That certainly won't help his foot speed.

ewen21 -> RE: Former Twins News (5/2/2016 8:12:56 PM)

And if you want speed you go get a speedy shortstop!

Not quite Denard Span look but Duensing looks pretty down, to be back in the minors.

streak ended today but going in to this afternoon's game:

Former Twins RHP Jeff Manship on for the Indians. His 23.2 consecutive scoreless inning streak right now is MLB's longest.

Unreal

Herrmann the hero for D-backs in extras
Arizona catcher Chris Herrmann smacked a go-ahead, two-run homer in the 11th inning of a 5-3 win over the Braves.

I believe that was his 2nd homer of the game too.

Some real key hits. And apparently hitting in AZ carries well too.

Herrman has 2 doubles/4HRs in 10 hits, all of .238 AVG, and a .273 OBP...but slugging .571
10 rbi's

So his warning track power plays well in games in AZ. I have complete and utter faith that Herrman will regress to the his mean.

But you couldn't stand Herrmann in MN either. Most of us couldn't.
Couldn't hit, couldn't throw anyone out.

I know Ed. But how could this Murphy guy be so bad this season? I don't understand this at all. He hit .267 in 262 AB over three seasons for the Yankees. How could he sink so low this season? That is like a golfer who shoots around 80 not being able to break 110. It doesn't even make any sense.

Is it possible that Murphy wants out of MN and has not even been trying?

TJSweens -> RE: Former Twins News (5/9/2016 10:41:55 AM)

Or could be an early season slump from a young player in a new environment?

Except that Murphy was hitting the same way during Spring training. Slumps don't last that long. He has not shown the ability to even hit a line drive.

TJSweens -> RE: Former Twins News (5/9/2016 10:54:09 AM)

Sure they can. Especially for a backup catcher who is only getting sporadic AB to try hit his way out. Getting a lot of AB at AAA will likely get him out of his funk.

I noticed that Murphy has only seven AB at AAA Rochester thus far (1-7) Hicks is still the main catcher there. I peaked at the stats for the Red Wings and it is as ugly as the Twins roster. Not one player hitting over .290. Vargas, Walker, Kepler and others all stinking it up. Buxton OK at .276 thus far.

Hicks is gone. Lost on waivers. Paulino and Murphy are now the catchers.

Oh yes, forgot about that one. So is Murphy getting regular AB at Rochester? He should be.

Source: Joe Nathan, age 41 beginning throwing program and is tentatively looking to be game-ready by 7/1. Still looking to make comeback.
