal responsibility to be the best you can be.
Teams allowed to make excuses or marginalized their effort .... Lose like 90 games a year.
The attitude starts at the top.

AP reporting that a law enforcement official sent the Rice elevator tape to an NFL executive five months ago.

How long can Goodell survive this?

Yesterday morning, Robert Kraft was on CBS this morning yacking it up with Charlie, Gail and Nora.

Today, Goodell was on in a taped interview.

Working very hard at damage control. Will it work???????

Goodell told “CBS This Morning” co-host Norah O’Donnell that “no one in the NFL, to my knowledge” had seen a new video of what happened on the elevator until it was posted online.

“We assumed that there was a video. We asked for video. But we were never granted that opportunity,” Goodell said.

He added: “We are particularly reliant on law enforcement. That’s the most reliable. It’s the most credible. And we don’t seek to get that information from sources that are not credible.”

MDK -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/10/2014 4:07:53 PM)

Maybe the NFL will fire their roving instructor for field maintenance.....similar to the Twins and their recent firing.

You mean, they weren't being honest?!? [:-]

Goodell is a scumbag, but he's nothing but a puppet for 32 other even-bigger scumbags.
