With a hole in my boat during the middle of summer and a lot of sketchy weekend weather, it's been a very slow year on the lakes. Haven't heard many positive fishing reports from others either. I did catch some perch and lucked into a walleye off docks in Willmar. Not sure where the pike are this year. However, late September always seems to bring my best fishing of they season. We'll see what happens.

Had a nice flat bottom 14 footer on our pond I used to fish in a couple times a week back in the day.
Went out one day and it had lost a couple rivets under the seat, was leaking like a sieve
Was chewing gum. Took the boat out of the water, stuffed the rivets with the gum, and it held for YEARS.
Laughed silently every time I looked at it from then on.
Just sayin, Matt.

I miss fishing on the lakes up there. Growing up in Mankato, I didn't realize how lucky I was to have such a variety of good sport-fishing lakes (Washington, Madison, Ballantyne, Duck, Jefferson, Francis, German, etc) within a short distance to the east of town. I have fond memories of fishing on most of those each summer in my dad's 14' boat. I don't have a boat now, so I just shore fish, and the little ponds around Cedar Rapids just don't compare. So far this year, I've only caught a handful of small bluegills, crappies and largemouth bass, none of them large enough to keep. However, the fishing near the river dams is supposed to be good, especially if you like going for channel cats or flatheads.
