Too many short outings in a row.

Our pen is just not good right now. And Berrios didn't help.

But Sano also can't escape blame in this one. Not just the K after they intentionally walked Joe to load the bases for him, but those 2 runs he cost us in the 8th with the brainfart were HUGE.

This one hurts. Battle back tomorrow.

Try Duffy as closer. 86MPH right down the middle won't cut it.

Move Sano down to 6th spot until he at least tries to go the other way and not try to pull sliders that are a foot outside.

Just saw the final. You have got to be kidding me. 7th in a row should have been in the bag

Loss is mostly on Berrios. He's been horrible of late.
Every guy in the lineup except Polanco had at least 2 hits.
Dozier, Mauer, Buxton, Kepler and Rosario remain very hot.
Need Sano to drive in some runs, left 6 on base tonight.

Exactly what I saw.
Horrible start
Great comeback
Horrible finish
Left too many chances unused.
Belisle was due to give up something at some point.
Upton gets one in his ear today if I have any say.

My exact words after we left the bases loaded in the 9th with a 11-10 lead was: "I think we are in trouble"

You just knew things were setting up in their favor. Our starting pitching was rightly cited as being the goat for last night. Berrios had nothing and it cost us dearly. We were into the pen enough the last couple of nights and even with all the run support he gave it back. Could not make it through the fourth inning.

I was ripping Joe earlier in the day and he ended up having one of his biggest games ever. Driving in five runs in a game is an accomplishment. Yeah, runners "happen to be on base" but you have to actually DO IT and he did. More of those kinds of games from Joe Mauer would benefit the Minnesota Twins enormously at this point. Anyone who thinks otherwise is off their rocker. I will continue to say that both he and Buxton have underachieved offensively this year. Look at their numbers and there is no way around it. Molitor had them earmarked for 3 and 4 in the lineup. I don't think anyone here thought that made any sense (except for Matt with Mauer's spot), but it does indicate how highly regarded both players are by management and a large portion of the fanbase. Every single game there is an ongoing conversation about Buxton's defense. It is great that he is an acrobat out there, but without the bat he is only half a player to me. I am not inclined to praise his defense because of that. I leave that to Steve O, Dustin, SMF and Matt. They have that market cornered, Any more and it would be almost intolerable. If I got started in that this board would be unreadable
Someone needs to reflect on his offensive performance. Kerry does it, so does Mark and so does Ed. I have taken a few Sundays this year to write a paragraph or so on it. We need balance. Good to see him hitting more. If and when he gets to a level where his offense is not a liability then I can truly appreciate him..

I know exactly what a post like this leads to. I will now be rigidly labeled a detractor for my commentary on his lack of offensive production (even though it is true). I will be told to be patient, but really...I have been. Simply talking about things that aren't all that great is what it is. And now when Buxton does good things I will be skewered for it. It is the way things work here and I am OK with that. I also know that when I call out guys on their flaws often times they respond for some odd reason.

So Joe. Stop being a little bitch. Put the big boy pants on and pretend you are a man. The wholesome momma's boy "I'm so humble" routine is cute. Keep doing it if that's your thing, but when you step into the box ACT LIKE A MAN!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nqcgUDoV_M

And Buxton. It is nice that you run around like a Thomspson's Gazelle, but this is baseball. Track shoes are not required, but they are nice to have. What is required is something called A BAT. Hit the damn ball!! Drive in runs. And YES....use your head. This is the major leagues. It ain't a sandlot game. Bring the energy and all that but bring some smarts as well. That is what will get you to the next level as a hitter.

I turned away also. Was there something in his celebration?
I watched the highlight and didn't see anything over the top.

Throw one at his head, though.
Sometimes a pitch gets away. Oh well

Its modern baseball.
I get it, they're gonna stand there and admire it.
Doesn't mean I have to like it.
Looked to me like Escobar and Sano felt the same way I did. Both didn't leave the dugout for awhile, both watched him all the way around the bases, and both watched the whole celebration unfold.
Yep, big hit, give the guy his due. But then accept it when you get laughed at for going o for your next ten.

Really need Erv today.
Settle this young club down.
A hard loss to take, but if Erv pitches a dandy today, it'll be over and done with.
Just can't let it spin you into a downward spiral.
Lots of good things last night, overshadowed by one big bad one.

I agree with you but watch Rosario. A lot of strutting and stuff that should alienate the other team.

Upton has owned MN pitching this year. Time to make him uncomfy in the box.

Hopefully washed the stench of that one off.

Agree on Upton.

Still think that botched DP by Sano was just as huge as the K with bases loaded. They can't call it an error because it's a DP ball, but it's an error... Totally different game if it's 11-8 in the 9th instead of 11-10.

Oh well, get 'em today and get back on the horse.

Berrios really puts us in a hole quite often. 5 run innings are ridiculous.

Do you still want him starting the wild card playoff game Matt?

Gimenez is a throw-away now. Great clubhouse guy blah, blah, blah

but at some point the bat has to help again. Why he's hitting sixth? look at the rest.

Hope Erv has it today.

The one real head scratcher to me.
6th?
Whaaaaaa?
Its ok giving him as few at-bats as possible, Paul.
Giminez has reverted to exactly what he is. No bat, some catch, good bench guy.

Dozier at .256/.800/22 HRs
Would be an awesome 6, 7, or 8 guy in the kind of lineup we need to be.
