I'm guessing DE Aruna is going to be one of those guys you don't try to get through waivers. You will have to keep him on the 53.

Can we keep Aruna and Bowers and still hang on to Robison?

Yes. Robison already took a pay cut to stay, it's his final season anyway and neither of those young guys bring his leadership, which coincidentally, they both would need.

This answers my question that I offered to Wobby (that he didn't respond to). I'm happy if this indeed is what will happen.

The Vikings are expected to place less of a burden on Griffen and all their starting defensive linemen. General manager Rick Spielman had said in March the Vikings expected to rotate linemen more, and that’s fine with Griffen.

https://www.twincities.com/2018/07/28/healthy-or-not-vikings-seek-to-reduce-de-everson-griffens-number-of-snaps/

I hope Zim follows through with this. Philly rotates like 7 guys which produced relentless pressure the whole game.

Like to see Bowars get more PT he looked extremely good last PS.

No reason to wear out Grif (like 86%) of the snaps last year.

If Badet doesn't serve during his extended playing time in preseason game 1, we shouldnt waste our time talking about him anymore. Hes got two weeks.

I'm much more interested, and concerned, about Coley. I really think he has serious potential. Unfortunately, even minor injuries can kill careers of NFL hopefuls.

The only thing missing from Badet is he doesn’t have Todd Lowber’s height.

Even Running sub 4.0 flat doesn’t do you much good if you can’t actually play football.

We’ll see..

Pete I agree on Coley. I’d think he (Coley) and his agent thought when they came to the Vikings there’d be a lot of opportunity with (at that time) a less then stellar WR room. Hell so did I, but boy have times changed.

Exhibit A - Troy Williamson

Last year at Oklahoma, with Baker Mayfield at QB, Badet had 27 receptions on 32 targets for 408 yards (15.1 per catch) and 3 TDs.

Looking at his tape, his QBs tended to under throw him most of the time (even Mayfield), which didn’t help, but Badet was able to make some contested catches in those situations, which is promising.

But overall, Badet will need to show improvement in his route running ability for a shot at making the team. If he can show he’s able to deal with NFL-caliber CBs and safeties, he could turn out to be a great UDFA signing. But improving route running and managing NFL DBs is a perennial task for rookie receivers, whether 1st round picks or UDFAs. A few do, most don’t. We’ll have to see if Badet can be among the former.

I like the reception/target ratio.

Badet ran a 4.27 in his pro day. He wants to show the vets his speed. Says he hears Waynes is fast, Badet wants to show people his speed.

That's damn fast.

If he can catch and run routes we may something in this kid.

Maybe even in a CPatt type role.

Speed kills.

4.27 is ridiculous fast. Top few in the NFL fast. Does the speed translate to the game of football. Can he catch the ball and run routes.

My guess is hes marginal at all that. When a WR runs a 4.2 anything and doesn't get drafted, it probably means he isnt very good, at least professionally.

He's marginal at all that?

Ya think?!

Hughes, Jones, Badet, and Sherels are all rotating in return work. Stacy Coley doesn't have a helmet and appears to be sitting out again. #Vikings

Barr hanging with the DL right now. Looks like the #Vikings are serious about putting him on the edge more... 🤔

One guy who keeps getting reps is Horace Richardson. He's stood out in a few of the drills when watching his technique. Working with the 2's. #Vikings

Cornelius Edison was working with the second team at RG yesterday. Today, Josh Andrews and Edison flipped spots. Andrews was at center. #Vikings

I'll be honest with you. I didn't even know Edison was on the team. I think he's a fourth year center/guard who started his career as an undrafted free agent with the Bears. It looks like he was on our practice squad last year.

People will be talking about the fight between Collins and Downs. Kind of a miss-match. Collins is a lot bigger.

Watching the NFL Network with the Vikings practice, I don't have much to say. Murray looks like he lost weight. I have a hunch that he will be on the field quite a bit this year, even if Cook is healthy.

I couldn’t care less if it’s Coley or Badet who emerges.

Coley appeared more NFL ready in his brief time then many we’ve seen come through.

Gotta be a reason or two a guy who runs a 4.2 forty is still there after the draft?

Coley certainly wasn't "NFL ready" his first year, unless zero (0) catches is the new thing. Must have been that logjam at WR.

And now Coley's been out with multiple injuries.

Okay, a couple of you need to step it up.

Badet was an UFDA so OF COURSE he has limitations! And they are probably more glaring than normal since he checked off the 'speed' box.

Geez, mention a guy ran fast and the place goes ape shit with master-of-the-obvious statements.

so barr's rushing from the right side of the defense - that's opposite his normal position, right?....

Luke Inman@Luke_Spinman
They continue to send Barr off the edge over LT regardless of team.. this time he smokes Storm Norton for great pressure forcing quick throw.. getting him as many reps as edge rusher as possible right now.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
#Vikings coach Mike Zimmer on Aviante Collins and Devante Downs coming to blows in practice Sunday. “We had a little discussion about that off to the side. When I jump in, they jump out supposedly. They’ll know I’m there.’’

Mark Craig@markcraignfl
I asked Zim what the heck he’s thinking jumping into a scrum of angry 20-something year old NFL players trading haymakers. “When I jump in, they jump out,” he said. Asked how they know it’s him yanking on them from behind, he said, “They’ll know it’s me.”

Andrew Kramer
Stefon Diggs on contract situation: "I want to be here. I love being here. I love being a part of this organization. They took a chance on me early. I love it here, as far as where we're at. You've got to take it up with the right people. I haven't spent too much time with it.".

He doesn't want anyone getting hurt unnecessarily for one thing. For another thing, he doesn't want bad blood on the team. It's so much easier to cut things off right away rather than when it percolates.

Although we don't know if Flip will be more TE heavy.

A lot of writers seem to think that he is just because Pedarson was. But we don't actually know this to be a fact.

i see it as more of an o-line issue...i think we keep bell and morgan because of their blocking skills = probably four te's...or, we try to move conklin to the practice squad and draft a top-flight te next season to save $8m we'd owe rudolph....

we might be able to develop a coley or zylstra into something, but i think we could find another player who's equivalent to them in the 4th/5th round next season...we won't keep both - zylstra to the practice squad....
