Wow.

KG just said on live TV that "Glen Taylor doesn't know shit about basketball".

As the kids say on the twitter, I don't see no lie here.

Its just a shame that KG won't have anything to do with us until Taylor sells the team. We can't even retire his number.

How could they have that ceremony for Flip last year and not even invite KG?

I would imagine there are 29 teams that are already trying to formulate potential plans about how they can acquire KAT next offseason.

Glen needs to stop kissing the ass of a guy who absolutely wants nothing to do with Minnesota and start thinking about the young kid they need to be building around.

This.

KG was supposed to be a minority owner with options to buy the franchise and that went south and KG will never forgive Taylor for that. In addition he is going thru a divorce.

Good NBA schedule tonight. I'll be less tempted to watch the Wolves, even though they should have a legitimate shot at winning in San Antonio, especially with Mills and Forbes manning the PG position.

This is where my pessimism takes me right now. We are destined to wind up with Thibs and Butler, while Towns gets traded and wins an MVP.

I came to the realization early last season that Towns would not play much of his career here as long as Thibodeau was the HC. Signing that contract only delayed the inevitable.

This organization, mostly Thibodeau and Taylor, exhausts me.

I wish we woulda made that trade with the Sixers. Hopefully it's still an option, but I doubt it. Teams don't wanna rethink their strategy once the regular season begins. It's not like baseball or hockey.

What trade with the sixers. Only one I heard being offered was Butler for Simmons.

Butler for Covington, Smith, Saric and a 1st round pick.

The Sixers are so close to being the best team in the Eastern Conference. So, so close. They know they're one star away, which is why they went after Kawhi Leonard in the offseason. Butler is a similar player who can actually be acquired at the price they want. Covington and particularly Saric are solid players that could help keep the Timberwolves afloat for the next few seasons, and the addition of Zhaire Smith gives them another building block for the future.

This is really what it boils down to. The whole Butler thing is a sidetrack, a diversion, compared to the most important priority which is buiding around Towns.

It wasn't quite that. KG, even before he had millions stolen from him, never had anywhere near the wealth to be a majority owner.

The entire plan was Flip wanted to find a group to buy the team from Taylor and Saunders and KG were both going to be (very) minority owners. And with Flip being in charge of the organization (which was always going to be a tough sell, since no one wants to buy an NBA team and not be the man to run it - billionaire ego and all).

When Flip died, obviously so did that plan. KG somehow thought Glen should still honor it - even though Glen had nothing to do with it.

Most stars that leave the Wolves aren't very fond of Glen because of the way that he throws everyone that leaves under the bus and passive-aggressively takes shots at them for years.

If that deal was ever offered no way we would have turned it down. I would do RoCo and Saric with no need for Smith or an FRP.

I love how you keep adding pieces to it.

By the trade deadline I expect Simmons and/or Embiid to be throw-ins.

The current situation at 600 First Avenue is the most insane set of circumstances in franchise history. It’s like a perfect storm of every ridiculous thing that this stupid team has ever done. It has the player-forcing-his-way-out drama of the Starbury disaster. It has the stupid owner meddling of the Joe Smith fiasco. It has the horrible front office maneuverings matching the very worst decisions of Trader Jack, McHale, or Kahn. It has the destruction of the first productive years of a 7 foot generational talent. It’s like the entire quarter century of Wolves basketball has been collapsed into a single, distilled glass of straight Wolves booze. And that all of this drama is worth, at best, a first round playoff exit…well, It’s…beautiful.

If this year’s glass is half full the team starts well and wins 60% of the games in its first month. It will then devolve into a debate about whether or not Butler should be traded. Can you trade him away from a team performing in the top half of its conference? Who knows? The team doesn’t seem to have game planned any of this out so we’re running in uncharted waters. If they do trade him in December they will then have to incorporate new teammates and…again, who knows?

If they don’t perform well with Butler still on the roster will the drama increase? Will there be an on-court incident between him and KAT? Will they finally tell him to stay away from the locker room until a trade can be made? How long will Taylor stick with Thibs if the ship starts to sink? Oh, Jon K mentioned on his newest podcast that Layden can’t do the GM job on his own….soooooooo…will he axe the GM as well? The Wolves certainly lead the league in the number of dead men walking, which has to be very inspiring for everyone involved. (My guess is that Taylor is hoping to fire both of them on the last day of the season.)

Even if the best case scenario (Jimmy stays the entire year and doesn’t rock the boat and they make the playoffs as the 4 seed) happens does anybody believe Butler and Taj will be back at the start of next season? Will KAT still demand a trade after playing one more year under a coach he hates and alongside a player he despises? Will a single playoff series be worth burning yet another year of KAT’s development before bringing in a new coach, new GM, and 2 new starters?

This franchise will never cease to amaze me in their talent of being the best at being worst.

82-0.

A couple of things that are mildly encouraging.

1. Taylor gave Thibs that "vote of confidence" that David was hoping for.

2. Taylor says Thibs will focus on coaching while Layden tries to make a deal.

Scout’s take: “There’s such a disconnect between the owner (Glen Taylor) and Thibs (president of basketball operations and head coach Tom Thibodeau) right now that it’s definitely going to effect the product on the court. And this whole Jimmy thing has to effect their preparation, their team chemistry. The situation with him and Karl and Andrew Wiggins is not good. I don’t know why you even put him on the court right now. Not only that, but I saw them play in the preseason without Jimmy and they were a mess. …With this situation swirling around the team, boy it doesn’t look good.”

Does this sound like a guy even remotely interested in moving Butler, or doing what Taylor asks?

----------------------

SAN ANTONIO — Throughout this entire Jimmy Butler saga in Minnesota, Tom Thibodeau has been resolute in his position.

It’s all overblown.

The All-Star and centerpoint of Thibodeau’s rebuilding process wanting out after one season in Minnesota?

“This isn’t the first time a player asked to be traded,” Thibodeau said on media day.

Butler’s continued public expression of annoyance and/or frustration with the development curve of Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins?

“I’ve been around a long time. I don’t buy into any of that stuff,” Thibodeau said during an appearance at the State Fair. “You have to distinguish what’s real and what’s not real.”

Butler returning to practice last week for the first time in three weeks and barking at anyone and everyone in the gym, including his coach and GM Scott Layden?

“As far as talking in practice, I’ve been in the NBA for 100 years,” Thibodeau said this week. “When players scrimmage, they’re going to talk. … There were several guys talking. That’s not uncommon.”

Leaving practice to do a nationally televised interview with ESPN all in an effort to make keeping him on this roster as difficult as possible?

“In today’s world, it’s a different world,” Thibodeau said. “There’s all the social media. It’s the accessibility. I have no problems with a guy doing interviews.”

A disconnect between his desires and those of owner Glen Taylor, who wants to grant Butler’s trade request?

“Great, great,” Thibodeau said of his communication with Taylor through this process. “The one thing about Glen is we probably talk, he, Scott and I, probably three or four times a day. It’s been clear that we’re always going to try to do what’s best for our team.”

Thibodeau has an answer for every twist and every unexpected turn in the Butler saga, all aimed at delivering the message that the nervousness and concern that has hung in the air in the Twin Cities is all completely unnecessary. This happens all the time, Thibodeau has said. Every team deals with adversity at some point in the season, he maintains. Move along. Nothing to see here.

82-0.

HOWWWWLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

Why all the negativity, and then he predicts an 82-0 record?

The 82-0 is for the Canis writer Tim Allen that passed away a few years ago. He'd always predict the Wolves would go 82-0, so its a tribute to him.

Thanks for the info. That's a classy tribute.

I always predict all my fave teams to go undefeated.
