Has anyone heard good or bad about Levi Michael's ankle? It happened early May.

Probably will have it amputated by the Twins on crack medical staff for a hangnail.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/9/2015 6:35:36 PM)

Buxton a hit/walk and 2runs, 20th steal. Walker a 2 run HR, 16,now, 3rbi's(49) as Lookouts lead 4-2

LEN harps on batting average and k's

I could care less. He's hitting.264 with that kind of power. Almost as many HRs in the first half of the year as he had in the FSL

Power will play in the bigs. He'll hit plenty of mistakes out.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/9/2015 6:43:11 PM)

I don't worry about the average or the K's. Those won't change. But I do worry about the lack of walks. 15 walks with that power to 77 k's before tonight.

I just think he's going to need to walk more to stick in the majors.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/9/2015 6:50:57 PM)

Polanco with a couple of walks tonight already. .785 OPS for the 21 year old SS. Impressive as hell.

14th double of the year for Walker as well. As much power as just about anyone in the minors. And when you see him, it's never a surprise. Just a rock with his build.

4th triple of the year for Kepler. ATHLETE. OPS at .844 for that 22 year old. He really may pass all of our other corner OF options very soon for the right to play next to Buxton.

"Typical" Berrios today. Nice bounceback outing.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/10/2015 7:50:15 PM)

Goodrum called up to CHAT from FTM today (with an OPS of .671 and bad defense thus far at 3b this year) and isn't in the lineup. I figured the only reason might be for Sano (jammed finger) at 3b or for Polanco at SS. I've been one of his biggest fans on here, but it's a really perplexing move to me. 1) He hasn't deserved it. 2) Where will he play?

Maybe this is a fortelling of a coming Sano move? Because 3b is really Goodrum's position at this point, at least for now. He was a very horrific SS and too big for the position, so even in Polanco's up I don't see Goodrum as the answer there. And there's no room in the OF or 3b for him as presently constructed.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/10/2015 8:21:23 PM)

DannySanny playing a little angry tonight in AAA?

4 for 5 with a double.

Keep Polanco up for a couple weeks. If he succeeds, great. If he doesn't, he at least provided a little extra motivation for DS.

Buxton and Sano with 2 hits each and a double each tonight. The future of MN Twins baseball gets closer every day.

The walks and steals from Kepler are really encouraging. Becoming a really nice all-around player. Has flown up the prospect board IMO. Might have the highest ceiling of any of our OF'ers not named Buxton at this point.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/11/2015 1:09:53 PM)

Josmil Pinto’s prolonged slump at Triple-A Rochester could be viewed in a different light after his latest setback.

The power-hitting catcher from Venezuela will be placed on the seven-day disabled list with concussion-like symptoms.

Hitting just .102 (5 for 49) over his past 14 games since May 22, Pinto also was charged with a pair of throwing errors in the same game on Tuesday. That gave Pinto a team-high six errors this season.

Pinto, who has spent chunks of the past two seasons with the Twins’ big-league roster, was the apparent frontrunner to open the year as Kurt Suzuki’s backup until suffering concussion-like symptoms in the wake of a March 21 incident against the Baltimore Orioles. Center fielder Adam Jones struck Pinto on the helmet three times on the follow-through of his swing .

Pinto, 26, is hitting just .232 on the year with a .306 on-base percentage and .379 slugging percentage in 48 games. He was sharing catching duties at Rochester with Eric Fryer, who replaced him on the big-league roster last June when Pinto was sent back to the Red Wings to work on his defense.

Wednesday night at Class A Cedar Rapids, infielder Blake Schmit was removed from the game and taken to the hospital after experiencing concussion-like symptoms. Schmit was hit in the head with a 95-mph fastball by Great Lakes pitcher Karch Kowalczyk in the eighth inning.

“He’s going to be pretty swollen. He’s going to look like a boxer for awhile,” Kernels manager Jake Mauer told Metro Sports Report. “That was pretty scary. All things being said, it was pretty lucky that’s all it was. It happened pretty quick.”

A 26th-round pick in 2014 out of the University of Maryland, Schmit had a .355 on-base percentage in 18 games.

The Eden Prairie native is a 2010 graduate of Eden Prairie High School.

Oh boy...we have been bit by the concussion syndrome.

I will always like the Wolves, but I'm as loyal as they come. I'll be a Laker fan until the day I die. Same for Twins/Vikings/Duke.

I was wondering about Gordon. Is Polanco our SS of the Future or is it Gordon? Has Gordon been sucking so far?

Are you hoping for the Wolves to pass on Towns so the Lakers can get him or are you fine with Russell or Okafor?

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/11/2015 1:34:22 PM)

Gordon will be fine. He's still really young. Truth be told it's too early. Polanco has issues defensively at SS (he's really more of a 2b) but can really hit. And he's probably months away from the majors. Many of us would like to see him in the majors now.

Gordon, on the other hand, has a lot of talent (probably will never be the hitter that Polanco is) and should be able to stick at SS fine. Definitely an athlete. But he's also years away. 3-4 years likely. So at the very least Polanco is hopefully our stopgap.
