Clock / Time Out management was a head scratcher at times. Need to be more decisive on going for it or not. Glad we didn't end up needing the time outs.

Blanton sucks.

Walsh was clutch.

Agree on the QB sneak, bad call.

Hope Teddy can go Thursday.

Except on the FG he missed. I was so worried that between that and the 10 second roll-off that prevented us from taking another shot at the end zone were going to be the killers - but it was all good in the end. Yep - Walsh is good.

We seem to have the worst luck about stuff like this. It's our turn to have the good luck that comes with a healthy return to the field on Thursday (and the best day of an NFL quarterback since the league began).

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/28/2014 9:27:02 PM)

How dumb is a rule ... where ... if that TD review play had been on a play that was ended with less than 10 seconds left ... they'd have just walked off the field?
I remember that happening to someone a couple weeks ago.
Just an incredibly stupid rule that BETTER get changed, before it screws guess who ..... US

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/28/2014 9:40:04 PM)

Btw ... I realize most have Teddy in the HOF already[:D], but its worth noting ... that he hasn't thrown a TD pass yet.
CPatt has said he hopes it can be him, when it happens.
So, if we are all giddy as geese right now, just think what'll happen when he starts throwing some of those "TD pass" thingies. [&:]

djskillz -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/28/2014 9:41:18 PM)

It will probably not surprise you one bit Scott that I feel exactly the same way about TD's that I do about RBI's. [:D]

I'm actually serious. [8|]

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/28/2014 9:45:44 PM)

Oh no ..... the young crowd sees no need for THOSE, either? [sm=banghead.gif]

djskillz -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/28/2014 9:49:35 PM)

I do for the team. I just don't care too much who ends up "capping" a drive. I think that's for the fantasy football fan, to me. If Teddy throws for 4,000 yards and the TEAM scores a lot of TD's, fine by me. That's how I feel about RBI's/runs too. I care about them, a lot. They're EVERYTHING. I just don't care which individual on the team gets the shiny trophy at the end of it. It's honestly kind of like saves to me. What human decided those matter? To me I like looking at what correlates most with points. In football, that's usually yardage, turnovers, etc.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/29/2014 10:51:14 AM)

Sheesh, Souhan is already trying to get a new nickname for Bridgewater.

Why not just Teddy?

@SouhanStrib
Teddy 2 Gloves? We can do better. Best suggestions from readers: Teddy Big Time, Teddy Touchdown, Steady Teddy.

TJSweens -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/29/2014 10:53:08 AM)

Teddy Bridge to the Endzone.

djskillz -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/29/2014 10:54:41 AM)

Teddy Ice or Teddy Icewater are the best IMO.

And my favorite phrase is already "In Teddy We Trust"

Seriously, I've never felt so good about the Vikings' QB in my lifetime. Ever. Culpepper was very good for a short while but I just never felt all that comfortable with him because of his carelessness (NFCCG vs. Giants as a perfect example where he had to be betting money against us in that game). I always liked Brad Johnson, I always liked Moon/Randall, but they were temporary. I just feel so damn comfortable with Teddy already. It's a great feeling.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/29/2014 11:05:42 AM)

Personally, let him win a few more games before all these fun nicknames should start.

Hopefully he's not "Teddy dinged upalot".

The injuries/size are a concern, but we do have to remember that he is still just 21. Time to grow/gain weight for sure. His age makes this coolness and preparation that much more impressive. The anti-Manziel. And Ponder.

Berman would have said something more like Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

Anyway David, I am enjoying seeing the previously skeptical fawning over the guy you Todd, Karl and I were chanting for on draft night.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/29/2014 11:14:49 AM)

He would have had a TD if Wright had any whereabouts on him. He was literally running to the only spot he could get caught.

Once it happens to Manning, it'll get changed. They're all huddled up in NYC trying to figure out how they can get him his "last chance in OT" from 2 weeks ago. That was not meant to happen to him.

He also would have had another TD if he could have hit a wide open Wright down the sidelines. That was horrible.

That was slightly over thrown. It was not a horrible pass.

While I agree, I would like to see OT changed. The game should not be decided by a coin flip, and it still essentially can be. I'd like to see them go to more of a college route. Maybe start at the 50 instead? That at least gives each team equal chances.

He was open by 10 yards and a sure TD if the throw is anywhere near catchable. We apparently define horrible passes differently.

I like the new system. The game is only decided by a coin flip if you allow a TD.

And if you allow a TD, you deserve to lose.

I define it by the fact that no matter how far open the guy is, it's still a long way in the air. There is a reason passing % goes down as the passing range gets longer. Throwing it 5 yards short and getting it picked off would have been horrible.

djskillz -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/29/2014 11:28:37 AM)

Teams are set up differently though. So if you have a weak defense but a great offense you are going to lose when the coin flip doesn't go your way every time. I'd prefer both teams are guaranteed a chance with the ball. So at the very least a "you get a chance for a TD too" approach.
