Since when is Dupont not Jeff Gordon's primary sponsor?

I know they had the crash 7 years ago that took ten lives. But wasn't there another Hendrick crash too? One that Rick Hendrick himself survived like back i the 90s or something?

Thankfully everyone was OK this time. All those little planes hopping around scare the crap out of me.

Rick wasn't in that one but his brother & son died in it. Not a year before that, Jack Raush was in a plane crash and survived like Rick just did.

Is there any possiblity Jimmie Johnson can win the championship?

I doubt it, as every time I tune in chase contenders are always in the Top 15. Not much movement can be made unless everyone in front of him in the standings crashes out.

I think he is to far back now. The streak ends this year

Plus I heard he won't get in a plane anymore. That will be a lot of long, unnecessary hours on the road. Bound to hurt him on raceday.

That was an awesome Nationwide series race! Congrats to Keselowski on the win....and to Stenhouse on the championship. Loved the ending with 3 cars battling it out for the race win. The 60 wins the owner's championship over the 18 by a few points.

Jim?  This is our thread, man.

twinsfan -> RE: NASCAR (10/12/2013 9:38:25 PM)

Jeff Gordon has 87 career wins. Will he get to 100?

Jimmie Johnson has 65. Will he get to 100?

Who would get there first? Gettin' pretty late in the game for Jeff Gordon. I see Ryan Newman has 17 wins in his entire career. So Jeff would need to almost duplicate in the next 10 years (and well past Jeff's prime) what Ryan Newman has taken 15 years to do in his prime.

Cars go round and round in circles to left.

Boy this is exciting!

Give him a break Scott. Every year or so he has to come in and sweep the cobwebs out of the NASCAR forum. It's in his rent agreement.

Dude, that's like your 30th negative post in this thread...representing almost 10% of the posts...I think people get by now you're not much into Nascar.

Being a fan of something should see that many posts in a thread. Sheesh.

Since they keep driving so late in life, I can see both getting 100

Jim, I really appreciate your input, but I just have to disagree with you on Gordon.  I like the guy...I really do...but I just don't see how he's going to get to #100 unless the other drivers start fixing races for him as he gets closer.

After the 2007 season Gordon had 81 career wins.  Now, at the end of the 2013 season, he has 87 wins.  He's averaging ONE win per season.  At this rate, he will need to run a full schedule for 13 more seasons to get to win #100.  And you can only expect his win rate to DECREASE as he gets older.  He's no longer the marquee guy that gets the most financing from his team - and his percentage of that share is just going to keep going down as he gets older and less "cool" to the younger fans and the marketing guys.  I'd be shocked if he gets to 100 wins.  I have to admit, though, I was surprised to see he's only 42 years old.  But man, his ability to win races has absolutely tanked  in the last 6-8 years.  He had one good season for wins back in 2007.  He'll never get back to that level.

I'd be more of a fan of racing if they did more than just drive around in circles and turn the same way every race.  when they have road races those are more interesting to me.  Why can't they do some races going the other way?

Why can't they shut off a couple of roads from here to Dallas and have them make that race?  (ok I get why this one is impractical).

but like Lewis Black says about running, when I'm done, I should be somewhere else.  Same thing here.  When they are done, after driving 500 miles or laps or whatever they drive...they shouldn't be in the same place.

Todd M -> RE: NASCAR (10/14/2013 1:48:18 PM)

I don't dislike NASCAR. Haven't watched a lot of it.

It's not entirely unlike you said...a little difficult to get up for seeing as it is the same thing over and over every event. Lap racing. Too much of the same thing every time.

You seem to have a passionate dislike of it. Not a good driver?

I could totally own racing but am too big.
