Why is the prevailing solution of so many Vikings fans to trade somebody? That shit doesn't work, for anybody, except New England.

Worked pretty well w/ Jared Allen, and Steve Hutchinson..

We went years not able to draft a DE That could play at all. Allen trade solved that.

Hell we need a player like Hutch right now.

In neither case did we trade "somebody." And Hutch was a free agent signing, not a trade.

Why is Trading draft picks off the table...We know how good Allen was in the NFL...We/ this regime has sucked at drafting OLinemen.

Sunday morning hangover on Hutch...

Times are a changing. There were several teams pulling the trigger on trades last off season.

Becuz trading draft picks isnt the premise of the conversation.

Why should we limit ourselves in any way acquiring talent on the OLine when we’ve shown alomost zero acumen in that regard through the draft under Spielman?

Someone desperately looking for CB help, and perhaps looking to deal a talented Guard? I’d deal Waynes for the right fit...

Stay focused, my dude. The current conversation has never been about that.

Look at the last four pages of this thread. They're about trading one of our existing players, either for picks or other players at positions of need. THAT is what I was and am referring to.

I wonder if rescinding the 5th year option, which we can still do, would make him (when he signed for another team) a comp pick situation.

I don't know that answer, but it is a possibility.

But you are correct about releasing players. They aren't part of the comp pick equation.

If you could “stay focused” on simply my last post that would be my question that I don’t see an answer for in the last four pages?

Why limit yourself just because you think we can’t improve through trading a player on our team?

Pretty simple question? Lol

As far as trades and draft picks go.. trading Griff I s a non starter for me, but that’s just me, trading Wayne’s is also questionable because his learning curve is on the rise,
Trading Rhodes is insanity, he is a top corner in the league, dings and hamstrings not withstanding.

Sendejo can go, Compton and remmers can go, Rudolph can be downgraded or renegotiated to a #2 TE because he has done lots of unappreciated things in multiple offensive schemes.

We need a modern field stretching TE, no doubt, but don’t throw away a solid player because he is not that player.

We have by my count 13 player we could do withoutandupgrade multiple positions..

I posted it earlier, not gonna do it again, since it got zero reaction.

I saw that as well Danno

The author fails to do his homework or he would know the Raiders have zero interest in taking on salary nor taking our throw aways.

They would have re-signed Mack and Cooper if they wanted to spend some cap.

Nothing like an article showcasing how we send all of the parts of our team the writer doesn't like to a team that surely doesn't know any better (or is too stupid to realize they're being hustled) for a big return.

Im not sure what you're looking for. You responded to my initial post about everyone wanting to trade our player(s) with a post about two instances of trades that improved our team, where one wasnt an actual trade and the other wasnt a trade that involved an existing Vikings player. Then, you further shifted gears to qualify the Jared Allen deal as a part of this discussion, talking about not limiting ourselves in acquiring talent by using draft picks.

The team has always used draft picks to acquire veteran nfl players. So, there really isnt a response to THAT part of your question, since we already do it. So, back to my original question, which wasnt posed, but has been asked countless times on this board, how does trading one of our existing players make us better and why is THAT particular action considered better than anything else?

I'm not looking for you to answer that, but that's what my question is all about. And honestly, I wasnt really thinking a discussion would ensue, and certainly not one that would immediately veer off topic.

I loved everything about the trade, except letting them have Griffen.

The trade didn't have the Raiders getting Rhodes.

Every other player was addition by subtraction, including Waynes.

My dude, this was the ONLY COMMENT I was replying to.

Forgive me if there is something I’m not getting about this?

As has been said, I may consider trading someone off our roster if it was from a position of strength & #’s (Like CB) for a position of weakness (Like OLine)
