below are the top-rated free agent guards still available...i think that spielman should bring them in and see if he can sign a couple to lowish, non-guaranteed one-year deals...let them compete with who we've already got and go with the best four in camp - and then draft an o-lineman in the 1st round next year like he should have this year....

After what we went through with Floyd, and how his recovery kept getting pushed back, I'm a little Gun Shy about Elflein.

Per the coach Elflein should be ready soon. Kind of sounds like a week or two. Players get injured and usually recover from injuries. That's the best we have to go on right now.

Certainly no need to rush him back now. In the meantime, this might represent a special opportunity for Isadora.

Latest news from Jets camp is that Darnold is likely to win the starting job for week one. The Jets have stated an openness to trading Teddy. I wouldn't be averse to bringing him home LOL. Maybe he could go to Miami and start. Or go to TB allowing them to get rid of Winston.

Agreed! The line was a big question mark even before the loss of Sparano. This team cannot risk a scenario where they are forced to start a bottom of the barrel player. We've seen that scenario play out too many times before.

It's cool McMurfy. Just a case of Brilliant minds thinking alike. I have to believe that every one of us who looked at that list had to think it was funny. J.R. Sneezy. You can't make that up. And Zane Beadle. That was taken right out of a Harry Potter spin off Bard the Beadle. Jeff Allen no further comment needed.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
Kirk Cousins was surprised that Vikings players gave him the license to lead so much in the spring He thought they might have sat back and waited for him to prove more.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
Vikings OC Flip: “If there’s a quarterback competition, you don’t have one.” Obviously Vikings have one with Kirk Cousins.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
#Vikings backup QB Trevor Siemian on Kirk Cousins: "He’s a pro. He’s a leader and it’s cool to be around somebody like that. … Just who he is as a person, it’s been an easy transition seeing him earn the respect of everybody.’’

Everyone's concerned about our OL and with legitimate reasons, but this group of guys just have to come together with a chip on their shoulder bc no one thinks much of them, the dedication to protect our franchise QB, and the heart to do it for their coach who passed suddenly. And that just has to translate to respectable, a group that doesn't let the flood gates open seeing Cousins under constant pressure. Do your job and we're likely in the SB.

I think with a legit QB, top WR's and a hungry and healthy Cook running...and picking up blitzers this is going to sway things towards being an easier task than others might face.

Who is that you say? I had to look it up too. She's the ESPN reporter following the Vikings.

"Elflein, who is on PUP to start camp, said he’s waiting for medical clearance on both the ankle & shoulder but didn’t discuss timeline. What I’ve been told is these injuries aren’t expected to keep him out long, one source saying he’ll “be good to go in the near future"

"After undergoing surgery to repair a broken ankle in January, Pat Elflein had shoulder surgery in February after sustaining an injury in Atlanta last December. Said the back to back surgeries left him immobile for a bit. Used a scooter to get around."

I heard this earlier on the radio, too:

"Clancy Barone handling the right side of OLine drills in Day 2. Andrew Janocko over working with the left side." (Cronin)

I heard that Zimmer was spending a lot of time just watching how the coaches were interacting with the players. It feels like there is a process where he is evaluating the coaches and a final decision has not yet been made. (My comment)

I guess the reports of his demise have been greatly exaggerated?
