Turner is probably the best defender behind the plate right now in the Twins organization. If he could be a consistent 250+ hitter, he would be with the big league club. Unfortunately, his bat lags his defensive skill development.

Wonder if his diabetes affected him early in the season.....he has Type I diabetes. Maybe his insulin dosage was screwed up.

Had to chuckle last night, when Dick unveiled the latest sheople-based excuse for the Berrios decision.
They now have settled on ..
A) they had to choose between Duffey and Berrios, couldn't be both, and
B) it came down to holding runners on.

Ok, now I understand.

Wow, what BS they tell him to throw out there.

They totally screwed this up. He should have been brought up for the start that May got. Then put him in the pen to keep his innings under control. Having Berrios out of the pen would have been great for this team.

If this is really about handling this kid to preserve his arm, I can accept but the holding runners on.......no one will believe that.

The other reason might be service time but they already screwed themselves in dealing with Santana.....no way would Santana sign with the Twins as FA loomed given his delay to get into the rotation.

Agreed.

Now there is already speculation that Duffey will move tothe pen when Hughes is ready.

Crazy. Yes,hes' about 30 innings over last year.

BUT

Do you keep running Pelfrey out there? Insane

MDK -> RE: Players and prospects III (9/8/2015 10:53:17 AM)

Maybe Molitor is 100 % behind these pitching moves......I just don't believe that.

This has TR's cold, nearly dead hand fingerprints all over these decisions.

And it must drive Molitor nuts.

guy from Baseball Prospectus, on A ball Cedar Rapids

Nick Gordon was the position player I was impressed with the most. Raw player but with some pretty serious upside. He can stick at SS too.

He's just, as always thinking about the future at the expense of the present.

Always looking ahead and not paying attention to where he is.

Dougie will probably go work for Gardy in Detroit, if that happens.

So that makes the heir apparent.

They're going to have to do something w/Dougie. No doubt he'll be sought after. Gardy would probably want him to relate to the younger players, since he's so out of touch.

Twins will not figure out how to keep him. Just not that smart.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - Cedar Rapids completed the Midwest League Western Division Championship Series sweep over the Peoria Chiefs with a 5-4 come from behind victory on Sunday afternoon. Cedar Rapids advances to the Midwest League Championship Series for the first time since 1994, when they won their last Midwest League Championship by defeating Rockford (3-1) in a best of five series.

Peoria held a 4-1 lead after three innings of play. However, the Kernels clawed their way back and eventually took a 5-4 lead in the seventh inning.

Trailing 4-3 entering the seventh inning, Nick Gordon led off the frame with a single down the left field line. Edgar Corcino advanced Gordon to second with a sacrifice bunt. Gordon then swiped third base, his first stolen base of the postseason. After T.J. White walked, a Steve Bean passed ball brought in Gordon from third to tie the game 4-4. The passed ball also allowed White to move in to second. Two batters later, Chris Paul gave the Kernels a 5-4 lead with a go-ahead, two-out RBI single to left that scored White.

4-0 in the postseason

Gordon 3-5/R/RBi/SB, Corcino 2-3/double/R,Diemer 2-4/double/2RBI,Paul 2-4/double/R/RBi, Wade 1-4/double/rbi
