Garver hit .329 in 76 at bats,

With JR finally getting the bulb to turn on in Rochester and his brief yet decent performance at the MLB level and Garver continued improvement, catching seems to be a lot more stable for the Twins than earlier this spring when the Murphy trade appeared to be a bust. Centeno has been fine as well. He has 154 at bats, roughly on fourth of a season for a regular position player (a half a season if you platoon catchers) and has a .253 / .294 / .364 / .658..........not great but definitely better than Butera when he was a love child of Gardy with the Twins. And Centeno has 20 rbi's as well.

Keep working on the D>
Centeno doesn't block the best, but I'm ok with what production he's brought.

I was praising JR for his framing and attitude last night, not his execution.
LOTS of lost balls in his feet.
Work to do, but he's not a complete buffoon, like it had looked earlier.

It looks like Murphy's frame is too small to hold up as an everyday catcher. I think he'll always be a backup.

Yup. I see similarities.

Very confused how Butera is hitting so well this year, even if he's only playing in the most ideal of situations. He just never showed any ability with the bat in the past. I noticed his SLG of .505 in 2016 is normally his OPS.

SoMnFan -> RE: Players and prospects III (9/8/2016 10:45:28 AM)

They're clones.

SoMnFan -> RE: Players and prospects III (9/8/2016 10:46:40 AM)

Anyone see Suzukis PH numbers last night?
[:-][:-][:-]
Guy is a PH machine.
Been right "on it" for awhile now, too. Almost always solid contact, when he's not worn out.

He's the same height as Honda but weighs more.

That's a lie.

I see 5'11" and 205 lbs for both JR and Honda.

Murphy looks like he's 175 dripping wet. Suzuki's weight at 205 looks more accurate.

JR honestly looked like someone's little brother had been asked to play last night.
Butera looks "grizzled" comparatively.
No way he's packing more than 175 right now, I agree with Matt.
Suzukis a much more solidly built humanoid.

MDK -> RE: Players and prospects III (9/8/2016 12:43:47 PM)

We certainly know that size, especially at the catcher's position, equates to hitting power.

Mauer is our prime example.....6'5" frame of muscle and prodigious power to all fields.

Remember when Hunter said, watch out when he gets his man muscles......wonder why he never got those.

With a name like Luis Arraez, he better not be a Catcher.
If he is let's ship him off to DC.

2nd baseman, youngest MWL batting champ since...............

Mike Trout

Not "highly" regarded prospect. 5/10, 155lbs, 19 year old, hit a little over .300 in GCL last year

31 walks/51 strikeouts in 475 at bats.

only 3 dingers, had 31 doubles and 3 triples.

Bert and I decided Polanco is not a 2B anymore. Hopefully Molitor listens. [:D]

Did Costco have a "buy one second baseman, get 17 free" deal going on at one winter meeting that TR attended?
Or was that a Dominos-sponsored promo that Billy Smith fell for?

Dead serious ... could tell he was affected by your discussion.
He was working the crowd all night ... "NICE play by Polanco, he looks good over there, starting to settle in ..." [:D]

I swear the DSL kids they're developing are all trained to start at SS and move to 2nd.
