Hey if it wasn't for the 5R, 6H, 2HR in 4.2 innings, those 8K would look pretty impressive.

McMurfy -> RE: Players and prospects III (4/11/2018 10:47:04 AM)

Hunter Greene had scouts, prospect wonks, and Reds fans from every possible corner of the universe in Dayton for his 2018 debut, and while he was never in-line to pitch deep into the game due to year-long innings restrictions, the 18 year old phenom flashed an incredibly impressive repertoire.

His first three pitches each hit 100 mph, as The Enquirer’s John Fay relayed, and while he eventually allowed a pair of runs, the dominant stuff was every bit as advertised.

Greene’s final line: 3.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 8 K on 53 pitches, meaning 8 of the 9 outs Greene recorded were strikeouts. Giggity.

McMurfy -> RE: Players and prospects III (4/11/2018 10:48:42 AM)

Brendan McKay is 7-for-13 with a 2:7 K:BB through four games for Low-A Bowling Green. He also tossed two perfect innings with four strikeouts in his lone start for the Hot Rods.
Only one of his seven hits went for extra bases (a double), but it already looks like he is too advanced for other Midwest League players on both sides of the ball. As expected, the Rays are continuing to develop him as a two-way player, although he may eventually drop pitching in favor of being a full-time first baseman, as that seems to be Tampa Bay's preference. Unfortunately, he may not move as quickly through the minors as he would in other organizations, as the Rays are notorious for their slow-and-low approach to developing minor-league talent.

Sounds familiar

The bad drafts have REALLY come home to roost for the Twins

This is pretty close to the every day lineup at Roch

Rochester Red Wings

Zack Granite CF
Leonardo Reginatto 2B
Jake Cave RF
Kennys Vargas 1B
Brock Stassi DH
Jermaine Curtis 3B
James Ramsey LF
Bobby Wilson C
Gregorio Petit SS

Not much to root for helping the big club.

Romero and a couple others the only ones worth caring about.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (4/11/2018 2:33:24 PM)

Going to be a long year at AAA. Might as well just promote the AA hitters when you need them, and hope the stench doesn't ruin some of the pitchers

Twins called up Busenitz. Did they send Hindenburg down?
I see we sent Lamarre down earlier.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (4/15/2018 1:17:52 PM)

Aaron Slegers need just under 70 pitches to work 6 scoreless for ROC on Saturday, while Bert Mejia followed with 2-plus innings on a whopping 59 pitches (35 strikes). 4 Ks, 2 BB.

They had hedged their bets on Mejia starting Friday before the bad weather rolled in. So now they don't need a 5th starter until some time next week, so Busenitz comes up to help the mismanaged bullpen.
