Moss.

He's the most exciting WR to ever play the game. There's so many memories just off the top of my head that were flat out absolutely amazing.

I loved how the haters always said he never gave effort (I'll play when I wanna play), had alligator arms, was a thug. So much jealousy and envy towards a dude that was just better then everyone else.

He made Todd Bouman Gus Frerotte look legit.

I met him walking into the dome before a game and he shook my hand and said and I quote "sorry homeboy, no autographs on game days, I'm about to go put on a show in there".

I'm still not over the day he was traded by the used car salesman. And I still don't forgive you "fans" (you know who you are) that were glad to have him off your team because they wanted to listen to the idiot talking heads like Merrill Hoge.

Yup. Moss without question.

And not just because he was a freak talent.

I liked his personality. His back story. The way he gave balls to handicapped kids after scoring. His heart. His work ethic (mainly talking off season prep)

Didn't have a problem with squirting the ref, or Moon over Lambeau. Straight Cash Homey. He told it like it is...

The Superfreak. Damn straight.

Back in the day, Moss and Wasswa Serwanga used to show up at basketball courts in Eden Prairie, where mostly Somali's played. Eden Lake and Nesbitt. No media, no staged act of any kind. They just stopped by to play a little ball with the kids. They did it often. Turned a lot of soccer fans into football fans.

Moss is global.

I have to say Ahmad Rashad on offense and Scott Studwell on defense. Only because they were my favorite in the era when I was young. Age 7 to 13. Have liked many players since but they were the originals.

I think it might be cheating for me to say Page, as I wasn't watching football when he was playing, so my favor is based on personal interactions with him.

What, did he get you off Death Row?

Ha! I may be bad, but not that kind of bad.

No, I just lived in the same neighborhood for years, and saw him around a lot. I'd ask him about law stuff, and he was always happy to talk about it. Just a kind person who would take the time.

My personal favorite sighting was when my wife and I were trying cakes at a bakery near our apartment, he came in to get come pastries. As he leaves, I notice him, and watch him walk out and climb into ... a Mini Cooper. I found that to be a hysterical sight.

He could rack up the penalties, but he'd still likely be an upgrade to our line...

This is my response as well. Second place isn't even close.

Moss for me, too. Besides being the highest tier as a player, he was always interesting. Not always in a good way--kind of an anti-hero. The 30-for-30 on him was illuminating. I can't believe the raw deals he got growing up: 30 days incarceration for being accomplice in a fight, and another 60 for testing positive for weed! No wonder he was so prickly at times.

We're on page 3 and nobody's mentioned AD yet...

Bad Bradger should easily be at the top

McNabb was way worse than the other qb's listed.

Hell both Farve and Cunningham damned near got us to the SB

McNabb only played about 5 games here. His impact on the Vikings was minimal.

Can't imagine why anyone would put Cunningham on a hated list.

He played his butt off here. Torched his arm in the process.

I still think, if DG had recognized the fact that RC's arm was done in the middle of the 3rd quarter (ATL)... and put in dink/dunk Brad for a couple of possessions - we would have won that game handily. Brad was exactly the guy you'd want to chew up the clock on long, slow drives and get you points on most of them. Dude was Steady Eddie if ever I've seen one.

Same with Farve. He took an absolute beating in the bounty gate game.

Absolutely. I've always agreed with you on that.

Who starts in the SB in that scenario?

I was unaware there was a game limit

there is no game limit. the Vikings were going to suck that year. McNabb simply didn't impact the franchise in any significant way.

I'm sure most every one on these lists played their butts off and/or took a beating here and there. In 2010 Favre was probably as bad as McNabb was in his short stint here.

Lots of great names on the list. Moss, Page and Tarkenton are the most polarizing and all were pioneers at their positions.

My favorite today after reading this http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/04/health/fred-mcneill-cte-football-player/index.html article... Fred McNeil RIP.

Great LB on a great defense.

I love watching athletic defenders that can wreak havoc on opposing QBs. If I was a little bit older, I would likely pick Alan Page. By the time I started following the team (around 1974/1975) I only got to see him in purple for a few years, and I was probably still too young to really appreciate his play.

Instead, I would say it's a player I enjoyed watching for his entire Viking career: John Randle.

I loved watching his aggressive play, getting QB sacks and lots of forced fumbles. Page had more sacks, but after watching replays of Randle and Page, Randle seems to have been more explosive on his hits and tackles, and his technique seemed better at causing fumbles too. Randle was also quite a character and I'll never forget the way he wore his eye black like warpaint to try to intimidate opposing offenses. I also loved the Nike commercial he was in too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Gc5psrFIQA. Still hard to believe that he went undrafted.

Randle would be my 2nd - if it were a thread asking for top 1 and 2, or top O and D...

I have this memory, a bit foggy, might have been a Monday nighter against the Pack. They showed Randle on the bench with his coach and they were looking at a photograph of a play and it was essentially him against the entire offensive front...with Madden super imposing his thoughts over it like - guys, I'm doing all I can - where's the help!
