Considering that bookends hold in place the things of value called books but have no real value in themselves, a nickname of bookend seem appropriate for Mauer. He is a bookend. Not a book. He is never in the middle of anything good. Always on the periphery.

Anything happening in Dougie Alphabets world? Been vewwwwwwy quiet down there. Are we hiding him? is he angry? Waiting in the weeds? Will be interesting to see how that situation progresses.

13-8 in the second half, leaders in their division 7 over for the year Lost Palka, just keep winning. Add some pitching, lose some pitching. Have a feeling he'll force the issue if necessary this off-season.

Had to laugh at Hick's stare into the Twin's dugout after his HR. He sure showed us! As bad as Murphy has been, it was still a good trade.

There were a handful of calls saying WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH HICKS? A lot of complaints about Girardi sticking with him too long.

He'd be the 4th, maybe 5th best outfielder on this team. Didn't need him here blocking youngsters. Heck, if we still had Hicks, Kepler might still be in AAA. I still have hope for Murphy too.

Murphy is a major disappointment, but for anyone to lament the loss of Hicks anymore is way off base. I never liked Hicks and I am GLAD he isn't in a Twins uniform anymore. He was one of those guys who just didn't get it on so many levels. He just didn't have a major league bat or a major league head. He's going to turn 27 in October and the Yankees are finding out what we already knew. He's minor league livestock, imo.
