outfielder Reynaldo Rodriguez, an All-Star at Triple-A last year, has been suspended 80 games following a positive test under baseball's minor league drug program.

The commissioner's office said Thursday he positive for metabolites of Stanozolol.



A 29-year-old originally signed by the Yankees, Rodriguez has played 11 minor league seasons without reaching the major leagues. He is hitting .234 with one homer and three RBIs in 17 games this season from Triple-A Rochester of the International League.

He batted .255 with 16 homers and 80 RBIs last year, when he played primarily at first base and was a postseason All-Star.

Rodriugez appeared in 12 big league exhibition games for the Twins this year, going 3 for 12 with a double, triple, four walks and four runs scored.

There have been 37 suspensions this year under the minor league program.

The no strikeouts is as important as anything for Buxton. Put the damn ball into play somewhere and run.

I've seen Venditte pitch a few years ago in NBritain when he was in the Yankees system. They had to write a new rule in the official rulebook to limit what he could do; I saw him pitch against a switch-hitter (Y.Solarte) who was able to out-trick him.

Reynaldo Rodriguez was in RedSox and Yankees system earlier. Was in NBritain maybe 3 years ago; good HR hitter but never hit much for average.
